Prices have gone up to 6.50,still great deal. Only problem, sometimes the movies for adults play at inconvenient times.

I’m reviewing this theater primarily for the historical value as it pertains to Lake County. Although not vintage, the theater was built a couple decades ago by a local philanthropist, Bill Wilder. Bill passed on less than a decade ago, but before he did he sure made his mark in Lake County. Unpretentious in mannerism, speak and dress many thought he arrived to the county broke and only had money after the mines he developed struck gold. Not so. He was raised in San Francisco in an Irish household of means(as a point of proof while many were in food lines during the depression his father was able to take Bill and the rest of his family to Europe) Bill was a successful bay area contractor, with a dream to become a minor. He developed several mercury mines and others in Lake Co, providing many with jobs, and offered a much needed boost to the local economy, creating the need for more and better homes to be built. His biggest(mine) achievement was of course the One Shot Mine Company, and is known throughout the world among the mining community. However many of the locals can’t appreciate how much they owed Bill, because he gave to most anonymously. He was the largest donor to the local fledgling children’s museum CMAS. He was very concerned with the present and future of local kids. What does this have to do with the Clearlake Cinema? you are probably wondering… Well when Bill(which he preferred over ‘Mr. Wilder”) struck it big he surveyed the local kids and asked what they wanted and a modern movie theater and an ice cream shop tied for 1st place and so he built both. When first opened Bill delighted in selling tickets and then was next door at the ice cream counter to serve up ice scream after the show. The ice cream shop is no more(it is now Cecile’s Take & Bake Pizza) and Bill died while in the process of getting permits to expand the theater into a six plex. His last words,(I was told by his widow) was«…but I haven’t finished…» Next time you want to take in the latest movie, or enjoy a vintage one I hope you’ll think of Bill Wilder– the children of Clearlake’s Champion.

All I have to say is…$ 5 for any show any time!!! Newly renovated with stadium seating. Very comfy seats with lots of leg room, you don’t even have to stand up for people to walk by. Glad to have a place for the family to go without breaking the bank. The Movies they play have usually been out for a week or two, but I can wait. Lots of good times. :)

It’s a decent enough theater, especially for the $ 5 ticket price(for any movie, any time). Only a couple screens with a max of 4 movies within any given week. I give it a 3 because it’s very basic, and they are strict on outside food. DROPYOURPRICESIFYOUWANTMETOBUYYOURFOOD!(This is to all theaters though really)

I remember going to many 8th grade dates to the Clearlake Cinema. Plenty of make-out sessions. Now that I am in my 30’s and visit Clearlake frequently, you can’t beat seeing a flick here. The prices are cheap and you don’t have to worry about a line. Beats the Sacramento movies! The phone number has been the same for the last 15 years. 707−994-SHOW. Hilarious. I recommend going to the cinema because there is nothing else to do unless you want to stroll around Wal-Mart or dodge the walking bums.
