Food was delicious and wait staff very nice. Would certainly go back. Four stars instead of five because waitress brought a dessert and offered in a manner that suggested it was free but it showed up on bill. I guess a little pushy sales-y but she was very nice otherwise. Again, great food.

The owner sent me a message and offered to send me a gift certificate to make up for their mistake. He says that the woman who wrote in the tip is not the owner and that she does not work there anymore. I declined to accept the gift certificate, but I appreciate that the owner is reaching out and trying to fix problems. I hope he continues to do so even if his business grows big. Some owners don’t even care and do not appreciate customers at all, especially after their business grows. So I am updating my review to 3 stars, which is what I would have given originally if it wasn’t for the rude server. Like I have mentioned in my previous review, their food is OK and their bread is good. I’ll stop by when I get a chance to give it another try, like the owner has asked me to do. I hope I can update the review with more stars then. Please train your employees!

One of the most underrated place around. Pastry and appetizers are certainly on a different level from the other turkish places around. However, what I suggest most is the eggplant with minced meat as it is hard to find it made so delicious in any other place. Moreover; despite the fact that it is humble in space, it is not cramped at all. And that enables a more sincere and intimate service.

This is a case where I wish you could give half stars on Unilocal,in which case, I’d give three and a half. Like everyone else(the waitress asked when we walked in if we had one), we came here with a living social deal. Our service was friendly and attentive and made a good recommendation of the lamb shank. It was a very generous portion(that we couldn’t even finish) served on mashed potatoes. We also got the falafel platter, which came with some tasty hummus. Overall, the vibe is more café-like(sorry to be obvious with it in the title). I think this would be a good place for take-out but not a place for a special occasion or bigger night out.

This restaurant is right around the block from me and my boyfriend and I tried it after seeing a deal on Groupon. We went on a Friday night in the middle of a thunderstorm and were the only people there. They were extremely nice and accommodating, without making us feel awkward because we were the only customers. Its also BYOB which was a lot of fun. We ordered the octopus appetizer, which after a few of the beers i BYOBed, I thought for some reason was going to be calamari(my fault entirely). I was a vegetarian for years and when it came out(grilled tentacles) I was horrified, however, I tried it. It was absolutely delicious and my boyfriend even said he was glad it was like this and not fried like calamari. We also ordered a chicken sandwich and a burger which were both extremely fresh and delicious. The groupon was an incredible deal for such good food, but the prices were good and we would definitely go back without it! Great service, great food and a really cute place. Would definitely recommend!

I have been to many Turkish restaurants and bakeries throughout the tri-state area but have never experienced the saliva induced reaction my taste buds experienced at Café Divan. When I saw all of the wonderful(and new to me) pastries and cookies my pancreas groaned. Chefs Serhat and Muhammet have created a Turkish style coffee house right inCliffside Park. Cheese breads, macarons, brulees and other eye candies are there for the plucking and make room for seconds. A lunch menu also exists and because they have a special relationship with Cinar(authentic Turkish restaurant) 4 doors down, you can pretty much spend the day eating. If you call ahead and ask, they may even make some medyi dolma. Ask for Carla and maybe she will give you a taste of the daily special.
