This place is great! It was recommended to me by a friend when I wanted to take my husband and do something out of the ordinary while vacationing. What better than to take a StandUpPaddleboard lesson?! Collinsville Canoe and Kayak is located on the Farmington RIver and was easy to get to. Our«class» was comprised of my husband and I, another woman, and our instructor. We were given a land lesson first and fitted with paddles, then went down to the water and got started! While terrifying at first, the progression of the class was at the right pace that we were all skimming right along towards the end of class! I even tried some SUP Yoga moves at the suggestion of the instructor, she was awesome. I would recommend this place to anyone interested in SUP or kayaking, they have an awesome shop full of different styles which they’ll gladly explain to you. Pricing for the class was around $ 40 which I felt was well spent and even my husband who was skeptical of a «class» told me later he was glad we went so he knew how to paddle correctly and turn. I call that a win! I’m just sorry I can’t remember our instructors name.

Nice place to kayak or canoe if you are looking for a calm, relaxing trip. They were also very accommodating for our dogs.

Great place to take the kids to try canoe, kayak, or SUP. All three can be rented by the hour. Water is waist deep and the current it mild

Whoa, what a great find! Kudos to my friend who found this place(probably on Unilocal) and arranged for us to SUP(stand up paddle). Such a blast!!! I arrived a little late so we ran into the office to sign the waiver, grabbed life vests and then the two employees told is everything we needed to know about SUPing. Everyone was so incredibly helpful and absolutely wonderful!!! For $ 20/hour, I will definitely be back for another fun hour. Maybe next time I’ll convince my bf to canoe with me or even kayak.

One word — awesome! My friend and I went here today for the first time ever to rent stand up paddle boards. It was so much fun! After filling out a waiver(1 minute of effort) and handing over my drivers license, we were on our way! We grabbed life vests and were in the water paddling away in no time. Having never been on a paddle board before, the folks in the rental office and down by the water gave us a few tips on how to be successful. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful — nothing but good things to say! I will definitely be back! For $ 20 per hour, it also seemed like a very good value!

The owner is a complete and total jacka$$! He put up a cardboard sign about«no dogs» because my 4pound teacup chihuahua literally peed a teaspoon amount of dog pee on his GRASS We used to go there all the time, now we’ll go to bantam lake to rent kayaks instead.

My boyfriend took me here a few weekends ago to go kaiaking for my first time. This place was great! The staff was very friendly & helpful. Their equipment is in great shape as well. We kaiaked on the Farmington river & it was so nice & relaxing. The water was so calm and not deep at all. I could see the bottom. It was only $ 12 per person for an hour. Great price we though. You can feel free to go over the hour and pay for each additional 15 mins you go over(not sure the rate because we only did the hour). I highly recommend this place for a nice day out on the river! 2 thumbs up :)

I bought a kayak here in 2014. The staff was extremely knowledgable and helpful, offering no pressure options. My kayak was around $ 850 and they offered me 15% off for good measure. A part on the kayak broke, they had the manufacturer on the phone with me the next day and the part was shipped out to me no questions asked. I highly recommend them, but with all purchases do your research first before you buy. I knew what I was looking for before I bought. Highly recommend them.

I’ve been in C-Ville more than a few times recently upon a good friend moving right into its center. I have biked the rail trail, eaten at LaSalle’s, danced to live music at Bridge Street Live, even partied at the now-defunct Fireplace(bring back the Fireplace!!!). And all the times I watched, a bit enviously, the people floating along on the Farmington River. A quartet of friends and myself descended on C-ville Canoe and Kayak one Sunday morning. Reservations are recommended because this place is popular. Single kayaks are $ 12/hour and tandem kayaks are $ 20/hour. They also have stand up paddle boards and canoes. It took us a little over an hour to do the round-trip as Michele T. said. It was very enjoyable to get on the water for a bit of relaxation, watch some ducks, look at nature, notice the changing bottom of the river. Serenity in your backyard. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I thought the prices were very reasonable compared to other places I’ve been to. I plan on going again.
