I’ve been there about 5 times. At first the place is hard to find, and then to park. Then I took someone there and he discovered the public parking lot behind the bank. He like it, and wanted to go again. The general tso tofu is what I usually order. It is filling and agreeable. The last time time I ordered the braised gluten. First off they wouldn’t honor their lunch menu on Sunday like they usually do. Then I was so mad I took a left on 130, where there’s a no left, at Haddon, where there’s a cop waiting to pull somene over. After the ticket, the braised gluten gave me ripping cramps. So, so long for now.

Getting Chinese food was always an ordeal in my house. I’ve a long time vegetarian, and my husband has a deep love for all things meaty. Green House has solved our dilemma, and allowed us to enjoy Chinese food together again. The options are vast, and range from your basic fare to the exotic(not sure I can bring myself to try the black fungus dishes, even though I know it’s just mushroom). There is something for everyone here. My meat loving hubby loves the fried tofu dishes, even though he can’t normally tolerate tofu. The bubble tea is an added bonus(nope, you don’t have to go to Philly for your bubble tea fix)! Prices are moderate for dinner, but the lunch special menu is a great deal. Love that they offer brown rice and seaweed salad as options for their lunch menu sides.

The best meal I have had in a long time, and suddenly one of my absolute favorite restaurants. There were two of us and we ordered avocado roll, avocado salad, General Tso Vege, and a mango milkshake. All of it was good but the General Tso Vege was to die for. The food took a while but the staff was very nice/attentive. AND you can order online. They can expect to be hearing from me often!

People eat vegetarian for different reason. Moral convictions. Doctor’s orders. Weight loss. Whatever your reason, if you don’t eat meat, but miss it dearly, the Green House is for you. The protein that they use for their sesame faux-chicken, faux-pepper steak, etc. is not your usual seitan, soy, tempeh stuff. It is top quality and will absolutely fool you into thinking you are eating meat. If you’re eating vegetarian because you want to lose weight, be sure to ask for the sauce on the side because they go heavy on the it. However, the sauces are delicious and interesting and go beyond the sugary, ketchup-like sauces you get at lesser chinese restaurants. Their teas are delicious. The complimentary green tea provided at the onset of your meal is refilled constantly. The wait staff is very attentive and friendly. Here’s the knock on Green House: they more often than not will overcook their veggies. This causes eggplant to be stringy and limp, broccoli to be mushy, and string beans to be flimsy. If you eat vegetarian because you love veggies, then this could pose a problem for you. Regardless, the quality of the mock meat is great and I love this place.

Green House is a dimly-lit, long and narrow Chinese joint filled with vinyl booths. Not exactly downscale, but not really a place to take a date, either. On the other hand, the food is above average and has some unusual options. I had the dried bamboo shoot with fried tofu(~$ 10) and the sha cha potato(~$ 10). The dried bamboo dish came wonderfully presented, with fried tofu pockets lining the edges of the plate, and the bamboo thrown in the middle. The bamboo had a fermented taste that mixed well with the black pepper-covered tofu pockets. The sha cha potato, which is an unusual offering, consisted of skillet-fried potatoes with a spicy, savory sauce. I liked this dish but it’s a better one to share with people, alongside other dishes. This dish could be pretty boring on its own, though. I like that they have brown rice and the service was friendly. If you’re looking for a tasty, unusual Chinese meal, Green House merits a visit.

For starters. I am not a vegetarian or anything close to it for that matter. My girlfriend on the other hand does not eat red meat and loves tofu so this led us to the Green House. I was very hesitant to come because I had tried vegan chinese once before and was not impressed(I went to White Castle afterward to cleanse my palate). Anyway I tried my hardest to keep an open mind. We started off with the black moss fungus and tofu soup. It was very hot and surprisingly very good. I ordered the kung pao tofu with peanuts and loved it. My gf had the triple shredded garlic tofu(or something like that) which I will definitely be ordering next time because I loved it so much. The service was very good(for only one waitress in the entire place) along with the hot tea, the huge portions, the prices, and the quality of the food. So brothers and sisters out there who are afraid to stray away from meat, come to the Green House. You might just like it. That is all.

