Awesome if you like kind-of-a-dive-bar, but too clean to be a true punk bar kind of place; which I do. It’s dark, there’s alcohol, and live music in a small venue

A great off the beaten path bar in Clifton. Has a more Brooklyn or Hoboken(think Maxwell’s) type a vibe to it. Good for local bands and DJ’s. Crowds tend to be small — this isn’t a big place; but it’s still a pretty good time depending on the act you’re seeing. A cool place to hang out with a small group of friends too. Pretty good craft beer selection highlighted by Brooklyn Lager on tap. $ 2PBR cans! Can’t go wrong at this place.

The two of us went to see our good friends’ band perform here for the second time. They went on at midnight and were the last band to play and we got there a little before 11:30. I paid the cover for both of us upon admission and almost immediately after I paid, there was no longer a cover charge and I noticed people walking in for free. When I asked the girl in charge of the covers why no-one was paying anymore, she said there wasn’t a cover charge after the second to last band. At that exact moment, the second to last band were actually removing their instruments from the stage. Then she said that there wasn’t a fee starting from the third to last band then changed her story again and said that there wasn’t a charge to see the last band, who were the very people we came to see!!! As a matter of fact, she even asked at entry whom we came to see and we named the last band and she happily took my money for the both of us and then minutes later told us there was no charge to see them!!! Next thing we knew, she turned on me and started yelling about how I’m irritating and annoying her and how I need to get away from her before she throws me out. Then she threatened to call two people over to f*ck me up. The cherry on top was when she said to me, «I’ve dated a**holes like you before and I know just how to deal with a**holes like you». ALLBECAUSE I ASKEDHERWHY I PAID A COVERFORTWOPEOPLEANDTHE5OTHERSTHATWALKEDINAFTERMEDIDN’T PAYANYTHINGATALL!!! Then she told me that the money doesn’t go to her and that I’m trying to steal money from bands. Meanwhile, the only reason I was even there in the first place was to support my friends’ band. If she had nothing to gain then why did she care so much in the first place? She then takes the responsibility off of herself and says I have to speak to Bob who is the bartender and(I think) owner. I said ok, let’s talk to Bob and when he came over, she didn’t allow us to speak at all. Anytime I tried to speak to him about what was going on, she just rudely yelled over us and purposely didn’t let anyone get a word in. She also kept accusing me of «talking sh*t» when all I did was ask one simple, harmless question and she responded with a maelstrom of profanities and name calling. By the way, SHE is the person who greets everyone when they first walk in so just beware not to bother her while she’s ‘working’, which her job duties seem to include sitting in a dark corner alone and drinking while texting and cursing everyone off who asks a question then threatening to have them beat up for asking a question. Eventually we got away from her and got to speak with Bob alone and he was nothing but nice and understanding with us. He even offered us free drinks and we refused his nice offer because we explained to him that we aren’t looking for free things and we weren’t trying to take anything from him. We explained that it wasn’t about the money for the cover anymore, it was about the backlash and hateful comments from his«bouncer». He understood and apologized on her behalf and said she was just having a bad day. He made a few attempts to remedy the situation for us and we really liked him a lot but it’s unfortunate that one of his employees had to ruin the place for us and for himself. In the end, dealing with her left me with a feeling of getting ripped off and then being cursed out and threatened for it. Bob apologized to me and I apologized to him and told him that we just came to support our friends and we’ll be gone in an hour and you’ll never have to see us again. It’s sad that I had to meet a nice person like Bob during such an awful situation and it’s even sadder for me that I won’t get to go see and support my friends’ bands who have begun to play here somewhat regularly. It could’ve been fun but I’ll never go back there again.

If you are looking for great live music Clash Bar is the place to go! Great local and touring bands always coming through! Clash Bar goes above and beyond creating a unique and rock and roll vibe! Their mixed drinks are top notch(TRYTHEMADDADDY!) The owner Bob is a class act and usually behind the bar! He is very knowledgable and attentive no matter how busy it gets! This is by far my favorite bar in the area to not just go see bands play but a great place to meet up with friends and see what horror movies are playing! Tables, booths, bar seating and a great stage surrounded by mirrors! The light show and sound is great too! Best Rock Bar/Venue!

I had a fun time at this place. The bands sounded great and the drinks were okay. This is a good dive bar for people who enjoy punk music.

Place wasn’t bad went here for my first time nothing really good about the drink specials the bartender was really cool tho very dark inside all street parking outside there are two parking lots across the street people were using not so much of a big crowd nice place to see live music though The place had the feel of a strip club in Vegas there were tables and chairs all in the are where the band plays which I liked a lot everything was comfortable not a bad place I would come back here again but I just wish they had better drink specials they also play movies on the tvs by the bar cool lava lamps are set up above the bar and cool little dolls and things to look at The lights they have going during the show are also really cool and trippy I really like them

I love the Clash Bar! Great location to see shows, close to home with a nice set up for bands. The stage area is great and I love how the place is decorated with a punk rock vibe. Would love to see some more metal bands booked here and some more good shows in the future!

