My husband and I dine here on a regular basis and we love it! The sushi is always fresh and there are so many unique rolls to chose from. Whenever we are in the mood for something different, we order the chicken hibachi-so good! We have recommended this place to several friends and we have actually brought some friends to dine l with us too. Everyone loves it just as much as we do! Another plus is that it is BYOB, so we can enjoy our favorite dishes with a great bottle of wine.

This is a great spot if you’re looking for authentic Japanese food.(They also have Korean). My brother who speaks Japanese and has traveled to Japan even loves it here. The takoyaki which you can’t find everywhere was good. And the yakitori was cooked perfectly. The noodles in the yaki udon were delish! I can’t wait to try them again. We also got the katsu don which was a rice bowl with fried chicken and a bunch of other favors. It all tasted so fresh and not too heavy. The portions were large which gave us leftovers to come home with. This is a BYOB but we did not bring drinks but saw others did and they had nice ice bucket for other people’s wine. At first I thought the staff wasn’t friendly, but they all wished us a happy new year as we left and were very nice. The sushi looked so good, but I didn’t have enough room to try it so I will definitely come back here to try the sushi.

We loved the Nabeyaki Udon! Beautiful presentation, and delicious. Our leftovers were nicely packed with extra chopsticks. Pleasant ambiance, pretty tea cups. All around good experience.

Awesome sushi and pretty reasonably priced for the incredible quality. Definitely going to have to go back!

Probably the utmost in terms of quality for the Collegeville area. The slightly higher price from local competitors is negated by the price being lower than in larger cities. Presentation is on point. Wait staff is professional and attentive. If you live or study in the area, check it out at least once.

Had a great lunch at this interesting and fairly authentic restaurant. The interior is expansive as is their menu, and the fish is very fresh and interesting. The maitre’d is extremely friendly, and will be happy to seat you promptly. There is a large menu that runs the gamut from silly rolls to much more interesting items, such as ankimo(monkfish liver) and botan ebi(giant shrimp). Now keep in mind, this is a 26 Food rated Zagat restaurant, and there are tons of crazy rolls, so don’t expect Manhattan-level omakase experiences. This is a much more casual restaurant, and there is even a large screen tv near the bar area which belies the izakaya/sushi bar vibe of the place. Here’s a rundown of what I had: — Ankimo — monkfish liver was a generous portion, 3 pates, served over some sort of chip which I ignored. The liver itself was fresh, rich, and delicious! — Live scallop — served in the gigantic shell, special of the day, excellent! interesting presentation over ice, and even served the mouth(chewier than the muscle) — Miso soup — pretty standard to be honest, but complimentary, so very nice — Sashimi plate: anago(a little dry, but long and still tasty), toro(a little thinner than usual, not as juicy, but at least not frozen), salmon(good), king crab(dry, but still tasty), hamachi(very good) — Ikura with quail egg — had battleship style of sushi, delicious with the rice, salmon roe was nice, not frozen, and the quail egg was delicious!

Ive only tried this place once & only cause it had raving reviews by some philly magazine or something. Their sushi selection was minimal with none of the new popular rolls, still tasted good. Then had the beef hibachi which was lacking in every single way.(Flavor was off, veggies overcooked, side sauces were grose). Service was good but yet we wer the only ones there. I would not go back. Mot worth the 5 minute drive. Was I suppose to order something different? Did i order somthing that their not known for? Ehhh who cares.

My office ordered take put from here this week and I was so impressed with everything that I had to share some good words. Some places will throw your take out in a bag without much care for how it will hold up during the trip, and I’m happy to say this is not one of those places. Our food was packaged beautifully — all the soy sauce cups were carefully wrapped so as not to spill. Our miso soup was similarly wrapped and the sushi was packaged with a tight fitting plastic lid to keep everything secure. A few of us ordered soda and this restaurant went so far as to include cans of soda and large disposable plastic cups — with ice — and a small piece of plastic tape over the hole in the lid to keep any melting ice from leaking out. I really appreciate the care that went into preparing our food for pick up. I ordered a two roll lunch combo for $ 10.50, which is a great price in my book. My salad and soup were delicious, and the sushi was great too. My spicy salmon roll was especially large and filling. Each roll was six pieces. My only complaint was that there were no spoons included, but this is such a minor thing and we had some on hand at the office, so I didn’t mind.

After moving to PA from the coast of Virginia, I have had my fair share of fresh(and cheap) sushi. We’ve been looking for a place that even comes close to the incredible rolls we used to get, and this place is NOT it. BonJung was recommended by a few new friends, and unfortunately we were less than impressed. We ordered a few basic rolls and a couple special rolls and they were all very bland. Even the house salad wasn’t up to par, and I’m easy to please when it comes to ginger dressing. Theirs was just a bit, off. So now, the hunt for good sushi continues…

This place just hits it out of the park! They are so good. There is a main parking lot that I could not find the first time I went there. It’s there… off of 3rd Ave near the post office. Any way, the food. The sushi is fantastic. I’ve tried so many different rolls, and I have yet to be disappointed. I’ve been over and over and will continue to go. This is a 5 star place all the way.

