Freshdirect got me. I fell for their seasonal offering of Pumpkin Pie offered through Breezy Hill Orchard. They used all of the right wording, convincing me that I was buying a quality product. Their crusts are rolled by hand, only local ingredients are used, no preservatives, no cornstarch, etc. Unfortunately, what is not contained in their lengthy self-serving description is a mention of taste or size. The size was ridiculous for the price. For $ 8.99, I was expecting a pie, not a tart. I included a quarter in the photo for scaling purposes. Splitting this tiny tart between my girlfriend and me was just comical. Nothing like serving yourself half a pie for a snack! As for the taste, nothing special here, and certainly nothing to justify the inflated price point. Honestly, the much larger pumpkin pie at Gristedes for $ 2.99 is better. Just avoid this seasonal money trap.

I just came back from a wild and lovely very multi-cultural wedding here. My friend rented a bunch of tents and«yurts». This day included Japanese traditions, Macedonian, and a bunch of other things thrown in. The orchard had several structures and you could smell all the wonderful pies, donuts, cookies, etc. baking all day.(You can find these goodies at the Union Square Greenmarket that they founded). Apple and pear trees are throughout the property.
