Love this place! I am a minestrone soup aficionado and they have the best! I visit once a week at least for takeout and a great glass of wine. This family owned restaurant has great fresh ingredients: amazing Tiramasu, bread and boutique pizzas on top of their traditional Italian fare. Skip the chains and visit this place — they won’t disappoint.

Food was good, not great, very small place, not as authentic as I expected it to be. The tiramisu was very good.

Visiting from Tennessee and craving Italian. Lucky for us we found Uva. Food was delicious and service was spectacular… very friendly and efficient. One of our meals was late coming out because it was not prepared to the chef’s standards. It was worth the wait… and to top it off, that meal was taken off the bill without us even asking. That’s the way to run a business!!!

So, we stopped in for dinner tonight while on vacation here; what a find! Lovely, low key place with great food(had the spinach salad with shrimp and the chicken Marsala) — both were quite nice. The staff and owner/manager/chef was charming and informative. Such a nice evening!

I took my family out for mother’s day dinner. We have been searching for a place that serves Italian food like we used to get in NYC. We found it. THEBESTITALIANRESTAURANT in the CDA area! Boom! After 10 years my search is over! I keep saying it… The best Italian restaurant. The BEST pizza. The best service. The best calamari, the best fettuccini alfredo, I can go on. The food is fresh and cooked to perfection. And the pizza, I’m in love! The staff is great. The girl at the front was so sweet and helpful. The waitresses are fast and accurate. The order was exactly as I wanted. Good selection of wines there too! But I must reiterate, Uva serves up the pizza I used to get in NYC! No kidding. John’s pizza in the village & upper west side. I love everything about Uva’s pizza. Crispy, full of flavor, that mouth watering fresh flavor. And the really exciting part is their sausage. It is the best in this area hands down! Just awesome! 5 Stars. Uva is where we’ll be when we go out. That’s for sure!

My fiancé and I went and talked to Lisa and Steve about a wedding reception dinner. We went back and forth on some various menu items and prices. We should have just left it to Lisa from the start because it was amazing. They had our reception in their side room. All the food came out as people arrived, and tasted amazing. I thought people might have to goto bar for a drink, but Lisa set us up with a waitress just for our room and special event. She cut cake, brought drinks, really took care of everybody. The crew at Uva went above and beyond for our special night. Thanks so much for making it perfect. I will be eating at Uva more often. Great food even better people!!! Thanks for making our reception night special and wonderful!!! Scott Brice

«Leave the Gun-Take the Cannoli!» #UVA Italian certainly does it right. From the moment you walk in the door the classy yet subtle ambiance makes you feel right at home. The friendly staff know you by name-Tina, Teri, Crystal and Molly are so attentive you really just want them to pull up a chair and join you. We chose UVA Italian for our date night tonight and I’m so happy we did. I felt like I was on a «first date» with him the entire night. We listened to The soft subtle tones of «The Post» playing in the background while enjoying each other’s company. The pasta primavera was delicious and the«Pie» my husband order was full of flavor. Their wine selection is outstanding. I enjoyed a delicious glass of their crisp white sparkling brute and hubby enjoyed a hearty stout. Best part hands down was The cannoli… Yummy! Be sure to say hi to owners Lisa Van Zevern and Chef Steve. You’ll enter as guests and leave as Family!

This was our first time visiting this restaurant and I’m sorry to say that it will probably be our last. Very nice and attentive staff but food is lacking flavor and was very bland despite adding salt and parm cheese. Not worth the $ 44 that we paid.

Walking into Uva, I wasn’t sure if they were actually open. We were the only people in the restaurant other than the single server and chef, but it was a cold and rainy day. I understood the bleak seating. I’m usually averse to restaurants that aren’t packed, but we gave it a try. Glad we did — Uva easily has the best pizza crust in town. I wish I had gone with the pizza recommendation like the rest of my table. I ordered Steve’s pasta, which was okay, but not the greatest cream sauce I’ve ever had. Adding the provided red pepper flakes and Parmesan made it better. But the pizza… For our family lunch, my parents ordered the Cowboy Pizza, an interesting-sounding combination of horseradish, steak slices, caramelized onion, and smoked Gouda. Need I say more? It was fantastic. The brother ordered his usual combo of pizza toppings, and was pleasantly surprised by how much he liked it(he is a diehard Fire Pizza fan). It all came with a plate of house-made rosemary and fennel focaccia bread with a balsamic and olive oil dipping plate. I’m not a big fan of fennel, but my parents said they would easily come back just for the bread and a glass of wine. Uva also has a great selection of wines and brews, and seating is spacious and plentiful. This would be a great location for large parties, and the décor is modern and classy, but comfortable. The pizza crust alone gives this place four stars in my book.

