So. here you go. some of us walked from our campground. which was a couple miles or so. just don’t blame me if that is not exact length… I am not good at Math… So…back to the story. besides the fact that it was really very hot that day and the Holiday weekend. every place was hopping and bopping. we head inside and most of us decide to get something cool, so my friend Cool Cora get’s me some gelato that is cool because she is cool. The cool thing about the gelato is that a women that lives in the area makes it fresh… pretty cool. There is some places to sit in the back of this groovy spot to eat and hang. Way good gelato to!!!

Lovely food, atmosphere, and people. A coloma gem! I recommend the golden glow smoothie if youre in need of a cold treat, or the turkey sandwhich. They have many options if you have dietary restrictions, which is always nice to find in a small community.

Good salads and sandwiches, fresh ingredients, lots of greens, and good bread. The prices seem a little steep but I was visiting from Oregon and most California prices seem high. The only real disappointment was the coffee. I can only drink decaf so they offered a decaf Americano. I’m not crazy about over-burnt beans but I do like a rich flavor. This was kind of wimpy and weak.

Argonaut café is perfectly themed and decorated, tasty, healthy and not what I expected to find in downtown Coloma! I hope they stay there forever!

This place looks rustic on the inside but a pleasant rustic inside. Amazing vegan and veggie options. Can’t wait to go back.

Last Saturday afternoon I stopped by for a Gelato. Two young people behind the counter, made no eye contact, kept on talking to each other so I left.

Pricey, indifferent staff, small portions. If you eat here, skip the potato soup — they have the nerve to call it clam chowder. Not much seating.

This place is a complete surprise in a good way. It’s a lot bigger inside then it appears and decorated very well. The have a small but good selection of sandwiches and other lunch items etc… This also includes gluten free bread and baked goods, I’m not sure if the have dairy free options but they did have a vegan chili. The staff was very friendly which always makes a visit pleasant. They have a nice(again small) selection of teas and coffee options as well as gelato making sight seeing in hot CA Summer’s enjoyable. Can’t wait to come back.

Such a cute little coffee shop nestled amongst golden California historical Coloma. I had a veggie sandwich on an everything bagel. It was fresh and delicious. I could only eat half. I felt like if the cheese were melted it would be that much better! I love toasted sandwiches from healthy bistros. The coffee was on point. I like a bold dark roast, and this was exactly that. I ordered a large latte, and finished up every drop. My husband ordered a breakfast sandwich with ham and egg on a jalapeño bagel. My mom ordered the quesadilla special. It had black beans and carmelized onions. Yum!

I love it here. Coloma’s not too far from where I live in Auburn, but it wouldn’t be a regular stop without the Argonaut. This café is a gem. Great coffee, vegan and vegetarian(and not) options, the food’s delicious and the portions are huge! Not to mention the amazing staff and service. There’s also wifi, which is great considering AT&T customers may not have service in this area! They’ll also give you a parking pass if you don’t have a day pass to the state park. The turkey sandwich and mushroom soup are my favorite menu items.

I didn’t expect much from a restaurant in the small city of Coloma. My girl and I were pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere, food, and service. We had quite a bit off the menu for a lunch visit: iced coffee, an acai bowl, smoked turkey wrap, some sort of salad(her pick, I wasn’t paying attention), and ended it with some yummy gelato. We were checked on by at least five employees, all of which were attractive college-age females. The food was yummy and the price was less than I expected for a café with so many buzzwords(vegan, gluten free, local, organic, etc).

What charm this little café brings to a rustic spot like Coloma. I stopped in, intrigued by the vegan options. Vegan. In coloma?! Heck yes, I said to myself — and I was far from disappointed. The food was fresh and clearly made with love. I had the Manhattan clam chowder in a bread bowl, followed by a refreshing scoop of rich, creamy salted caramel gelato. Delicious food aside, the charm and appeal of this hole in the wall café tickled me pink. The creative décor melds retro 1950s kitchen flare with Pinterest-worthy furniture and art. So cute I’d be willing to drive all the way back to Coloma just to sit in this café and take in all of it’s serene cuteness. If you’re not looking closely you night miss this little gem– I saw no real signage aside from a chalkboard out front with daily specials. But you may recognize it by it’s wraparound porch with adorable succulent terrariums adorning each bench/table. In the front entry way is an order-at counter with grab-and-go goodies as well as a large water pitcher for the dehydrated to help themselves. Follow the hallway to the back room(super chilled by AC! Wonderful on a hot summer day) and you’ll find a wood stove, books, games and coloring activities for kiddos. The art throughout is clever and fantastic as well. The owners are clearly dedicated to a philosophy that extends beyond making money. Throughout the café quotations, facts and blurbs can be found advocating a healthy body-healthy mind connection. I found these little sentiments to be totally refreshing! Business owners who sell good food and intend for you to enjoy it in a healthy, mindful way is a noble business model that I feel great supporting. Definite recommend!

This store closes a bit early than posted. I was with an 88 and 84 year olds, they were thirsty, they turned them away. I said, «Really? You are not going to let us buy a drink? What about a cup of water? She thought about it, then okayed it. It was on a very hot afternoon. Geez, so much for customer service. I will avoid this store and bring a cooler next time and a back pack.

Best breakfast place ever found. Started with a carrot ginger apple fresjich made in house. Then a toast with scrambled egg sandwich. Ordered jam on the side to mix in with the miners power bowl. Also ordered a banana mango smoothie. For 2 couldnt finich the food. No cheap fillers like hash browns or junkie food like bacon. Healthy and cheap. $ 16.00 for 2.

Wow Argonaut has made some great changes! I’ve been coming to this little spot for 30 years on and off, mainly for Lemonade. The new owners has given it a major facelift and it’s adorable. Love the blend of wood, metal and chic… quite a surprise for Coloma. I recommend the homemade Gelato from Sacramento, it’s delicious and excellent flavors. The espresso is also delightful. They just expanded their refrigeration display and now offer many more drinks, quick power foods and other goodies. I haven’t tried their pastries but they look full on. I would have given it 5 stars but the customer service needs some serious work. The place can be busy and since it’s small it can take a bit to get your food. The atmosphere is outstanding, quaint, sweet and fun. It’s located right in the Gold Discovery Park so watch the parking situation.

The new owners have been here for a few months now and have made some changes! Very kitschy and cool, the wood stove in the back is a nice touch on those chilly days. Have no idea how old the actual structure is, but it seems like the real deal.(I should’ve taken a photo of this place in sepia tone to give it that authentic look!) Located in the Coloma state park area, you can come here for a coffee after gold panning or going for a hike. They serve Temple coffee and do a fantastic latte. Not cheap however, a latte and mocha set us back about $ 8. The free wifi is great — I couldn’t get any cell phone reception out here and had to resort to email and other apps to get in touch with folks. They proudly advertise pies on their sign. I can’t wait to come back and try one!
