This is a nicely-appointed office, and the doctors seem quite capable, but I question some of their practices and the front office needs to get their act together. We had been advised to come in for a consult on a procedure, so we booked the appointment. When we arrived they had no record of our appointment, and seemed disbelieving until I showed them the reminder card in their own handwriting. It was almost an hour before we actually got in to see the doctor. The conversation was brief, and contained mostly information we already knew. This was an irritant because we were out a long drive and an expensive copay for an exchange that could have been handled over the phone.

Took the time to verify that Colorado ENT& Allergy and even specifically the doctor I was seeing was in my insurance company’s network. They were and so all I was supposed to have to pay was my copay and the insurance would cover the rest. They are not supposed to do difference billing for in network patient, however they aren’t abiding by those rules. They charged me over double what my insurance said that an office visit should cost and are demanding I pay the difference. What should have been a $ 30 specialist copay is now costing me $ 300 out of pocket personally even though they were paid by my insurance for the visit.

I’ve been coming here for nearly 5 years for myself and now my children. The main doctors we have are both nice, respectful and pleasant. I’ve had several instances when we’ve seen the other Drs and they are very nice too. Their allergy department is friendly, accommodating and competent. There receptionists and billing are abysmal! Considering this is the front line… Horrible! I get charged the same co-pay with each visit and I tell the receptionist it’s wrong each time and several weeks later get a bill for the«corrected» amount to be paid. I didn’t both this time. She couldn’t even say hello, just«last name.» Then the amount co-pay will be wrong, but on my statement this time, there was an unexplained«patient balance?» It wasn’t very much $, not the point. Considering they send me out a bill which I pay in full each time, why, why is there a patient balance? They couldn’t tell me, just«this is your responsibility.» I went home and look at previous statements and receipts. I was all paid in full. Called billing, no explanation, no we are sorry, just an unexplained patient balance, that in responsible for. Wow, I wish I could randomly charge people extra without an explanation and get more money for unexplained nothing. We teach our children manors and respectful greetings, talk about customer service with them and appropriate attitudes. My children ask why we come here when the service is so bad. I like the Drs, but given we don’t see them often, I’m beginning to wonder if I should look for another office that has better manners, better customer service and a better billing department.

Dr. Daniel Smith is great and I would/have trusted him with my kids life. This is the only reason we have not changed doctors. The staff is consistently rude across the board and checking in is cumbersome. We have came here for over two years and the entire clinic from reception, the guy who does the hearing screen, and billing need a serious dose of customer service skills. They will not treat you like the customer, but more like a burden especially if you have kids. We used to show up 20 minutes early, but we almost always have to wait at least 45 minutes past our apt time. Only to be treated like an inconvenience. If this clinic learned its kindergarten rules it could be outstanding.

I have been taking my three children to see Dr. Lewis Romett for ear, nose and throat issues for 11 years and have found him to be consistently pleasant and helpful. He is an experienced surgeon(inserted tubes in my son’s ears) and has successfully tackled all of our ear infections and hearing questions! His bedside manner is perfect — very understanding, patient, non-alarming(calm) and he is present and focused. Early on my experience with his office involved pretty long sitting spells in the waiting room but Dr. Romett has since relocated his office and that long wait seems to have been resolved. I got right in to see him the last time I went. The only thing I might suggest is that if your child has recurring ear infections, ask for an x-ray so that you can make sure the ear infection has been completely resolved. Interestingly, I have never had an otolaryngology specialist offer that. It wasn’t until we went to an allergy specialist that this was recommended. It turned out to be quite helpful and we avoided having to return to the doctor for a «new» infection when it was really the last one that remained unresolved and stubbornly resurfaced.
