Love the Espresso café at Broadmoor main. Whenever we are in C Springs, which is actually pretty often, we try to stop by and pick up a selection of gorgeous desserts. The lemon meringue bar is still my favorite – delicious and beautiful – but the strawberry frasier is a close second. Over 4th of July weekend, they had wonderful pineapple upside down cake, which was nostalgic and perfect for the holiday. My only wish is that the small drinks were a tad larger. The large size is too big, and the small is too small. But in the face of such pastries, that’s hardly worth mentioning.

So I’m going to start my two reviews this evening with the best one first and who knows, maybe I won’t even do the other one. Suffice to say, it was really awesome, that at 8pm, the coffee shop is still open, with plenty of items and a smiling employee. To top it off, the Devil’s Torte was fantastic! I really felt like some dark chocolate, but I didn’t want to over do it. This torte was absolutely awesome, as awesome gets. it is a cake, so it is not gooey, it is not dense and it is not necessarily moist. If those are your things, you might want to try a different option. This one was firm(again, not like a brownie firm though) but easy to sink my teeth into. It is a rich, dark chocolate interior with what appears to be like a dark ganache type top. Within a second of the first bite, the dark chocolate I longed for hit my tastebuds.. . I had feared that«end of the day taste like the freezer taste». .. but no. Fresh tasting and yummy. On the outside of the torte were thin little pieces of milk chocolate, which while not usually my favorite, was a perfect little blend to the bite of the dark. And the little Broadmoor chocolate square on top, was a delightful end(or beginning) to this treat. Presentation. .. A+++ Combined with my tea, my only regret of the evening was that I didn’t come here for dinner instead of the Tavern…but another bite of this pleasant surprise and joy is brought back to me! Bonus points for the young lady working for being so pleasant on what is probably a boring Monday night, plus, she put a fork, knife and napkins in my to go bag, which is more than what 72.56% of all my pizza delivery people can do, or should I say, can’t do.

This coffee shop is in the lobby of The Broadmoor and it’s fantastic. Great coffee! Great chocolate! Delicious treats like a sticky bun! So nice to walk around lake and stop in here for coffee and treat. Some of our faves: iced coffee, wild blueberry and lemon scone, crullers donut, caramel hazelnut chocolate.
