First let me thank June for always being ultra nice and accommodating excellent customer service. I work in a elementary school and I do not have enough time to go out for lunch. June delivers to my school although I’m a little farther. I picked this place bc of the pics I saw here on Unilocal. My instinct was right the food is delicious. The red bull roll and hurricane roll are my favorite. Once my co-workers saw the yummy food I had they now order from there too. The steak bowl is also great, the steak is delicious.

In a college town, totally understand the less than stellar interior, as I assume, that most folk don’t actually sit down, rather take out or have their food delivered. Lots of restaurants in the area, this place is kinda divey in my humble opinion. Parking is around and about. There is a garage nearby and street parking, you will pay until at least 10p. Yes they will ticket you. Yes this sucks. Seriously. Pretty simple menu folks, they have various options from boxes, to specials on sushi and hibachi deals. Some of the rolls are plastered all up and through on the walls. The rolls are nicely made, and are of good size/quality. Everything that I had, the rainbow roll, black spider roll, squid salad, etc… was pretty flippin good. My issue was, the actual rolls, yes they were large, yes they tasted good, but they were more rice than anything else. Most of the filling was non-existent. That was a true bummerization. That plus the lack of any soda fountain, I mean EVERY option was out of order including the ice… made me just wonder whhhhhaaatt? The staff were helpful enough; although busy. Perhaps if I’m in the area and crave a sushi fix I’d get a take out, I can’t imagine that I’d return for any other reason.

Horrible place. A menu online said the price for Habachi Steak with Mushroom was $ 8.49( ) and they tried to overcharge me. The manager tells me their prices have changed but they should still honor the price online since that is what’s being advertised. I will never eat here or recommend that people eat here. I will take my future business to sukura japan.

To paraphrase A Clockwork Orange, this place serves a college sushi for those of college sushi age. Since I’m a fully grown man, however, albeit a College Park townie, I don’t quite have nearly the same love affair with large portions of average sushi that I once did. Don’t get me wrong. If you’re looking for sushi filled so full of rice that the seaweed will not even attempt to hold it in its innards filled with some vegetable or fish that is almost unidentifiable when it reaches the table at a very decent price, this place should definitely be an option. In fact, their combo deal prices have driven me to get the sushi from here delivered on more than a few occasions. However, the actual inside of the actual location leaves a bit to be desired for anything more than pickup. Inside, this is little more than a sushi bar, a register, and some tables(not even booths). They try to set some sort of college atmosphere with various pictures of Maryland scholar athletes(some signed). But the paper on the walls just made me feel like this place was unclean. Not in a health violation way but in the way where it was divey(but without being dark). Even though I’m guessing some students go here on date nights, because I know back when I was in college, sushi was a bit of a fancier go to, I’m a bit beyond that. Still for quick sushi fix, it does the trick.

Last time I was in this place, I looked at the menu and went to the phở place next door. Should have stuck with that judgment. We got a few different rolls — uniformly poor. Small and many hours old if not days. I don’t understand it as my Japanese mom used to make rolls, primarily futomaki, for picnics and despite the passage of hours, the rice seemed fresh and the rolls great. Perhaps these folks refrigerate the rolls. The shrimp tempura appetizer was also terrible. The tempura crust was soft and mushy, more like a corndog than crispy tempura. The same was true for the accompanying tempura onion and sweet potato slices, the latter of which we mistook for french fries initially because they were so unlike tempura sweet potato in regular Japanese restaurants. I made the mistake of ordering this carry-out order via Grubhub, which meant I was charged for everything ordered even though the didn’t have the squid salad in stock. They called to warn me and said they would process a refund. When leaving, I had to remind the busy counter fellow about the refund they had promised me. I was paid in cash, which was nice for a credit card order. Seemed like nice folks, which is why I gave them two stars. I have to think they don’t think college students have any taste or discretion. Maybe, but that just suggests I should eat farther away from the college, where students more rarely roam.

Good place for quick, decent sushi. The combo boxes are a nice deal and perfect for lunch. Don’t expect ambiance, expect decent fast food japanese at a good price.

The sushi here is absolutely delicious, especially the specialty hot night roll. They have a deal where you can get 3 regular rolls for 14.95 which is not bad at all for how delicious they are! The service is great. If you’re in the area, you have to go!

I graduated a few years ago from UMD yet I still miss the hibachi steak and zucchini(instead of mushroom)… Sometimes I even crave it. So I guess you could say I’m a fan! Especially that yellow sauce… oh so good! Please be sure to grab those yellow and brown(soy sauce-looking ones) sauces to go with your hibachi. I’ve never tried the sushi so I can’t say much about it, besides my friends never complained about their sushi from Kiyoko.

The sushi looked and tasted exactly like I was craving for. The guy that delivered my food said he had a seat warmer in his car so that the food stays warm which I though was thoughtful.

Decent place to grab dinner in CP — fairly quick and food is pretty good, especially if you get their combo specials! Everytime I’ve gone with friends — usually weekends after 9 pm, it’s fairly quiet. Bf and I usually get one simple sushi roll like the Alaska roll(salmon, cucumber, and avocado) and the steak/shrimp combo special, which comes with a choice of fried or plain rice, veggies, and their signature shrimp & ginger sauces. The last time we were here, the sushi roll(prepared separately from the hot dishes) came out quickly(like 10 – 15 mins?) and we waited perhaps another 10 for our combo special. We were luck to have ordered first in our big group because the subsequent orders seemed to take much longer… anyway, it was just the right amount of food to fill both of us up, and their sauces definitely make the meal more flavorful. The shrimp sauce is my favorite — kinda like a spicy mayo sauce with a little bit of tart. Food itself is pretty standard, though the fried rice was a little bland — solution: add soy sauce(which they have next to the drink counter). Our sushi roll was just okay, not particularly fresh ingredients but pretty typical for CP fare, though I was a little surprised that the rice didn’t have the usual vinegar taste… which it’s supposed to have. Probably a mistake/off-day though since I don’t usually have that problem with the sushi rice at this place, oh well. Like I said, pretty decent for CP standards. Service is okay, food is good and not expensive, and they’ve got really good side sauces.

