Nice little shop featuring all kinds of merchandise for the home. All kinds of knick knacks and accessories from paper products, to paintings, to holiday items, candles, and an assortment of items both humorous and thoughtful. It’s one of those spots to find that unique gift for an older relative or for someone who appreciates some thought put into a present. The lady working the counter the day we were here also offered up some good suggestions on where else to shop in town and eat at for dinner. She was very nice and helpful. It’s another shop on Main Street that gives Cold Spring it’s hometown appeal.

Very cute merchandise, unfortunately we were treated very rude by the person running the store. She made us feel extremely unwelcome. We were told that we were not able to take any pictures in the store, which is completely understandable and we complied with this request. She followed this up with a snide comment about us using her store for social media. Although I wanted to make some purchases in the store as gifts for my family, after being treated like this I wouldn’t purchase anything nor return to this store.

A terrific little store in quaint Cold Spring, the Country Touch has been providing tasteful home accessories to area residents and tourists alike for some time now. The owner is a warm and personable woman who mans the register with aplomb and carefully rings up and wraps each purchase. I stop in here several times a year to browse and almost always emerge with a purchase of high quality. They have a wonderful selection of framed pictures, all tasteful and artistic, that would lend an elegant touch to any home. Most are reasonably priced. I picked up an 18th century-style painting of a girl reading a book for around $ 65 and it looks great in my house. The Country Touch also offers a lot of framed photographs of West Point, Cold Spring and the Hudson Highlands area, and I’ve picked up one of these as well. The store also offers a variety of other items to decorate your home, from lace curtains to holiday-themed products to cooking essentials to things for your furry friends. I’ve picked up bowls for the cats here. They’re nice, solidly-crafted products that feature such titles as «Angel,» «Killer,» and«The Damn Cat» stamped across the front. I was also loving the store’s collection of whimsical hand towels featuring smiling, 1950’s-era housewives and such bold statements as «It’s Been Lovely But I Have To Scream Now,» and«Coffee: Do Stupid Things Faster With More Energy.» Everyone I’ve ever brought to this store loves it. My friend picked up something for her husband here — a plaque that reads«No Husband Has Ever Been Shot For Doing The Dishes.» It now rests in a place of honor in their kitchen. She’s been bugging me about visiting Cold Spring during the holidays so she can swing by this store to do some Christmas shopping. I’d be glad to bring her here. I’m sure I can pick up some lovely Christmas presents at this store myself. The Country Touch is one of my favorite spots to browse for unique holiday gifts, right up there with the Village Sampler in Montgomery, N.Y., which I assure you is a shopping experience that is difficult to top.
