Big R Stores

The customer service is horrible. I purchased a $ 500 chicken coop/​pen. It was supposed to be new and not assembled. On delivery day they were over an hour late and brought the demo model assembled with missing and broken pieces and I was to simply accept it. I called and talked to John, the store manager I was told, he assured me all the pieces would be there and the delivery driver was going to come back to take it apart. The driver took just enough pieces off to say it was take apart and threw it to the ground bending even more pieces. No discount was offered for damaged display item. The attitude from John was simply, «we will pick it up.» They do not care they lost me as a customer or to even try to make things a little better. I would have been happy of they reduced the price for a damaged display model. ~ Chris Seriously Disappointed Former Customer

Big R in general is just a great chain of stores. They take care of you and give you that TLC that a little mom and pop hardware store gives but they are much bigger than any little mom and pop store.
Big R in monument is no exception. Their service is a cut above. One of my very first transaction with them was buying a chainsaw. I had no idea how much chainsaw I needed. They walked me thru very simply what was going to be the perfect saw for my needs but not too much so the price was too high. They took me out back. Tested the saw, showed me how to use it and keep from cutting my legs off and explained maintenance and so forth. I had lots of questions and they spent time answering them getting me all squared away. I get the saw home start using it and after a few hours running it is starts to give me grief. I took it back to the store and they took it apart realized it had come with some bad part and she simply got me a brand new saw off the shelf and said they’d take care of it and thanks for using Big R. The new saw has been a champ. I realize you probably don’t give a hoot about my chainsaw story but it illustrates the lengths they go to to take care of their customers. I’ve been using them ever since. I’ve had many more experienced just like that since so I know it’s not just a one time thing. I highly recommend them for all your needs. They don’t have everything but you’d be surprised how much they do have. It’s kind of like a man’s Toys R Us. Try them out and you won’t be disappointed.

I was impressed with this store. In particular, the employees really went out of their way to try to help me find what I was looking for. When it was not out on display, they spent some time looking in the back and calling other stores to try to find the product. When they still had no luck, they recommended other stores to try. They really spent a lot of time and energy trying to help me. The store also has a nice selection of products. I will definite go back after this experience!

Going to Big R reminds me of my childhood, where I lived in the very agricultural «Central Valley» in California.
Big R has all sorts of stuff, from guns to clothes to feed to footwear. This is truly a one-​stop-​shop, and a laid back one at that. If you’re a hipster or yuppy this might not be your type of store.
I’m a bit put off by my most recent experience though. I went in on Saturday for their 10% off everything in the store sale. The only item left of what I wanted was the display model (let me say that I was the first one in the door when they opened). They were willing to sell it to me; but when I asked if they would give a further discount because it was the display model and had been handled by an untold amount of people the employee gave me a snarky reply. Sure there was a sale going on, but it never hurts to ask about a discount for something that isn’t really «new» #sorrynotsorry.

Do we keep changing senior discount day? I called store and was told it was the 2^nd & 4^th Tuesday of month. Went today and now not even sure what day it is.

Love this place. An interesting collection of farm stuff, even us non-​farmers, ranchers, horse owners can find some good stuff.
The have a nice collection of power tools, trailer part, and hardware in addition to the stuff you would normally get there.
Always friendly and helpful folks around to give you a hand with questions.
Probably the best place in colorado springs for boots!

This location is one of many. They have a huge selection of farm, home and garden supplies. It is well lit with lots of friendly and helpful employees. Plenty of parking also,
The best part: a customer lounge with free coffee and fresh-​popped popcorn in small bags. Who does that?
