Highly recommended. Best in area. You can’t go wrong… Excellent pizza, wings, mozzarella sticks, pasta, homemade marinara sauce. Best bleu cheese ever! Locally-owned«Mom and Pop» pizza place run by cool, down-to-earth folks who make a sincere effort to do a good job.(Last year they were even open during snowstorm. That’s dedication.) Dine in, pick up, or delivery. Open on Sunday! *Another reviewer complained about the dining room. Hey… nothing fancy, but personally I think it’s delightfully retro and always looks very clean. I would love to see a few old arcade games in the corner. **As far as customer service goes, once in a while they have a moody yet functional chick at the counter and the next time I stop in someone friendly is there. Nobody’s perfect…

So my family and I are new to Cohoes and we are trying every pizza place within range of our home before we try a particular place twice. It’s Wednesday night about 1700 when we place our order. I’m very meticulous in making sure everything was clear and concise with the order. Forty five minutes I was told it would take for preparation and delivery. At 1730 we get a phone call from the pizza joint stating our credit card we paid with was declined. I verified the info and they had copied the number down wrong; honest mistake. At 1810 a car pulls up in front of the house, I assume it’s the pizza delivery guy and go to the door, open the door, and stand there for ’bout five minutes. No markings on the car, no hat, no uniform and the driver is clearly texting so I assume it couldn’t be my food. I return to my living room and ten minutes later the bell rings. Same guy that was texting downstairs ten minutes ago! So texting was more important than the tip he would have received. Food ok. Prices ok. The staff could care less about your business so don’t bother!

Hot wings are really good! Pizza is really good when the owner is there. Hit or miss when he’s not. The skinny blonde is good too but the others don’t seem to care much.

I wish Cohoes House of Pizza was closer to home so that it can be my usual pizza joint. Growing up in Waterford I always ordered my pizza and wings from Cohoes House. The pizza itself is very good. It’s not frozen and the toppings we usually get(pepperoni and sausage) always came out great and was never greasy. Sometimes I request garlic on the crust, and they do so without issue. I usually get the BBQ wings and fried mushrooms as well. The wings are great for what they are, meaty and flavorful, and the mushrooms are just standard deep fried mushrooms. The ranch they use is quite delicious. The place may look dirty and old, but the owner and staff are always helpful and nice, and our order is always ready on time. Decent food for a decent price.

I’ve lived in Cohoes for just over 2 years now and have had a chance to sample the local cuisines. Having said that, Cohoes House of Pizza is the reason I signed up an account at Unilocal!I’ve sampled a large array of what they offer on their menu and everything is always perfect. You have to try their wings. They have several different flavors and I consider them the best in town. Salads are delicious. The portions are generous — we always have leftovers when ordering out. Other notables: staff is courteous, delivery is prompt, prices are great. It goes without saying that we’re an oft-repeat customer and will continue to be.

I know nothing about the pizza but the wings are pretty damn good. The hot buffalo sauce is unlike any other standard sauce. It is a bright reddish orange with lots of specks of black pepper(?). To me it doesn’t taste like the normal butter and frank’s red hot. Be prepared for alot of heat because this place seems to be the only place that can pack in the heat and still have amazing flavor. The wings themselves are not puny sized, at least the couple of times I have gotten them. Unfortunately I have never had it right at the shop, only gotten take out and had to wait at least 20 minutes since I don’t live that close. I think they would be even better if I had them there. I used to really enjoy The Ale house wings but the last time I was there they just didn’t taste as great.

I recently moved to Cohoes and was looking forward to the PIZZACHALLENGE, the ultimate face-off in pizza competition between the two pizza parlors that sit across from each other on Remsen Street: Cohoes House of Pizza and Hometowne Pizza. Little did I know that it would not be much of a contest. Hometowne Pizza is the clear and easy winner. There’s nothing to recommend here, as far as pizza goes, which surprising given the restaurant’s name. I’ve ordered two pizzas from them, a plain black olive and mushroom pizza, and one of their specialties, a buffalo chicken pizza. I was severely disappointed in both. First of all, the crusts seemed too round, too flat and disc-like. It took until the second pizza for me to realize that this might be because the crusts are bought pre-made and frozen. I can’t say this with certainty, though. What I can say is that the crust is completely tasteless and the entire completed pizza has the consistency of a frozen pizza. The slices are stiff triangles, and nothing moves when you tip it upside down. It’s kind of unnerving. And almost insulting. You’d do just as well to buy a frozen Tony’s pizza. I am not kidding. I still have to try their calzones, grinders, etc. But as of right now, the House of Pizza gets the big thumbs down from me.