Terrible!!! I’ll never come back here again, their ingredients are definitely not fresh. i heard this place was known for their spicy tuna roll but I swear that the tuna they used is canned!!! The fried rice was Soo dry, it was probably made from really old rice. The rice for the sushi was super moist and squishy, not what rice in good sushi should feel or taste like. The cook was not good and you could tell he had no experience, which made the wait time super long! I’m just really disappointed in this restaurant and don’t plan on coming back! If you know what good sushi tastes like, save yourself the trip.

Ah, Kiyoko. The cheapest Japanese place in College Park. I wouldn’t go here if you’re looking for something fancy — when I ate in here once, my hot udon soup was served in a styrofoam container. However, what Kiyoko lacks in the fancy department they make up for in selection — they have the widest selection of «special rolls» in College Park(and they are huge and filling!) Kiyoko also has some tasty udon soup(though warning, it is really salty so if you’re not into that don’t get it!) I wasn’t a huge fan of the teriyaki chicken or fried rice — kind of tasteless — or their gyoza(buy a bag of frozen ones from Costco/your friendly neighborhood Asian market instead) — but the sushi and udon are tasty stuff!

Top 5 in College Park cuisine. That’s kinda like being a medalist in the Special Olympics though. Their regular sushi rolls are in no way special. If you’re a raw fish connoisseur you’ll know that there’s no such thing as good sushi in this town. That being said, their specialty rolls are tasty, albeit unrefined. The Kiyoko roll and King NI roll top my list here, because that deep fried outer shell and spicy mayo provide crispy melty gooey solace for my taste buds. Hard to explain, but the steak and chicken have a distinct texture that really doesn’t scream«I’m high quality meat!» but at the same time doesn’t stop me from eating it either. Pro Tip: The«Teriyaki Rice Bowls» are the same thing as the entrees, minus the veggies, and are like three or four bucks cheaper. Finally, and most importantly… SHRIMPSAUCE. Shrimp sauce over everything. 4 stars because I can’t get out of here without spending like 15 – 20 bucks each time and that’s some decent coin for pseudo-Japanese food prepared by Filipinos.

I feel dreadful. I should have reviewed this place ages ago, especially since I go through phases where I get dinner there several nights a week. Anyway, this is one of the few restaurants that makes College Park into something other than a howling wasteland of corporate fast casual dining chains. I’m kind of boring when it comes to sushi, I just want some raw fish, and some rice. If there’s seaweed involved, that’s fine too. I do however like their tempura shrimp rolls. They do these things well and for not a lot of moolahs. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention their dumplings. Dumplings. Order them. Eat them. I haven’t had their tempura in a while because I thought it was a too heavy on the potatoes, so that is the only thing I’d not recommend. A word about Parking — There is none for this strip of stores. Either park across the street or the garage around the corner. Or you can do the radical thing with your feet and walk there. Or the public transport thing and take the bus.

Just good cheap sushi that College Kids should love. Their $ 13 –3 roll special is 24pcs. You can’t beat that! It’s pretty good sushi, better than most sushi, but certainly not as good as Kaz or Yuraku… Three and a half stars, rounding up for Unilocal’s sake. They have a long list of unique Special Rolls and pictures on the wall to match. Most of them are variations of California or Spicy Tuna rolls. The Hurricane Roll is my favorite so far. Their Volcano Roll is similar to others but better than most. I’ve also enjoyed the Super Hot Roll, the King Ni, and the Red Bull Roll. Which is a copyright infringement that is undifferentiable from the King Ni. Thankfully, it does not contain Red Bull Energy Drink either. They also have a Salmon Tempura Roll, a Tempura Krabstick Roll, and several of their signature rolls are deep fried… which is nice. I’ve also never tried their Hibachi menu and I never will. I come here for random unique Sushi Rolls, and this place has some good ones. So, for better than average, relatively cheap, voluminous, tasty & unique sushi, This is the spot.

Let me start off saying that the sushi is good. Very unique. Very yummy. BUT. It’s inconsistent. The sizes of the rolls are different every time. They’re quite slow as well, delivery and sit down. They clearly attempt to save money on things like napkins, etc. because there’s none out for you to grab. It gets a bit cramped and loud at times, but it is good food.

I’ve gone here a couple times since I live nearby– it’s convenient and one of the few Japanese places within walking distance of home so it’s my unfortunate go-to when I have a craving. Their sushi is pretty standard– I’ve only had a few and they were ok. Recently, I have been getting their yakisoba and and tried their avocado salad. The avocado salad is a let-down– I expected something more than just lettuce, dressing, and slices of avocado on top and for the price– not worth it. Yakisoba is good but not as filling as I’d expect. On the public health side: I can see into the kitchen. The guy making sushi wears gloves but the guy at the grill/making my yakisoba/etc. doesn’t. I don’t like that/being able to see that at all. Overall, I think it’s pretty pricey for a college town restaurant– that’s $ 9 – 11 right there for the yakisoba, depending on what meat you get, and I can’t even make the yakisoba last for 2 meals(& it’s usually not hard to as a girl). I’d only go there if I had a craving for Japanese food.
