The Collinsville Farmer’s Market is a nice, little market on Sunday mornings. However, it is more of a novelty than a true farmer’s market — it has very few stands(many of which shouldn’t even count as farms), the variety is minimal and the prices are high. In all, its a nice place to stop on a Sunday morning but not a serious place to buy your food.

I love the Collinsville Farmer’s market!!! All the vendors are friendly and the products great. They have your average seasonal fruits and veggies but there is also goat cheese, wines, locally raised meats, flowers, coffee and even live music! Bring a cooler and after you browse and buy at the Farmer’s Market, you can go for a stroll or a bike ride along the Farmington River. There are also a lot of shops and restaurants and The LaSalle Deli, but I’ll save that gem for another review.

I’ve seen some bigger Farmer’s Markets. I’ve seen some smaller Farmer’s Markets. But I have yet to see one in such a lovely town that not only is fun to look at, but is fun just to be there. There is just something about Collinsville that resonates with me –it has a laid back Bohemian Hippie Vibe that is hard to put into words. Maybe its the dozens of happy pooches that wander around. Maybe its the ultra friendly vendors. Maybe its the drop dead gorgeous scenery as you look over the Crown and Hammer. Maybe it’s all the bicyclists and joggers that are everywhere. Maybe its all that granola and nuts and seeds and tie dye. It’s like hard to explain, man… We bought some corn, and a pizza and biscottis from Collinsville bakery. There are quite a bit of vendors here, most definitely more than when we started patronizing the Market a few years ago. Beautiful fresh produce is available from dozens of stands, plus meats, baked goods, herbs, eggs, you name it. It’s a wonderful way to spend a few hours on a Sunday Summer afternoon.

This is a lovely little local farmers’ market. The parents of my friend Brittany usually have a stand here but not today. We went anyway. I was able to get some good artisan bread, fresh eggs, and 2 herb plants(lovage and chervil)! Yeah!