Ever crave Chinese food but not want to hate yourself after eating it? Enter Green House’s array of vegetarian fare. The hot & sour soup gives off a strong aroma of sesame oil, but tastes otherwise indistinguishable from the usual offering; if you like hot & sour soup, get it here and you will be more than satisfied. Ditto for the spring roll. The entrees are also quality. The«Golden Rings»(potato-stuffed tofu skin in a tangy tomato sauce) resemble radioactive chitlins. That sounds incredibly unappetizing, but both flavor and texture are on point. The General Tso’s Tofu features nicely-sized, crispy fried cubes of tofu in murky reddish-brown sauce which fails to replicate the flavor profile one might be used to for this dish; it was sweet, subtly spicy & had something fungal happening on the back end.(Insert your own joke.) The broccoli was also slightly overcooked the one time I ordered this, but overall, I liked it. Being that we are now in the dog days of summer, I should mention that their boba tea and smoothies are great for cooling off. Stop in for one during the next heat wave. The only negative that comes to mind is their online ordering system. I used it once and they messed up my order. This may just have been a coincidence, but I will be calling in my orders in the future.

Best Chinese vegetarian I’ve had and I’ve tried all the usual suspects in Philly’s Chinatown. It is well-priced and always fresh. I order the lunch specials from here at least once a week, and have been gifted with complimentary delicious bubble tea on more than one occasion. The staff is super friendly. My favorite dishes include General Tso’s Tofu and the Sesame Seitan. Both the miso as well as the lotus root and peanut soup are outstanding. The Chinese pizza is soft, fresh, and the best I’ve ever had. This restaurant is not to be missed.

My only gripe with Green House is that they don’t deliver. I have had a few things off the menu and it’s all fantastic. Their General Tso’s Tofu is the best in the area apart from Sakura’s in Turnersville.

I was starving so I ordered the Veggie steak and the curry cauliflower and potatoes I can’t imagine the steak is healthy it was so sweet, it was gross, it was oily and disgusting. The curried cauliflower and potatoes were just bad as well. I’ve been to many vegetarian restaurants and am usually just grateful that they exist. This place not so much. I was very very disapointed. I can’t imagine what i would have thought of it if I wasn’t extremely hungry. Either way, I chose hungry over enduring the process of chewing and swallowing that inedible slop.

I read about Green House on Unilocal,so decided to check it out as I’m always on the lookout for vegetarian/vegan restaurants. My dining companion is decidedly NOT vegetarian but he really liked it. There were too many things to choose from, so to narrow it down I tried some things I had never had before: lotus root/peanut soup – very tasty and the taro croquettes in sweet and sour – croquettes were yummy with a typical, but good sweet and sour. He had hot and sour soup – very good; seaweed pancakes – exceptional taste and vege lo mein – very good. They have brown rice, always a big plus for me. They serve a green with jasmine tea that was delightful. I didn’t see until we were leaving that they serve bubble tea! We will definately go back so we can try some of the other new items. This is not your usual menu; it can accomodate vegetarian, vegan and quite possibly macrobiotic diets while satisfying their omnivore friends.

At first I was wowed by Green House. The first dish I had(eggplant and tofu) was very, very tasty and spicy. But, as time progressed, and I ordered different things, I was a bit disappointed. I found the food to be getting more and more bland. The sauce on my mixed veggies was bland. The miso soup was also quite bland. Note: the lunch special is definitely not worth it if you choose takeout with a salad. Salad= a few pieces of iceberg lettuce, one slice of cucumber and tomato. Lack of dressing. If you’re going to order, try it for their lunch special. Go for the lotus root soup and the spring roll!

I know that some vegetarians/vegans have discerning palates(rightfully so). I Am not a vegetarian & don’t eat a lot of All-Vegetarian meals at restaurants so this is my first. I stopped by on Monday to place an order for take-home. The hostess was very friendly. I ordered the ‘Eggplant with Tofu in Garlic Sauce’ with Brown Rice and Seaweed. I was in the mood for some dark, leafy greens but I did not see any on the menu(as a side item). I asked if they could make me a side order of Kale, they did. I thought the Eggplant was tasty. It retained a bright, vibrant purple color, cooked just right, not too mooshy. The Garlic Sauce was good, not too salty. The Tofu was firm, not chewy. I have had better tasting tofu at some other Chinese restaurants(then again, others I have tried were more fried and probably not as healthy). I liked the Seaweed as well. The seaweed tasted different than the Wakame salads that I have had at Sushi joints. The steamed Kale was tasty.(was prepared better than I could make it at home). The portion was very satisfying and the price of the meal was reasonable. I will return.