Being a sashimi purist we regretfully will not be returning anytime soon. The sushi chef pushs the cooked and frozen fish… octopus, shrimp, escolar,(white tuna) … The red snapper is talapia not red snapper. When we asked for fresh fish only out came the attitude… the rice is not seasoned, the portions are small and the attitude and the prices are big… décor is cool but not worth the time or money spent…

Great food Great staff Yummy spicy mayo and yummy ginger dressing The fish was fresh and melted in my mouth– uni was delish, masago and ikura and sake were very good The rolls were huge Fried teriyaki chicken was very good Will definitely I back The only downside was that the sushi and sashimi were 1 piece per order and the fish wasn’t all that thick, other than that it was awesome

After a long flight Korean really fit the bill! I had the tofu stew and galbI combo. Delish! The meat was tender and perfectly marinated. After dinner I asked the waiter to call me a taxi. The sushi chef(owner?) comes over and says«it is only 3 miles away. Your waiter can drive you! « Wow, that’s service. Honestly I don’t mind a $ 20 cab fare. LOL 5.5 stars for service!

Philly suburbs is not known for real authentic Japanese food. The handful of so-called Japanese restaurants mostly serve some thinly sliced fish wrapped in cold sticky rice, with staff dressed in fake kimono costume. Not Bonjung. I’ve been visiting here from work lunch to dinner date, from a quick weekend sushi fix to a well planed party. Yes there were times that we had to wait for a long time and I learned which nights to avoid; Yes there are items on the menu I don’t care for but then I have tried almost everything on both lunch AND dinner menus; there were times our orders were messed up but I understand that a new waiter was in training and that’s the nature of a business. Over all, here is a list that won’t fail me. Lunch: Chirachi — 5 stars. There is something special about their Chirachi. It reminds me of the way my host mom prepared it in Japan. sashimi Deluxe — 5 stars. I fell in love with Bonjung for their thick, fat, juicy, fresh, melt-in-your-mouth sashimi since they opened 9 years ago. I’m still in love for the same reason. Teriyaki Bento(with Chicken or Shrimp) — 4 stars. My daughter loves them. Very cute arrangement with nice flavors. Chicken could be dry occasionally. Last Samurai Roll — 5 stars. Their staple. A must-try. Note: Lunch Specials from the Sushi bar comes with both miso soup and salad. The house salad dressing(ginger) is very nice. Dinner: Seaweed Salad — 4 stars. Decent taste with a bonus star for nice touch of presentation. Hamachi Kama(yellow tail neck) — 4 stars. Nice portions with full flavors. Tuna Tataki — 4 stars. Sliced finely with nice flavors in each layer. Sashimi Dinner(for 1) — 5 stars. Enjoy every piece, every time. Same perfect quality, with nice presentation of fried fish tail. Kids love eating it like fries. Love Boat(for 2) — 5 stars. If you are a hardcore sushi/sashimi fan, you can’t go wrong with this. 12 pieces of their best fresh sashimi and equal amount of sushi, plus shrimp tempura roll, spicy tuna roll and California roll. Worth every penny! Not to forget to mention, all the servers including owner Gregory are super friendly and helpful. We even discuss what’s on TV and Korean dramas. Needless to say, it’s always a nice to go there for fantastic food, friendly service and nice décor. I was lucky enough to discover it since March of 2005. 9 years later, I still come to visit often, and recommend it all the time.

Really nice place and decently priced. Korean owned. We went with the family when we were in town for turkey day. Its nice because its Japanese and Korean and a good variety of both. On par with both cuisines. They are also accomodating and able to make maki rolls without the rice. Presentation is nice too… I got the sashimi salad. Good portion for the price and decent variety as well. Also got an eel roll without rice and size was still good and very tasty. We got the seafood pancake as well. It seemed to lack some seafood but otherwise tasty. Service is a little slow but otherwise a nice place…

My little guy and I were looking for some full on sushi feed. Unfortunately, this place crashed and burned. Gyoza to start was nice. Crispy and tasty filling. Squid appetizer was uninspired sliced, steamed and bland. Served with a side of siracha based sauce. Uni was old tasting and maki was malformed. Place was empty on a Saturday night. I can see why.

This is by far my favorite sushi restaurant of all time. I lived in Collegeville 4 years going to school at Ursinus and my boyfriend and I went here at least once a month. Each time we went, we always got something complimentary from the sushi bar. We ordered 2 rolls each, trying to try something new each time we ordered. My boyfriend would make sure to get the Last Samurai Roll every time. We have ordered at least 80% of the special rolls and were never disappointed. Some of my favorites include Alligator Roll, Junee’s Roll, and Spider Roll. The service is always reliably quick and friendly. We tipped the sushi chefs every time after our satisfying culinary experience. This place is definitely what I miss most about living in Collegeville.
