Having cut my teeth in the food service biz(40 years) in many a deli — Italian, Jewish, Health Food Californian– I know a good sandwich when I eat one. South Jersey is the real deal a completely legit east coast Hoagie; cheese, meats dressing but especially the roll! All on point, you can taste the difference from the chains in every bite, you can even taste the EVOO in the dressing! Solid! I’ll be back and spreading the word –OUTSTANDING!

They do it right. Sandwiches are filled with meat, and good meat at that. Their hand pulled chicken or turkey is exceptional and hard to find. Friendly team. If you blur your eyes and perception, you could easily imagine you were in an East coast deli. Enjoy.

Best place in Colorado Springs for cheesesteaks. Lots of food, great price. It was fun to meet someone from«home» too! They are from Jersey– I’m from Philly area. We will definitely be back!

Love this place. Bread is perfect. Right amount of cheese. I’m stuck on the jalpeno — mushroom but the special is really good too.

I have ordered an Italian sandwich and a cheese steak. I was pleased both times. Great bread and the pepper spread is the bomb. I will go back for sure.

Very good sandwiches. Maybe the best bread in town.

I really love this place! The Italian and cheesesteaks are sooo good! Even better with the cherry pepper spread. The hours are so weird though. They always have a good selection of TastyKakes, but I haven’t been for a while. I can’t believe people choose subway and jimmy johns over this.

Awesome subs, stuffed with quality toppings, price is reasonable, and the customer service top notch. I love subs, and this has become the only sub shop I go to. Subway and Jimmy John’s have nothing on this local establishment. This place is extra special since it is on a side of town with very little local restaurants. Enjoy!

Wow did I ever have a bazaar experience here this morning. I stop in at 10:38am walk in and someone I personally have never seen glances over her shoulder and looks at me like what are you doing here. «We’re closed, we don’t open till 11». I replied with«oh, ok. Sorry. Is their a menu I can take» She then says, «no we don’t have menus to go». Ok, and I leave. I come back at 11:08am. Start giving her my order, I’m about ready to drop $ 70 and once I get to the 5th sub she says«For future reference, you need to call larger orders in at 11». At this point for obvious reasons, I am very frustrated so I said«Never mind, I’ll just go elsewhere» and started to walk out. I turned around and said«You know, its very frustrating to have come in earlier and have you say, we aren’t open and no you can’t take a menu, come back in eight after 11 and you tell me I should call in next time». To which she started arguing with me, telling me I should have told her and on and on. I said why are you arguing with me, you were rude which is so weird because everyone is always nice here. More arguing from her so I walked out and she said«WEDON“T NEEDYOURBUSINESS» which stopped me dead in my tracks, I turned around and said«what did you just say». And she repeated herself«WEDON“T NEEDYOURBUSINESS». To which I said«ok».

Been coming here for years and just realized Ive never Unilocaled them. Really enjoy this place. Good selection of subs that covers all bases. Sign out front says milk shakes, machine didnt work for 2 years so I stopped asking, maybe they have it working now. Used to have an awesome selection of sodas, maybe they still do. Support local business.

I had to try this place out since they have a pretty good rating. We are from CA and we had a great philly place out there so I got the jalapeño cheese steak sandwich which was pretty expensive. It was good but not great, I don’t think its worth the price and it’s not even close to what we got in CA. I had high expectations and I’m not impressed.

Regular Italian and ask for the red pepper spread. The bread is awesome. A large will be under $ 10 and feed 2.

I wouldn’t normally volunteer to eat anywhere near Freaky’s, but from what I was hearing, South Jersey Subs was an exception to the region. I decided to give it a look. Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere? South Jersey Subs has a nice vibe. It’s nothing special, but the staff is friendly and they seem to cater to a pretty solid regular crowd. That being the case, there’s always a lively conversation about politics, sports, or what have you. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Non-chain Delis are expensive, I know, so when my bill came to $ 9.58, I was expecting greatness. Unfortunately, my sub wasn’t particularly large, and I was able to finish the whole thing with a bit of room to spare. For $ 10? I shouldn’t be able to do that. Check it out: No Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Good, but not great. The highlight here is without a doubt the bread, which was absolutely marvelous. The soft crunch was unlike what you usually find at essentially any deli, but this was unfortunately offset by the run of the mill steak meat. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? I love supporting local businesses, but with Chipotle, Noodles, and Smashburger so close I can’t say I would make South Jersey Subs a regular stop. This wasn’t bad, but I’ve had better. No Star Granted.

I love their hot subs. The bread has enough body, shoot its to die for! I loooooovethe pepper spread… and now that my job moved me to california I’m really missing this gem! The prices are worth the delicious meal. Try making one or getting one else where and it just doesn’t add up. Yummy!

I used to work at the grocery store up the street so I’ve visited South Jersey Subs 4 or 5 times and every time it was delicious and far better a sub than I could have purchased elsewhere. It’s a small place but there is outdoor seating which is great, and the staff is ridiculously friendly which makes you feel like a regular. The subs are a little more than I’d spend at Subway, but these are worth the $ 7 or so because they load that sucker up!

As far as I’m concerned, this is one of only two places to get a good sub in Colorado Springs(Mollica’s does a good job, too). They get the bread right instead of the overly soft bread at most places. The Special Italian sub and pepperoni cheese steak are my favorites. It seems they don’t offer Boylan’s or Tastycakes any more, which is a disappointment.

I don’t get by here often, but when I do I always order the Italian or Special Italian sub. It one ups Jimmy John’s «Italian Nightclub» with its red pepper spread. The generous cuts of meat are very tasty and nice and cold. The only thing I’ve always been a little disappointed with is: the bread always seems tough no matter what time of day I’ve eaten here. Oh, and prices are steep for a sandwich. $ 7+

I love this place and in my opinion it is the best place in town to get a sandwich. I’ve lived here for 30 years and it’s by far the best sandwich I’ve ever had. Trivellis, Jimmy Johns, Subway, and any other local store don’t even come close to South Jersey Subs. The meats are high quality and the breads are delicious. The owner, John, works the grill on Friday’s at lunch — this is my favorite time to go as he has an obvious passion for making sandwiches that manifests itself in the quality of the sandwich. My favorite hot sandwich is the hot ham and cheese. Favorite cold sandwich is the special italian(make sure you ask for the red pepper spread). Both are the best I’ve ever had. The cheesesteaks are great as well, but they use provolone where I prefer american. You should definitely try this place if you haven’t yet — you won’t regret it!
