I can’t believe this place closed! Bread & Jam Café was such a cute and cozy shop. Cohoes is a dead town with so much potential, and I was really hoping that this place would be the start of something great for the community. Bread & Jam frequently showcased talented musicians, which was always a pleasant surprise when I was just hanging out in the café. It is sad to see this place close!

Why do good things never want to stay? I loved this place. But it’s closed now, which is a shame, because it would actually make me venture to the Spindle City.

i am so sad to see the Bread & Jam close. In my opinion more people need to start eating at local unique places like this to keep them open. :(

Bread and Jam has a liquor license now, so they offer wine and beer, with a 5 – 7 happy hour every weekday!

I really, really hope this place survives. The Bread and Jam Café is a just about year old and is located in Cohoes, NY, which is a total void of life, culture, and activity. This medium-sized café provides a beautiful, bright, creative, and unpretentious space that inspires the following: *Conversation amongst friends *Consumption of delicious coffee, espresso, hot chocolate, smoothies, etc. *Nibbling of some lite fare or dessert *Enjoyment of live music from both local and nationally recognized artists several times a week(I was there when John Hampson, of Nine Days fame, played… think: «this is… a story of a girl») *Purchasing of old school library books($ 1 for hardcovers) *Wii lunch(apparently you can play Wii fit at lunch time six days a week… nice!) The space at B&J Café is large and painted a vibrant yellow. The couches, tables, and chairs are arranged a bit awkwardly but only to accommodate the stage for performances, which occur several times a week(usually for free). This minor misstep in feng shui can easily be forgiven as it is easy to still cozy at home just about anywhere inside. The staff is one of the most unpretentious coffeehouse staff I have encountered anywhere, which says quite a bit. But because of its location I just don’t know how it can survive. Since I don’t live in the area I can’t contribute by coming in all the time and doing my part so I can only hope that others find out about this gem and enjoy the drinks and sounds the Bread and Jam is looking to share with the Capital District.

I spend a lot of time in coffee houses/shops, and ever since Slow Jed’s in Averill Park went out of business, I’ve been searching for a comparable coffee shop. Now Bread and Jam is no Slow Jed’s, because you just can’t match the fresh, homebaked desserts of Slow Jed’s, but the place does have a pretty good vibe. The seating is comfortable and the«Famous Dippers» are yummy — my fave is the mint chocolate chip one. The sandwiches are decent ahd the slaw that comes on side is delicious. On Saturday evenings they have a Wii Rock Band«Battle of the Bands,» for which mostly folks under the age of 16 show up. All in all, it’s a comfortable atmosphere in which to grab some caffeine and hang with friends or set up with your laptop and take advantage of the free wi-fi.
