Tonight I ate marshmallow and it blew my mind. Perfectly roasted on a beach drift wood fire, this mallow had depth of flavor similar to any similarly warmed puff of sugar. We obviously used Jet-Puffed. The mallow was crisp on the outside, oozy on the inside. The found stick added an earthy essence. As I gummed the goo, I desired a second taste. The second mallow surely topped the first but hit the same high notes of processed sugar. I was sticky when I left, but I felt dull and fulfilled. Why are marshmallows a cylinder? You tell me.

This little park has it all. There is a beach side area right along the Hudson that has places to sit and picnic benches. There is also a very short and easy hike you can do that takes you to the top of the cliff and get STUNNING views of the Hudson, Bear Mountain, Bannerman’s Castle, Breakneck Ridge, etc. If you are going to Little Stony Point, you have to go to the top and see the view. It’s just beautiful. It’s so serene and beautiful. Such a lovely spot.

Beautiful little hike during a day trip away from NYC. i came in the middle of the week so most of little stony point was super deserted aside from a few locals hanging out. Stumbled upon the beachy area in the middle of the park so we threw down a blanket to have lunch and waded in the water. The whole area was so serene and awesome for spending a day off in the middle of the week!

Excellent place to go for a stroll or hike with friends, your dog, or solo. I’d definitely recommend checking this place out! While you’re in the area if you’re looking for very challenging hikes, check out Mt. Taurus or Breakneck Ridge.

Excellent place. 1) You got the Hudson River beach, clifftop and panoramic views! 2) It is a short and easy walk/hike. Everyone can do it. 3) The place is a loop, so it is easy to finish.

This is a nice little park. It is right across the street from Mt. Taurus, which is an awesome but much longer hike. Little Stony Point can be broken down into two main areas. The beach and the lookout point. I’m a big fan of taking people to the lookout point as the view there is great and the walk is probably no more than 20 minutes round trip. The lookout point is not nearly as high as Breakneck or Mt. Taurus, but it is still at a nice high elevation and is MUCH closer to the river. Upon entering the park and crossing the railroad bridge you want to continue straight. Right leads to the beach, left leads to who knows where. You want the narrow path in the middle going through the woods. In less than ten minutes you will be rewarded with great elevated views of the Hudson River. Enjoy! Edited to add — the location on the map is wrong. Little Stony Point is about half a mile *north* of Cold Spring on 9D. The map for some reason shows it as being in the middle of Cold Spring. That’s wrong.

One of my favorite parks in Cold Spring for taking a stroll. The path is easy to walk and the views along the water are beautiful. Very peaceful! It can get crowded on weekends when the weather is nice, but there are other trails in the area where you can escape the crowds if needed.

This is a great park offers hiking trails which are mostly flat that make for an easy walk. It is a great place to pet walk or just relax and watch the water as it flows along in the Hudson River. If you take the upper trail it provides a great view and if you are here at low tide you can walk out into the river on a sand bar, just make sure the tide isn’t coming in or you will wind up with wet feet as it does come in fast.

Though more popular in fairer weather, there is something serene about going through this modest loop off season. In my case it was today with the teasing Spring blowing gently in the breeze, my little friend G and I went for a short trod through the park and see if the bears have awoken from their hibernation deep within the caves(just kidding) or if there were lions in their winter den. This would be a nice walk for the kids as it begins and ends with a walk over the Senator Vincent L. Leibell Bridge over the Amtrak/MetroNorth train tracks. Great fun when the trains are underneath! One can walk out to the water, no swimming!, and take in the majestic beauty of the Hudson River all in under 30 minutes or less. Little Stony Point is well worth a visit regardless of the season. Parking is right there, too. LSP is located on Route 9D between Cold Spring and Beacon. (ROAR! When I was little, being a LEo and all, I used to think this song was Lion Eyes, LOL.)
