Harambe Ethiopian Restaurant

This is a place that we had been wanting to try. We went there on a Friday night and I was really worried about the crowd. Well… I worried for nothing. There were only 2 other tables with customers. I checked my watched and looked at their sign to make sure they weren’t fixing to close or something … Nope.
The waitress told us to sit anywhere we wanted. So we sat ourselves. The waitress came and got our drink order and then we ordered our food. We ordered Samosa — Chicken as the appetizer. It arrived very quickly and it was good.
Then we ordered the Harambe combination. It also arrived quickly and it was ok… But the waitress vanished. Our drinks were empty and there was no waitress anywhere in sight. My husband had to get up from the table to find a waitress to get us another drink.
We got our drinks but never saw another waitress again. We waited… and waited… and waited. We were waiting on the bill so we could pay and leave. We really didn’t feel very welcome. My husband had to get up from the table AGAIN. We finally got our food paid for and left. Nobody even said. Thank you, hope you can come back again. We got no acknowledgement.
The food is ok… But the service was terrible!

I’ll admit I was skeptical at first to try an Ethiopian restaurant nestled into five points (one of these things is not like the other…) but I was pleasantly surprised by Harambe!
I came here with my parents, bff, and brother for my birthday lunch. We started with the chicken samosas and liked them so much we ordered a second round! I especially loved the sauce they came with, very tangy and a little sweet.
Being everyone else’s first time at an Ethiopian restaurant, we ordered the 2 mixed meat platters so everyone could get a good sampling of what they had to offer. There wasn’t a single thing on the plates that we didn’t all like!
Best of all, because it was my birthday, they cranked up one of the cheesiest birthday songs I’ve ever heard and brought me out a piece of baklava and a candle to blow out. They really went above and beyond to bake my birthday lunch special and I’m really grateful for that! Definitely recommend!