I love when you can walk into a new place and feel welcomed. It is something that many businesses strive for, but not all that many succeed. Uva does it wonderfully. We were in CDA for the holiday lights, and we were drawn off Sherman by the amazing smell of garlic wafting from Uva. The interior was chic and inviting, and it was very very clean. It wasn’t very crowded, but much of downtown CDA was a ghost town on a Sunday evening, so it didn’t seem unusual for me. We ended up moving from our booth to the bar because the Sunday Night Football game was on, and the staff was more than accommodating. We had two staff members assist us throughout the night, and both offered wonderful suggestions and conversation. The food was exceptional. I was particularly impressed with the vegetable lasagna. There was a hint of wine in the sauce that really brought out all of the flavors involved in the dish. My spaghetti marinara was basic but pleasing, which is exactly what you want from spaghetti marinara. They have a great wine selection, too, with a variety of choices and price ranges. I tried the recommended pinot noir, and it did not disappoint. Above all, the treatment we received from the staff was note worthy. They were friendly, engaging, and legitimately interested in the customers. Even though we had never been there before, they treated us like regulars. That makes me want to *be* a regular. Many thumbs up for this wonderful little gem.

Our intent was to have dinner at Crafted but the poor customer service and lack of hospitality turned us to call UVA. They said over the phone that our table will be set by the time we arrive. Our server Molly was extremely attentive and really made us feel very taken care of. The food was definitely on the upper level of Italian cuisine. We all had variants of sauces and each was exceptional. The house wine was the perfect touch to a great night. We will be back!

The Uva is a perfectly set Italian restaurant located off the main strip of down town Couer d’ Alene. The ambiance is light and family friendly. The space is well utilized. The music fits the atmosphere appropriately. But what separates the Uva from other Italian restaurants is the food. The chef and owner cooks everything from scratch daily. Because of this Food can be made and adjusted to order. Every dish we tried was exceptional and fresh. For an Air Force family who travels well like ours does this is one of the best restaurants nationwide.

We were warmly greeted when we arrived. The woman who waited on us couldn’t have been any friendlier or more helpful. The food was good and came out in a timely manor. If we lived here we’d come back for sure!

Love the ambience and the food. If you are looking for a romantic date night, or a relaxing lunch this is your spot! Husband and I try to make it in at least a couple times a month. The chicken Marsala is to die for! They also have the best calamari appetizer.

I ate here twice, at their first location, both times on a Friday night and both times, the place was completely empty. I can only assume that they moved downtown, because they thought the problem with the restaurant, was the location, but I can assure you, that was not it. The restaurant on 4th and Appleway, was actually quite pleasing inside. As for the food, the chicken Parmesan that I ordered came with a lackluster, outdated and uninspired side of dry spaghetti and wilted, mushy zucchini and other squash. The chicken itself had good flavor, but was extremely small in size and I am not the type that wants a giant portion, so that tells you something. Both times I ate there, everyone left feeling like we had been ripped off. Being that the proteins on our plates actually did have good flavor, I hope this place makes it, but they need to change some things with their menu. They need to get inspired and step up their game!

Party of four for dinner recently. All of us agreed that the food was delicious and that we would definitely be back! A few of the dishes sampled were the lasagna, caprese salad, bruschetta, and a creamy pasta dish — all fresh and delicious. Service was nice as well.

I Would never go back. Our server was very sweet and delightful but there was a heavy set man in the kitchen who was cursing at her loud enough for us to hear. I do not appreciate hearing those words when I am trying to bring my family out to a nice family dinner. To top it off he was yelling at her about our order, not only was that unprofessional but it made me feel as if we were not welcome. Our food took forever to come out because he was to busy throwing a fit in the kitchen and by the bar. Our food was average and it’s presentation was sloppy. This place won’t be here long if they don’t change the way they do business. Not a place I would recommend to my family or friends.
