I ate my food pretty fast. Was surprisingly cheap too, for a burger, fries, and slush during happy hour.

Food is decent but this location consistently makes you wait a crazy long time to get your food. The accuracy of the orders isn’t great either.

Haven’t had Sonic food in ages. Stopped today and ordered the classic ultimate chicken sandwich. Fries were cold, onion rings were not tasty and chicken was discovered to be UNDER cooked. I wasn’t going to complain but decided to point out to the«hop». She apologized and her manager came out, apologized, politely gave me a full refund and a $ 5 gift card. Very impressed with professional treatment!

I love the atmosphere of a drive in, but every time I go here I get bad service and have to wait a while for my food. On top of that every time I get a hot dog it taste like it has been on the grill for hours. Will not be returning to this location.

Not very good. The service is terrible always a long wait even once the order is placed. And half the time the milkshakes aren’t even mixed. Not worth the 20 – 30 minute wait.

What’s not to love about Sonic? Love this location because it’s right by my house and while the service can be slow, they have never messed up an order and they’re always friendly. I love the Supersonic breakfast burrito, imho the best breakfast burrito in town — it makes a McD’s burrito look like a pathetic joke. Tots in a burrito? Yes, please! Their Chicago dog is my other favorite. And I am addicted to their cherry limeade! Not a fan of their burgers, though, but that’s just me. The only bummer is that they discontinued my favorite side — cheddar bites. Please bring them back!

Very pricey, long wait(over half an hour) and ended up getting wrong order… wanted a caramel brownie blast… Instead they gave me same as what my husband ordered. Oreo cookie. Won’t be back, DQ better for the money and the long wait

I visit this Sonic regularly and after an experience on December 28th. 2014 at about 9:10 pm I might not ever go there again. I ordered a 12 piece boneless chicken wing and a six inch chili cheese dog for my daughter. While waiting for the wings I observed the following. One of the staff was making a shake. She removed a banana from the cooler and broke a piece off with her bare hands and added it to the shake. First off when handling food to be served directly to a customer health laws require the use of washed hands and protective gloves. She had none. To make matters worse she then started to rub her bare hands in her hair, and continued to prepare the shake. She finished the shake with a cherry again using the unwashed bare hands. I immediately spoke with the night manager about this and emphatically suggest she monitor her employees a little more closely. This was subsequently followed up with a phone call to the store during the day to the day manager who said she was in the middle of her lunch rush and would look into it later. My impression was that she was not the concerns, thanked me and hung up. I have also reported this to the corporate office who provided me a report number after documenting, repeating, and confirming the report.

I was so excited when I knew this Sonic was opening up … I had it in Florida once a few years beforehand and was irrationally happy when I heard it was being built. I’ve been here probably five times, and each passing time I’ve become less impressed. It’s such a mediocre/eh place … and the prices are sort of high for some stupid reason. First of all, their hot dogs — they’re terrible. They’re flavorless and taste like spongy salt. That’s it – kind of like the hot dogs you’d have in high school. The chili is more of the same… SALT. Their shakes and all of that are decent enough, and their burgers and chicken sandwiches are fine and good, but the prices, again, seem higher than what they should be from a fast food place. Also, would it kill you to get some people who can speak English please? Nothing worse than asking for, for example, «A number one with a Dr. Pepper with light ice.» and getting repeated back to you, loudly and static-y, as «UHNUHWUHWIHUHDAHPE-UHLAHAHS???» It’s a place I’ll eat at if I’m not the one paying… almost gave it a two but went up because I like their burgers and chicken a decent bit, despite the prices of both.

We live super close to this Sonic, so it is very convenient. However, I really hate going there. They get our order wrong EVERY time. I get home and there is an entire sandwich missing or made completely wrong. In addition, the food just isn’t very good. Most of the other fast food places are better. Additionally, the wait time is long! The only good thing are the shakes and slushies.

The only place to go cruisin and get a shake on a Saturday night. Roller skate service at this Sonic. 50% off for shakes between 8 and 11pm. I left a generous tip.

I ordered off the everyday value menu. The jr. deluxe burger was okay but kinda smushed and contained lots of shredded lettuce and mayo — two things that I find annoying when in abundance. I thought I’d like the tater tots, but it must have been an off night. They tasted really weird. The boyfriend and I kept eating them, trying to pinpoint the weirdness, until we realized that the tots had a faint vanilla-y taste to them, as if a ton of french toast sticks had been deep fried in the oil first and then the tater tots went into the deep fryer afterwards. Lastly, I tried the jr. candy sundae — vanilla ice cream, your choice of candy topping(I got Reese’s), whipped cream, and a maraschino cherry on top. This wasn’t bad but was half melted when I got it. It was quite tiny, which is good if you’re going for portion control. I probably would have preferred 1.5 to 2 of them though. If you’re going for ice cream at a fast food place, I think that McD’s sundaes are better in size and taste. Maybe I should’ve ordered one of the slushes, but the colors just seemed too alarming.

Finally stopped in and gave it a try. Very limited menu with no vegetarian option and no fish. Interesting drink selection of freezes, shakes and ades. Those were good. One glaring ommission for a car hop place — no drive up garbage cans. No fries just tater tots. Really it was all bland kid food.

