Detroit Coney Island

Awesome place to get an authentic coney.

As a native Detroiter (close to it anyway) I’ve been craving Detroit Coney Dogs since relocating to Florida nearly 10 years ago. This place is the real deal. My wife and I make the trek to the beach about once a month just to get Coneys and a cold Vernors.
The friendly staff and beach atmosphere are icing on the cake.

The people serving there are so friendly! Most of all, the food is really delicious. Once again, Unilocalers are on point in their reviews! We ordered the hotdogs with the spiced ground beef on top. So delicious, lip smacking good. The walleye special was also to die for, breaded fresh fillet deep fried with the fresh hot fries. Easy on my wallet too.

Currently on vacation with my boyfriend since Tuesday and planning on eating here for a 3^rd time. The food is delicious! I keep coming back to the cheese fries and the Detroit coney. So much flavor, meat, sauce, cheese, and deliciousness! The kitchen doesn’t skimp on any of these, so be prepared to make a mess :-) The service was also top notch. We’re going back today to order the gyro. If we keep hitting up the same spot during our vacation, I know we’re hooked! When you visit on a Tuesday, a majority of menu items are just $ 2. If you’re in Clearwater water, definitely make time to eat here. You won’t regret it! Wish there was something similar in Manhattan.

Being on vacation from Detroit it was nice to get a little piece of home in Clearwater. Small place but quick easy good food. The way thing should be. Coney heavy everything and a Vernors, you can’t go wrong.

What an awesome place. Amazing food, inexpensive beer — $ 2 for a PBR! I tried the loose burger and it was delicious. Wife had the burger and it was awesome. My MIL had the walleye — simply excellent. Fries were fine but the sandwiches are what we will come back for… great experience!

Cool spot! Cozy! We brought 9! They advertise IPA but have none! Good times! They say they paid for 5 stars but I told them let’s make it a reality!

Literally a hole in the wall place to eat. Super cheap and tasty. Service was friendly but didn’t come around a ton (not that she needed to and was literally just steps away from each customer). Presentation could be better but for the price, who cares. Freaking loved the fries. Super crunchy.

I’m from Ypsi (live in Tampa now) and it’s nice to get a Faygo rock n rye and a coney that takes me back home. Thanks guys for the experience and I’ll return every time I visit the beach.

This is now my favorite place to eat in Florida. I’m from the Detroit area, I’ve eaten at every coney dog joint within an hour of downtown. This tops them all. It’s one of the best things from Detroit on a beach in Florida. Great service, great food, great beach, I’m not sure how many more greats I can add. Stop reading this review and get some coney dogs and chili cheese fries. Now.

Oh yeah… Detroit coneys that we have been missing big time… just like back home. Had a vernors float too. So happy we can have a little taste of home.

Best place ever if craving a great coney, Faygo, vernors, or better made, or to feel like you’re back home in the D. Owner is gracious and funny. Best experience I’ve had here in Florida yet. Will be returning.

Came here in the afternoon after it had been raining in the morning. The Coney Island Dog along with the Coney special (added ground beef) were both delicious with the all beef chili, mustard, and onions. The dog had a little pop to it, which was nice. The buns were the only average/​lackluster part of the dog; it tasted and ripped apart like a normal bun I would get at the store.
Although I liked the Coney Island Dogs more, the chili cheese fries were good and tasted great with mustard; however, I wished the fries were crispier and could provide that nice texture contrast between the delicious chili and fries.
Unfortunately, they were out of the Saunders Hot Fudge Ice Cream Puff that I wanted to try. I guess I have to come back to try it or go to their other locations in Largo and Tierre Verde. Both of these are closer to where I normally am. In the future, I will try their other locations and see how they are.
Hopefully, the other locations have the same or better quality along with having the Ice Cream Puff in stock!
Recommend coming here for some nice quick grub, especially if you are in Clearwater Beach. Also, sit on the outside bar seats if you want some ventilation running over you.

Just like you get down at American Coney Island downtown Detroit. Place is clean and friendly staff. Chris will take good care of ya. Place has a great paint job. Take a look at some of the pics.

This little hole in the wall joint is one of the most awesome restaurants I’ve eaten at in the Tampa Bay area. On the site home made pastrami, corned beef, and Coney chili. This family run business is right on point ensuring quality cooked to order menu at honest fair prices in the heart of Clearwater Beach, this is a must stop for hungry beach goers. If the pastrami hamburger is any indication of what the Ruben sandwich is going to be I can only imagine it’s off the chart, and I can’t wait to return and try it.

As a native Detroit girl I was dying to try this spot. It did not disappoint! Hot dogs that snap and chili as good or better than Detroit dogs! The owner was so friendly and personable. Even though they were close to closing time he offered up to get us some coney-​all the way. All of us were super satisfied and enjoyed some Fago POP! And founders beer– so good. Going back to try the hani and Monday night meatloaf that we hear is amaze!

We’ve tried every coney dog joint in Pinellas and haven’t found anything close to the Detroit area coneys that we’ve been missing so much. This restaurant delivers old school coneys and other Michigan favorites (polish platter a la Hamtramck; Sanders hot fudge cream puffs; Faygo, Vernors, gyros) in a super cool urban atmosphere (industrial steel tables, graffiti art) served with love by a great family from the Detroit area.
Coneys were spot-​on (chili, onions, mustard), fries were hot and crispy, Rock n’ Rye rocked, and the hot fudge cream puff was delicious.
CANT WAIT TO GO BACK!!! Thank you for bringing some Detroit Love to Pinellas :)

Honestly surprised I’m only the 4^th review. Let’s just say I brought my slightly hungry boyfriend here for lunch one day and I had half of their very large serving of the polish platter I believe (in my photos) and he not only ate mine but both a regular hot dog and a coney dog!
It was delicious! The only problem anyone is going to have with this place is finding parking but believe me when I say it’s worth it. Try behind the tennis courts.
The food was delicious and I hope to come by some night and get a faygo float. They also had a crumble peanut butter pie that sounded delish!
I’ve been full time local for 3 years this month from up north (parents from Detroit) and my only beef with the beach was no great hotdogs. Five stars, thumbs up and don’t go anywhere unless it’s a bigger location and expanding.
