Chan’s Asian Wok has fairly decent food. But nothing overly exciting. I ordered the beef with garlic sauce and mixed vegetables. It was supposed to be a spicy dish, but had absolutely no heat or spicy flavor at all. It was good, but tasted like every other standard Chinese meal. I was quite disappointed. I ordered fried rice with mine. Not QUITE a fried rice, but more of a white rice with a brownish tint. It had none of the regular fried rice items in it(ie: eggs, onion bits, etc.) I had an eggroll also, which was crispy and delicious. My husband ordered the pork lo mein. It was ok. The noodles were a bit dry. Not enough sauce. Overall, the food isn’t terrible, if you want something fast. But, some of their dishes are a bit lacking.

As far as Chinese, this is about as American as it gets. Everything(ingredient-wise) seems frozen, then thawed, and fried. The chicken tastes old, the rice is not true fried rice, and the egg rolls were soggy inside. Really nothing to be desired here.

I’ve had better food at a buffet, saw wok in the name figured it would be fresh and cooked on a wok. Nope…

I go here for lunch on occasion and am always happy with my choice. The food is good and the service is too. You’ll be happy with the price as well.

The young wait staff was horrible. Our waiter was slow and did not take our empty plates, or refill our drinks. He also did not give us our check, we had to ask fot it at the register. And the chicken that I had was mushy/watery, The friend I was with asked for extra lo mien noodles and did not receive extra lo mien noodles.

They charge for soy sauce packets. They were going to charge me $ 2 for 10 of them.

This is decent Chinese food at a reasonable price. I’ve been here often when I need a quick meal. The food didn’t blow me away, but it’s good, just nothing special. The dishes I feel sometimes just don’t have much to them. I’ve never had anything bad there though. The menu is pretty extensive so we’ve never had a problem finding something. I used to be vegetarian and I was able to find suitable food for me then too. When we get carry out from here, it has come in very nice, dish washer, microwave safe plastic containers. We love these and end up reusing them for quite a while. So order carry out and get a bonus reusable container!

I’ve dined in and gotten take-out here. My most recent order was Kung Pao Chicken(take-out) with brown rice($ 1 extra) and Thai rolls. Hubby got Chicken Pad Thai. He was very disappointed with the pad thai and ended up throwing it away after only eating about a quarter of it – said it was filled with cabbage, couldn’t find any chicken, and the flavor was bad. So, you probably want to stick to actual Chinese food here. My Kung Pao came in a plastic sectioned container, brown rice on one side, chicken/veg/sauce on the other. It was nice for take-out, but the portion was actually kind of small for Chinese food. Plenty for a meal, but don’t plan on making multiple meals from it if that’s what you’re used to. The chicken wasn’t the best quality ever, but the flavor of the dish overall was good. Fairly mild spice, so if you like spicy, you’ll have to request it. I liked the ‘Thai Rolls’ – essentially deep-fried, vegetarian Spring Rolls. Pricing is pretty standard; they usually have coupons in local mailers so that makes the value even better.

Chan’s is the best Chinese in the Cold Spring/Alexandria/Highland Heights area, hands down. They serve your typical Chinese-American fare, but the dishes are much better quality than other Chinese places in the area. It’s a great place to get take out if you work close by. The staff are very friendly whether you dine in or get it to go, and after a few trips, they’ll already be remembering your orders. Their egg rolls, spring rolls, and crab rangoons are all solid appetizer choices. My favorite dish used to be the General Tso’s chicken, but once I tried their Mongolian beef, I never looked back. The seasoned and sauteed beef goes great with the big hunks of mushrooms, onions, baby corn, and other vegetables. The sauce is just perfect as well, especially if you ask for it extra spicy. All their entrees come with chicken satay, which is nice. The prices are all very reasonable, and you get a big portion for the money. If you’re in the area and craving good Chinese food, this is a can’t miss.

I recently went to Chan’s with my father when we were visiting family in Cincinnati. I had the chicken with mixed vegetables(picture included). It was pretty standard except the vegetables included squash and green beans and everything tasted fresh. Also I ordered brown rice and got no complaints. Portion size was just right. My father had the jumbo shrimp and mixed vegetables(picture included). He said it was good and the egg roll was egg roll was fresh tasting and excellent.

We dropped in for lunch on a Sat. recently and I have to say the staff is very friendly and prompt. I think they must do a lot of take out from the signage on the windows and the automatic question asked as anyone walked in… Take Out? We ate in and chose the peppered chicken, which although tasty, didn’t have any particular Asian flair, we thought. I had one of the shrimp dishes, which was spicy and saucy(both important to me!). We tried both the brown rice and fried rice, as well as the sweet & sour soup. Prices are reasonable. I’d visit again. It’s in a shopping center with a Kroger, Kohl’s, Home Depot, etc.

Still probably the nicest of Chan’s slowly growing chain of local Chinese restaurant/take-out joints. Okay, yes, it’s a hole-in-the-wall in a strip mall. Okay, yes, it’s not fine dining –in point of fact, it might be an unwise first choice for a date night. But it’s honestly GOOD dining, when you dine in. Non-traditional, but perfectly respectable for a business lunch, or a family dinner. The atmosphere is nice, the food is awesome, and the staff is unfailingly polite. And the take-out is AWESOME –the key to every Chinese restaurant, really. Face it: these little take-out restaurants, for all their faults, are the mom&pop Italian spaghetti parlors of the twentryfirst century. Immigrant families using good food, good service and long hours to bootstrap their way into the American middle class. And that’s awesome. You should give them your business.

Acceptable take-out, not very flavorful and they could put some sauces in the bag with the take-out. The hot and sour soup was neither, a real let down. However it was not bad, as in rotten, just flavorless. I also got the lo mein with all the meats, also very so-so.