Finally stopped in this afternoon to give this place a shot. Admittedly, I was not expecting much, but even my low expectations were not met. Sonic is a drive in, which immediately conjures up images of Eddie’s in Harrison Twp. Strike 1 against Sonic because Eddie’s rules. Strike 2 came when I bit into my Bacon-Cheeseburger Toaster sandwich and it tasted like french toast — WTF? I think their hickory sauce may have maple flavoring, but come on, I wanted my sandwich on Texas toast — I didn’t order a Monte Cristo. Strike 3 was the chili-cheese tots. They were hardly warm when they arrived at my car. The cheese was a gelatinous mess, the onions weren’t fresh at all, and the chili was meh. The jalapenos were fine, but how can you mess up sliced, pickled jalapenos? The one redeeming thing I ordered today and the only reason I’m not giving Sonic 1 star was the Coconut Cream Pie milkshake. By no means was this a delicious shake, but it was passable. Good consistency and flavor, although it did taste somewhat artificial. From the looks of previous reviews, maybe I should go back and give some other menu items a shot. We’ll see how quickly that happens.

Generally, I don’t see a great point in rating a national chain fast food joint like Sonic, but they’re just now appearing in Michigan so a lot of people don’t really know what to expect. They just know those goofy commercials have been playing here for years and the nearest Sonic has historically been in Ohio. Besides, I’m a bit of a fast food connoisseur. Those who have been to a drive-up A&W will feel a familiarity with the layout and experience. You pull into your spot, order, and they bring it out to you. Some Sonics even have employees wear roller skates to better simulate the car-hop experience of retro dining although I can’t say for certain this one does. Still, this leaves you with a bit of a dilemma: you’re expected to sit in your car and eat your food while dancing around the fear that your burger is about to drip mustard on the leather seats. As for food, it’s all okay but really just that. I’d say the burgers are similar to Wendy’s but not as good and some of their«unique» menu options aren’t so unique when you bring them to Michigan. Sure, a coney dog is a rare treat in Florida but up here it’s like«no thanks, I had one yesterday.» The drinks are really the part that shines and they really are as good as you’ve heard. Still, the main selling points of a Sonic are the beverages and the drive-in experience. Not the food itself.

Jimi Hendrix once posed the question«Are you Experienced?» We when it comes to the Sonic Drive-In, for me, the answer was no. So when I saw a building under construction that began to look like a Drive-In, I became curious. When they hang the sign out front, I asked around the office to see if anyone knew what a Sonic was. Seemed everyone except me was experienced even though there are only two other locations in Michigan. I am experienced with other out-of-state establishments such as the wonderful In-N-Out Burger, but Sonic has seemed to have escaped me. In December, as the restaurant seemed near completion, I thought it was insane to open a Drive-in in the coldest part of the year. Who would go? When it did open, in Early January 2009, I was shocked that the place was mobbed. Lines causing traffic problems out on to Groesbeck Hwy. Every day I passed this place after 5:00 pm it was packed. In addition to drive-in stalls served by car hops in parka’s and head gear, they also have a traditional fast-food drive in window and there was constantly a line around the place for both. Popular place… Are all these people experienced, or just the interested newbees like me? So one night I decided to become experienced. I waded through the line, fighting the urge to bolt. Eventually I had my very own car stall to myself. With an extensive menu board facing me. The menu includes typical fast food items, a long list of drinks I’d never heard of(what is a Cherry Limeaide I wondered) and desserts. Yummy looking desserts. Good thing I’m in a stall and didn’t have another car on my bumper as I seek to understand the options. So I had a Super Sonic Burger(double with everything) and an order of Onion Rings. The hand made rings were great. The burger? It was OK, nothing special. To be honest, I’d rather have a Wendy’s double. The Cheery Limeaide was OUTSTANDING. A sparkling taste sensation. Looking at the drink choices, it appears I have some work to do to sample all. I was underwhelmed with the rest of the menu. Coney’s? Perhaps it’s a big draw in other states, but here in Michigan, you drive past a dozen Coney Islands to get to a Sonic. Another Coney we don’t need. Chicken sandwiches and wraps? Meh… Nothing to get me to wait through that line again. I decided to try breakfast on another trip. The Toaster… Sausage, Egg & Cheese on Texas Toast, along with some potato Tots was all very good, but not outstanding. I prefer Tim Horton’s Breakfast Sandwich. So I’ve come to the conclusion that Sonic really isn’t about the food. It’s really about the drinks and the desserts. The food is there to a) give your mouth something to do in between sips and b) allow you to show Mom that you finished your meal before dessert. So this morning 7:00AM and at +9 degrees, I had a Super Sonic Breakfast Burrito with real slices of jalapeño peppers and it was outstanding! Best item on the menu so far. Finally, something I would stop back for. And I topped it off with an Orange Cream Slushe(yum) in spite of the ambient temperature… Just don’t tell my Mom… But wait, I did finish my meal, so I’m good… And to answer Jimi’s question… I can now answer Yes!
