This place had great food. One day I ordered food by delivery & a roach ran out of the bag they put the fork & spoon & napkin in. Fortunately, I was able to smash it on my table before it got loose in my house. I never went back after that!

Such a shame. Found out today this place changed management and it’s all down hill from there. The place lacks the coziness and décor the previous owners established. The place just screams(going out of business soon) now. Stopped in today and half of their soups were sold out before 3pm? It did not appear there was any kitchen staff either(something the previous owners also did right … If something was almost done the kitchen staff was already in the process of making more). After we sampled one of the soups it became apparent I would not be frequenting this establishment anymore. The previous owners have a new shop in Mineola … If only it wasn’t such a long drive **sigh** I hate to say it but avoid this place

Judging by the photos that were posted on Unilocal,I believe this place has new management but don’t take my word for it. The new name is Mama’s Kitchen. Mama’s Kitchen? More like expensive soup kitchen! I really disliked this place. Why? — the chairs and table is cheap, flimsy wood. Therefore, this created a bad presentation to start with — your soup is served to you in plastic containers(the one’s you get from Asian restaurants). No nice plates/cups nor store label on the containers at the very least! — there is barely any vegetarian options. I asked and was told with a slight attitude that there is one or two options in the soups/salad sections. Please try to introduce some, the nice place you have could have some amazing potential if you introduced delicious and healthier options too — I ordered split pea soup and it was horrible. I could tell that it was some reheated soup. My BF ordered a clam chowder soup and I was instantly reminded of the canned soup you buy from the supermarket. Ugh. You do get the option of bread or croutons on the side though, yay! — the music is dreadful and just the whole layout inside of the place is dreadful — the cashier lady was pleasant overall and she does have potential with time and practice. One advice though: please, at the very least, have a fresh jar of coffee ready in case customers walk in. And, furthermore, know how to use the coffee machine! I mean come on! I worked as a barista once and I at the very least got to know how to operate it before my first day of work. She had to call in two guys from the back to help her. And turns out she did not even turn it on! One button. Ends up that the coffee she gave off was also too watered down, hmm — we ordered two small soups and two small coffees and the bill came out to be $ 14…and there’s a $ 10 minimum if you want to pay by credit card fyi I am writing this review not to bash this place but to present my concerns in an effort for the manager and workers to improve Mama’s Kitchen. The place is located in a nice area and the outside presentation is pleasant. But there has to be improvements on the inside. When I look at the photos on this store’s Unilocal page, I see a great difference to my visit to the place. I hope it is simply an under maintenance period.

Loveeeee this place. I was never too fond of soup, but when I came here I fell in love with soup! My favorite soup has got to be the chicken pot pie soup. Amazingggg. It’s full of chicken and veggies, the soup itself is very creamy, and its topped with a delicious biscuit. Other great picks are the New England clam chowder, the lobster bisque, and the tomato soup which comes with grilled cheese croutons. They also make great fresh sandwiches. My favorite is the honey chicken salad sandwich. The best so far.

Meh. For the hype, and the prices, I’ve experienced better. There is nothing to distinguish the soup here from a canned soup at home. For a place that specializes in soup, their menu choices are bland and un-exciting.

Soup is good. Service is OK, but full of attitude. The wraps are more fluff than stuffed. Chick Caesar Wrap was all lettuce and tomato with a few small pieces of chicken. Keep away from the undersized $ 8.00 salads, they’re very disappointing. They should just keep to the soup, because that’s the only thing they sell that’s worth your money. Unless like I said you enjoy the sour puss faces everyone behind the counter has on their grim faces.

Excellent soups and sandwiches. Tried several soups at the Mineola location so far and none disappoint. Favorite so far is the Hungarian Beef Goulash. Owner and staff are very pleasant.

I love the whole idea of Mama soup, and all the sleections are great. They recently added sandwiches and wraps to their menu which made me super happy. I gave them four stars because the employess are always really night and I like the homey feel to their business, but the soup has really fallen off the last few times I came here it was really lacking flavor. The chicken soup is so bland and flavorless. Go for a cream based soup.

there’s something about warm soup that makes your tummy smile. soup is my go to meal whether i have a cold, tummy ache, or just a bad day. we accidentally discovered mama soup while taking a shortcut through college point. mama soup has a neighborly feel to it. upon entering we immediately felt welcomed and was attended to. we tried the mama beef goulash and chicken noodle soup. the goulash was a bit pricey at $ 8.00 a pint but it was all beef. it could easily be a dinner entrée if poured over rice. the chicken soup was standard with onion, celery, shredded chicken breast, and bowtie pasta. overall, even though the price was a bit high, their soups are homemade with fresh ingredients.

Went to Mama Soup for the second time and was pleased to see that they offer delicious salads and rice bowls. I had the goat cheese salad with grilled chicken which was just enough food and healthy as well. Normally I don’t like fruit in my salad but the orange slices and cranberries was outrageous. Despite the heat I still had to get a lentil soup for later.

Good, but pricey. Wish they made lentil & split pea without pork.

We love ordering from Mama Soup! We are a holistic nutritionist and we have a lot of trouble finding food in the neighborhood that we can eat. Almost everything at Mama Soup is ‘on our program’. They seem to be very busy and sometimes take a long time to deliver, but if you’re prepared for that, it’s worth the wait. There’s a reason they’re so busy, right?

It was a cold rainy day today and soup sounded good. We ordered takeout and I went with the clam chowder. It wasn’t the best clam chowder I’ve ever had. It wasn’t quite as thick as I like my chowder, but I wouldn’t categorize it as runny or watery either. There were nice chuncks of potato in the soup cooked perfectly(i.e. not mushy). The pint size was a perfect size for lunch. The dinner roll I got with the meal was really good too. I can’t speak for the service since we did takeout, but I would definitely go back to Mama Soup the next time I find myself in the area.

I live 3 blocks away and I happen to be a big soup person but I didn’t go until today and«hallelujah» great great great soup. The place is very cute and cozy, they also have 14 different kinds of soups, I had the new England clam chowder and I was blown away. Not fishy but made to perfection. the soup is served with bread and even that was good(or maybe I just love bread lol) the girls are also very nice and helpful. I will deff be back ! Ps. I was told they will introduce cream of broccoli in about a week. HORRAYFORGOODSOUPINCOLLEGEPOINT !

I love soup. Whether it is 100 degrees or 0 degrees, I will eat soup. Breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert. People are always commenting on my odd eating behaviors, but food is food. It tastes the same to me whether the sun is up or down. I have tried two selections from Mama Soup last year when they first opened. One time I had the Split Pea, the next time I had Goulash. Well, both times I got two meals out of my order. I thought both were really good. Very hearty and HOT(and we had them delivered — go figure!) It comes with your choice or bread or rice. Nothing beats bread and soup! I have had co-workers that said the Chili is perfect — not to spicy, but the Seafood Bisque was a bit too watery. I was very happy with my two choices and not sure I’d be daring enough to try the Chicken Noodle! Looking forward to being a repeat customer.

Mama Soup has quickly become the best thing to come out of College Point since ME! There are so many different soups to choose from, each one better than the last. The service is always outstanding. The atmosphere is super cozy and quaint. I’m pretty sure they’re situated in some kind of historical space so if you’re into history or a total nerd, you should enjoy that tidbit. If you live in the area, seriously, what the h are you waiting for? Try this soup. If you don’t live in the area, it is definitely worth the trip. While you’re in town, why not stop in at La Cheesecake for some delish desserts? Enjoy!