Love this place! A welcome addition to the happening Collingswood dining scene. Have tried both lunch & dinner & was impressed both times with the quality, selections & portion size. The jasmine tea, which is constantly refilled, is delicious! The lunch deal is amazing. So much food for so little $ and we even had leftovers! My meat-loving friend couldn’t wait to go back to Green House. They’re deducting 15% from the(already reasonable) dinner bill through the end of Nov. so make the most of it!

I just tried out this restaurant tonight. I would give it 3 ½ stars(if possible) because, unfortunately as a vegan, I am comparing this to all the vegetarian Chinese restaurants in Philly. It’s better than mediocre(definitely better than your typical non-veg Chinese restaurant), but my mind wasn’t blown away. Compared to veg Chinese restaurants in Philly, I found the food to be slightly bland. There were 4 of us and we ordered 4 appetizers, and 2 entrees: Mashed Tofu on the Nori w. Bar-B-Q Sauce — the tofu was a bit soft and chewy(it was definitely meant to be like that, it wasn’t under/over cooked or anything), and the sauce wasn’t bbq Veg. on the Stick w. Bar-B-Q Sauce — literally was about 5 veggies on a stick, one being corn on the cob. Again not a typical bbq sauce Scallion Pancakes — these were good, typical Chinese pancakes Dim Sum — rice in a dumpling General Tso’s Veg — the menu stated this was hot/spicy it wasn’t at all. Came with broccoli and your choice of rice. It was good, just bland Sesame Seitan — almost the same thing as the general tso’s, with a slightly different sauce and sesame seeds. I would definitely eat here again, try something different. The waitress(es) were very attentive; re-filling our water and tea and also very helpful in giving suggestions on what to eat. Additionally, we were given 15% off the total bill for coming in the first time. I hope they work on adding some spice to their meals. They have already made improvements, as one reviewer wrote below they played classical music; a «pop» station was on tonight. This would be a perfect place for me to pick up take out. Much better than driving all the way into Philly, slaving against traffic and paying the $ 4 bridge toll. If you’re vegan and plan to eat here make sure to let the waitress know and/or ask what menu items you can eat. There are items on the menu that state with egg, but I was informed that some of the food is cooked in dairy(or with butter). They are accommodating and can omit or substitute to make items vegan.

I’m not a vegetarian, but having been very disappointed by other Chinese food in the Collingswood area, I figured I had nothing to lose by trying Green House. I’m so glad I did! After three visits, I can now say that Green House is my local go-to for Chinese. The food is above standard for typical Chinese fare, with generous portions. The sesame seitan and general tso tofu are two of my favorites. I really liked the chow mei fun, but will ask them to include a few more veggies next time. I’m excited to try some of the more adventurous options on the menu. They do have a wide selection of bubble teas and fruit slushes — which(at the time of visit) come free with a meal as part of a grand opening promotion. The dining room is nothing special, but spacious, so you’ll probably never have to wait for a table. This is a BYOB, so it’s a great place to share a bottle of wine with friends. I ordered takeout one night and it was very fast. While I was waiting, the hostess(owner?) was very engaging and explained different things on the menu. So nice! If you like Su Xing or Kingdom of Vegetarian in Philly, you’ll be right at home in Green House. If you haven’t tried veg Chinese before, give it a shot. It’s not like your corner Chinese takeout place uses high grade quality meat in their dishes anyway, so why not try some seitan or tofu? It actually tastes better.

Green House is a vegetarian Chinese restaurant that just opened up on Haddon Avenue. I tried it a few days ago and the food was good. The menu is strikingly similar to that of Su Xing House in Philly. We tried the glutinous rice roll, Hawaiian fried rice and pickled cucumbers. All were very good. A star deducted for leaving an entrée out of our bag, causing us to return to pick it up. I really hate when that happens… get all settled in to eat and… wait a minute! Something is missing! They had no one in the restaurant so it’s not like they were super busy. A free little appetizer for our trouble or a coupon off our next order would have been nice for our inconvenience. But as I said, all of the food was good so we will return again… but will be sure to check our bag before leaving to make sure everything is there.