If you’re looking for a true dive bar, this is not your place. It has dive bar potential but it’s just too clean and new. Hopefully it will be around for a while and build up the requisite layers of grit and grunge to achieve dive bar status. The bar is VERY easy to get to from Route 46 and is NOT in a sketchy area at all. Went for the first time on a Friday night and had a really great time. Didn’t know any of the bands that were playing but I’m a music lover so I’m happy to support the local music scene. Guy at the door was super friendly as was the bartender. Fast service and great prices. Crowd was mixed, no attitudes. This is a great place to hang out with friends and enjoy the music. I do wish the music playing between bands was louder. It would give the place more of a rock nightclub feel and possibly get people dancing. Carpeting on the dance floor seems a bit odd; hard surface would be better but these are minor complaints. I will definitely be back.

«What? I can’t hear you. I seriously can’t hear you. I SAID I CAN’T HEARYOU!» Maybe I’m just getting old… This may be a dive bar, but a dive bar toilet they do not have. I was shocked how clean the bathroom was not just for a dive bar, but for a bar in general. For all the sweaty folks in the bar last night I was surprisingly not hot, but then again I wasn’t sizzling like bacon on the dance floor. That’s what the dance is called right? One bartender, but you don’t wait long for drinks. The drinks aren’t too strong though, which is good cause this place is confusing to get to and thus leave. There is ample seating, standing room, and a dance floor. I don’t understand the zombie movies playing on the TV, but weird movies seems to be a dive bar thing. Good place to see live music, not necessarily a good band. SNAP.

Great bar to see live music. I played there with my band the ROCKMORE64 last night for the midnight show. The bartender is lovely, sweet, and Bobby the MC/doorman was great. The drinks were great, good prices, the décor was sweet, especially the laser lighting effects. The stage was great, lots of room, good lighting, the P.A. sounded great. There’s plenty of tables, booths, really sweet, intimiate nooks and crannies. Forget what others wrote about«sketchy area of Clifton» and«dive bar» as a negative, its a really nicely appointed bar with a well thought out interior design(again with the exception of the aforementioned pole in front of stage left). This place was great, looking forward to playing my drums there again.

I’ve come here a few times to see my friends’ band play. It’s definitely a dive bar, but I can’t figure out the typical crowd since most of the people who come on band nights are friends of the bands. They have a decent variety of drinks and ample seating, the bathroom is clean, and the décor(lava lamps, a flat screen TV playing some kitschy vampire or zombie movie, and a big round table with stars on it) is memorable. I have one major complaint: Last night, it was hotter in the bar than it was outside, and that’s saying something considering that it’s August. I was extremely uncomfortable. I wasn’t the only one either. Everyone around me was either complaining or sweating. Even the bands mentioned it while on stage. I wonder if the bar owners keep it hot on purpose so that more people will buy drinks. Anyway, it was gross.

Went to see my friends band play there this past friday. SAMEASMYENEMY it was my first time and my friends band playing there. place was cool looking. nice seating area next to stage, bar on the side, clean, drink prices were reasonably priced. sound quality wasn’t that great. sound guy could’ve done a better job. my friends and the other bands were getting some feed back. also the place was hot didn’t feel no air condition on. everyone in the place was sweating. so they need to fix that problem.

I live fairly close to the bar and would agree to say its good crowd. Never seen any bar brawls or craziness outside when I didn’t go in. Inside, the deco is pretty cool. Gore films on the few tv, and drinks are pretty good. Bartender gal is pretty cool too. It gives me the vibe that this bar is trying attract punk rock and roll. It has that dive bar feel but is extremely clean. Nothing like a nyc dive. Definetly worth going. Especially for any bar around here. Lots of space. Drinks are real good. Beer is ice cold. People respect eachother. The gimp was sure a sight. lol

Big time dive bar. Drink prices are alright, live music is fun, but a very odd spot. There is a cover to get in to see the music. I dont think this place is open every day. There is a little bit of seating outside the bar area, but plenty in general. The crowds arent huge. I saw a few bands there, but none had a huge following where the crowd was super excited. Bartender was good and friendly, but nothing special at this place to bring me back. Shady area of Clifton too.

Kind of a dive bar. My friends’ band always plays here. Other than having a column dead center in front of the stage, it has a decent area for shows. I don’t think I’ve ever been in a bar with a rug before. It can get a little dank in there. Good prices for drinks and there’s a parking lot across the street.

On a bitter cold & windy night, I ventured out with a friend for some belated birthday festivities. For a night as frosty as last night, this place had about 20 or so people in it. Great décor. Great Peter Jackson movies playing on the tele. Drinks are reasonably priced. Lots of seating. Bartender was super friendly. Great location, right off of Main Avenue in Clifton, NJ. The band rocked. Would definitely go back here again.
