Massage Envy – Briargate

Too many inexperienced massage therapist; been there 4 times. $ 50 per hour? My MD charges $ 75 per visit; cash. They shouldn’t leave signs out making people feel obligated to tip. Guess the employees pay is so low the owner hopes the tips will make the difference. Owner! Pay more per hour. Take care of your people and they will return the favor!

Yesterday I had an appointment at Massage Envy. When I arrived the receptionist told me that my appointment was canceled. This was my first and last time to this location.

The massages themselves have been very good, and I was particularly pleased with Mark, who is very knowledgable. The front desk staff is friendly, but not overly so. However, if you are trying to reach them to make an appointment, good luck. You can leave a voicemail, and they MAY get back to you…

I recently got a membership at Massage Envy and love it! I go very frequently, every two to three weeks. It saves you money on massages and is definitely worth it if you go frequently. It’s a great atmosphere, the staff is kind and my Therapist, Andrew is very professional and awesome! I would highly recommend him if you like medium to strong pressure.

Have gotten nothing but the run around from anyone anytime that I have tried to cancel my membership with this awful place. I have sent 2 written notices for them to cancel, per my contract. Still nothing. I am currently battling a collections notice however the other day the store charged my credit card $ 240 for my current membership. Um if I am in collections how can I have a current membership? And how can you charge my card after I have sent 2 notices saying that you no longer have authorization to do so? Now I have to go through the hassle of trying to call and explain this to the obviously inept front desk who I am sure will do nothing as usual, dispute the charge on my credit card and wait for the money to get freed up, have no credit card to use while I wait for a new one to be mailed because my number has been compromised, and then deal with an unfair credit collection. Don’t be fooled by the whole Massage Envy racket. Yeah the massages are great, but the pain you have to endure afterward isn’t worth all the massages in the world. Just go to the mall and pay those guys $ 30 for a great massage and be on your way.

If you can handle the incompetent front desk staff, you’ll have a great experience! I have been scheduled for the wrong date & wrong time multiple times. They’ll call multiple times in a day and not leave a voicemail, and push memberships or 90 minute massages on you (90 min. massages cost more than 30 or 60 mins.). They’re very unprofessional in general. Wait in the tranquility room so you don’t have to listen to their stories of hook ups, work drama, or party nights.
Do not ask the front desk for therapist suggestions, they don’t know anything about the therapists’ specialties/​style of massage. I tried 3 different therapists based on the front desk’s awful suggestions before finding a great therapist!

Showed up earlier than asked so that my time wasn’t cut short, but our couples massage was 8 – 12 minutes shorter than we paid for. The therapists were great but it was a little loud in there for a relaxing atmosphere.

So far I am OK with my «membership» at massage envy. If I knew prior to going to Massage envy that they would be so pushy about membership I would have most likely NOT gone because I do not like being committed to such agreements but besides the membership issues, the massage therapists are pretty good — you just need to find the right one! I know what a good massage entails — would say I have had the pleasure of getting over 70 massages in my lifetime so far…
Massage envy cons: advertises 60min massage but at best you get about 45−50min massage but they expect you to tip off an hour experience. Some of the massage therapists are so newbie they have no idea what they are doing (ie too much pressure, too little pressure, not doing anything at all). Front desk people are at times pretty pushy and fake or sometimes plain rude. Know your therapists, find the right one and stick with her/​him and front desk people please keep your attitudes at home!
Massage envy pros: flexibility of finding a massage last minute, some talented folks if you can find them stick with them, clean locations, convenient locations if you live on the north side of town. Also, if you are a member and you need more than one massage a month the subsequent massages after your initial monthly massage are only $ 39.99 after that which is a good bargain.

I’ve been at Massage Envy member for almost 5 years now and it is definitely a great way to save on monthly massages.
I see some reviewers talking about the receptionists trying to push the membership on to them. I can see this as being a problem if you just popped in to get a massage but Massage Envy is a membership-​based company that makes its money on it’s memberships not on walk-​ins. That being said there’s no excuse or place for sales tactics that are over-​the-​top. I enjoy being a member because I pay $ 80 Per month for my wife and I to both receive a one hour massage. that’s a solid $ 40 under what it would cost for us to both get a one hour massage at most other places.
My experience at this Massage Envy has been nothing but great. The receptionists and even the manager have been nothing but kind and very quick to assist when I need a last minute massage. i’ve been to this location twice and I have been pleased both times. It’s a nice building and the set up is very well done.
In general I don’t think I’ve been to any Massage Envy in the United States that I did not find to be well organized and well run and this location is no exception.

I had a similar experience as Thomas did. My message with Christopher was great. I was pleased with the massage and the relaxing atmosphere. However the receptionist were so quick to try and sell me a membership that I felt I did not need. This went on for about five minutes, because of their pushy tactics to try and sell you something that puts you in a 12 month contract I will not be returning. This was suppose to be relaxing and enjoyable?

The place is quite overpriced and the manager was a pretty rude to me. I’ll stick with Life Time Fitness’ Spa if I need my occasional massage. The personnel there do an amazing job and at $ 60.00 a visit with no sort of contract or membership fee, it’s cheaper if you only get a massage occasionally. Toccare is very nice too with no high pressure sales tactics involved. Massage Envy is similar in price, $ 59.99 I believe, but they really try to push their membership on you. You can opt to avoid the membership fee, but then they charge an arm and a leg for the 1 hour massage and they hassle you to buy it. Again, if the massage is occasional, go to Life Time or Toccare. I’m still offended when I think about how the manager treated me. Her name is Rosemarie and she comes off as very pompous and arrogant when you want to pass on the membership. Pushing a product for a sale is one thing, but when you belittle a customer, making him feel «poor» is another. Rosemarie made it seem like I was beneath her and the business she represents, simply because I passed on the membership. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

I was back to visit my parents, and needed my weekly massage, so of course I would choose Massage Envy. I had an appointment scheduled with Vince, and our 1 ½ hour session started about 10 – 12 minutes late. He did apologize about being late and our session went well. The ladies at check out were fun, and commented on my Star Wars shirt.
Of course I’ll be back since this location is close to where my parents live, so I know my next visit will be even better. I guess I have such high standards that I compare all Massage Envy locations to my home location.
