Before my most recent visit I could have given Stein Mart 4 out of 5 stars. Stein Mart is always clean and has a variety of clothing and house-ware items at pretty good prices. I can usually either find really cute items at reasonable prices or can’t find anything because the items at the time are for those a bit older. This trip to Stein Mart, I knew exactly what I was going in for since I shopped with the apparrel items online first but wanted to get them in store to make sure I had them in time for Christmas. From the time I walked into the store to the time I got in the short line, it only took me 15mins. They had exactly what I wanted to get for my fiancé and it was even better because it had a SALE sign that was 40% off, SCORE! I then had a Stein Mart coupon for an additional 20% off one sale item! I didn’t wait in line much at all and was flagged down by the next available cashier named Jamie, a name that has now left an everlasting NEGATIVE impression for me on our local Stein Mart. First off, Jamie refused to take my coupon which was valid on the sale item purchase I was making and argued with me about it multiple times! So I let it go and didn’t use the coupon, wasn’t going to be the deciding factor on whether I got the item since I was already getting 40% off. Then when I paid her my purchase amount in exact cash, SHE wasn’t paying attention, turned to me and accused me of shorting her on the dollar amount of my purchase! I calmly explained to her how many of each denomination that I gave her, she proceeded to raise her voice and embarrass and humiliate me in front of MANY Xmas shoppers around and called for the manager. She tells the manager I shorted her money while I’m standing right there, I explain to the manager the denominations of the bills I handed the cashier and the cashier tells her manager I’m lying! They had to stop the whole line, audit the draw to see who was right and her drawer was spot on. So after being humiliated, embarrassed and accused of shorting the cashier, I was 25mins late back to work from my lunch break and was never given an apology from the store manager or the cashier, who’s name was Jamie. Before her accusations, I also had asked for a gift receipt of the items. After it was confirmed that I DID in fact give her the right amount, I asked her again for a gift receipt, which she attempted to do but wasn’t able to so she just gave up, told me she couldn’t give me one now and followed it by, «Is it for someone close to you so if they need to exchange or return it, you can just do it for them?» AREYOUKIDDINGME?!? I WAS a frequent shopper at Stein Mart as well as many people that I know… not any more.

I was dumbfounded, I thought it was jewish market with raw meat, vegetable and cheese here, since the name has the word«mart» in it, which normally suggest a grocery chain, but hold and behold this is actually an unusual and unassuming department store that resembles the upscale product offering of JC Penny and Macy’s(men, women, children, kitchen, gifts, home accessories) however also embodies the discounted prices of TJ Maxx and home goods all year round, where prices are slashed by half or more for some of its item,(not everything, some items are just as expensive as a normal department store). Its definitely an ideal place to shop for personal luxuries but also ideal place to shop for wedding, birthdays, christmas and anniversary gifts. I don’t necessarily like the interior look overall, because its seems cluttered(yet organized) in my opinion, but its definitely a place that spoils me with product options, which is normally the aim of shopping at a department store. From my experience shopping here, I notice Stein mart carries recent fashion trends for women and men as well as home décor, accessories and shoes at a discounted price. The store also carries houseware and décor for every room in the house. They have a huge collection of pillows, comforters, linens, bathroom accessories and décor, kitchen and living room essentials, decorative ascents and so much more. I do find it fascinating how stein mart, creates a complete look of an outfit from top to toe for both men and women, and sells its together or separately on each shelf. It definitely helps me, who sometimes has the lack of effort to style myself, and their prices for a while garment is sometimes under $ 60, which is absolutely affordable. Im a perfume devotee, and this place offers a wide range of perfume collection at discounted price, definitely a heaven for a person like me. To take things into perspective, one of my favorite fragrances 30 ml of Burberry Brit was on sale for $ 44.99 instead of the full price of $ 70 at other retailers. Simply, this is a great moderate to inexpensive shopping addition to the Clovis metropolitan since clovis is lacking a department store within its region, sure there is Target’s and walmart, and off-price retailers such a TJ maxx and ross, but when it comes to a place where I could get a nice attire, unique home decorative and gifts this new department store would serve its purpose to deliver this unusual shopping experience. I also do like how they have a bike parking nearby and vehicle parking is plenty in its private lot. Employees are overall friendly and leaves a patron like me alone, which I appreciate. Lastly worth noting is their shopping cart, surely small and cute and easily maneuvered within the stores small lanes.
