Just a great place for vegans and vegetarians! The friend turkey sandwich is the best! Other entrees can be a little small for the price. But atmosphere is nice, parking easy, and service very friendly.

This is probably my and my wife’s favorite restaurant. I love the food here because it is extremely flavorful and not as heavy as most other restaurants’ foods. I order the samosa whenever it is available. Their soups are also generally delicious. The service is friendly, and there is often live music(tonight there was a classical guitarist).

As a non-vegetarian(although I actually eat vegetarian quite often), I don’t think I completely appreciate what Great Sage does. Does that quesadilla really need to have quote-unquote«chicken» and«queso» on it? That almost reminds me of… and is almost as delicious as… a quesadilla with actual chicken and queso on it! Not half bad! «A» for effort. Make me a «crabcake» out of hearts of palm, it almost evokes seafood! Please put coconut shaving«bacon» on my flatbread, because who could possibly eat a flatbread without simulating the delicious taste of bacon? Reading the menu makes me picture vegetarians as heroin addicts, desperate for their fix of meat, and Great Sage as the methadone clinic. As a non-vegetarian, I have a very different view of what a vegetarian restaurant should be, but then again, I may not be the main clientele. I’d like to see restaurants that showcase great vegetables at their best… their true selves, not passable imitations of meat. As a serious example: Try Woodberry Kitchen’s vegetable starters and salads in the spring or summer. The produce quality, the cooking and preservation, the presentation, the flavor combinations are amazingly good. You don’t think«wow, that bears a passing resemblance to chicken and isn’t half bad», you think«what a delicious meal!» Is it just me? Great Sage is certainly a trendy vegetarian restaurant. Maybe that’s because most other vegetarian restaurants I’ve eaten at have impressed me as a) traditional Chinese restaurants, or b) hippie college bars. Great Sage is busy for lunch and dinner, has a good beer selection, and seems to have taken an interior decorator’s advice to heart. It isn’t half bad…

I am a new vegan so finding a vegan resturant is a big deal. The food at The Great Sage was amazing. The staff was friendly and my husband who is not vegan reall enjoyed the food. The resturant is clean and the food come out fast. I got the blueberry pancakes based upon what everyone said on Unilocal and they were fluffy and good. I highly recommended this place to anyone who wants to try a health lifestyle and is not sure where to start.

Another trip to Great Sage and the waitresses were mixing up orders again. Please be careful if you have a life-threatening allergy. If you are gluten-free I would strongly suggest you stick to the handful of menu items that are always gluten-free and avoid asking the kitchen for any modifications. They might take your special plate to the wrong table and serve you gluten. I was less impressed with the food this time. The chai tea had easily a teaspoon of ground baking cinnamon dumped in it and it was gritty and almost undrinkable. There was a nasty sludge of ground spices in the bottom. The Thai Peanut Curry was unremarkable. The carrot cake is still a standout. It was every bit as rich and good as on my first visit. Next time I may skip the rest of the menu and go straight to dessert.

We ordered the buffalo bites and pretzel crusted chicken bites, both good. Then we shared the mac and cheese, hearts of palm crabcake, and Thai peanut curry between three of us. The mac and cheese was our favorite. The crabcake was a pretty good vegan rendition. The curry was ok, but could have used more spices; really more spice could have benefited all the food, but I’m biased in that I like food with tons of flavor. The menu does a pretty good job of outlining what meat substitutes are used in each dish, although the mac and cheese didn’t mention. It’s important if, like me, your gut gets wrenched by certain meat or cheese substitutes. The juice and smoothie menu has lots of offerings. The funky monkey is sweet enough to be a dessert. Service was excellent, with staff being very attentive. The price is a wee bit much for me. I don’t mind shelling out that price for food, but they need to up their game to match the price. For example, at the price they’re asking, they could make their own chicken substitute from scratch in the kitchen rather than use pre-made Gardein chicken sub.

Mmmmm is there ever anything bad to say about the food at this place? The fresh, made-from-scratch dishes are a dream for vegans and meat-lovers alike. Despite the Mother’s Day brunch rush, the service was efficient and food impeccable — although I must admit, my favorite part of today’s meal was the hazelnut iced coffee. While I do prefer to come here for dinner rather than breakfast because the menu is more extensive, it’s always worth the road trip.

Great Sage is at the top of my Local list! Fabulous vegan fare in a non-pretentious setting. YES, the Adult Mac n Cheese is PHENOM(a bit pricey at $ 18, but super nutritious AND I always take at least half home for leftovers), but the absolute GEM of this sweet spot is the Chocolate Molten Lava Cake. O M G. Oooey gooey chocolatey amazingness, and coming from someone who eats more(non-vegan) molten lava cake than I should admit, I know my stuff. Their menu changes seasonally(with a few steady dishes) and they seem to do a Lasagna Special on Tuesday nights. The Cherry Tart is A M A Z I N G right now… but if it stays on the menu, it might give that Molten Lava Cake a run for its money… Extra delight: there is a sweet gal who usually is based at the bar, and she has always been super friendly and attentive.

Feeling obligated to give two stars because of the good service, but I just can’t. Here’s an honest and unbiased review: I came here because of the Unilocal reviews. Ordered what everyone suggested. I ordered A LOT! The mac and cheese was nothing special — chunks of cauliflower in it that throws me off. The artichoke dip was lip-puckering sour. Why so damn sour? The bean burger was okay except for the stale, hard flakes in it — couldn’t identify what it was. Everyone raves about the veggie crab cakes. Does not taste nor have the texture of crab. It’s a bit of stringy, sliminess on top of a ton of arugula. But there’s that old bay seasoning so let’s name it crab cake! Tried two desserts: the carrot cake was decent, but not as good as regular carrot cake. The chocolate cake and coconut ice cream was rich and heavy, but good. Bad heartburn and major diarrhea immediately after getting home. Chugging my Pepto Alkaseltzer cocktail right now.

I hadn’t been here in almost 3 years until my mother took my husband and me here for my birthday. Everything was delicious. The mac & «cheese» is even better than I remember it. The tomato soup was just right with the grilled«cheese» sandwich. The soba noodle salad was a fun flavor. That said, I miss their Georgia Belle mixed drink though. I hope they bring that back sometime. :)

Starting with the positives first. Arriving near to closing, we were still welcomed in and offered a table. Service was fast(but not too fast) and friendly. And for the most part, our food was tasty and freshly prepared. Being our first vegetarian restaurant, we were surprised at how good everything was. The smoked hummus was a hit, when paired with the tangy, sundried tomato tapenade. The huge, flaky Indian Vegetable samosa was a fail, though — stuffed with a curry mush of indistinguishable vegetable flavors, sitting atop of a mountain of stale white rice. I enviously watched my child chow down on his Shepherd’s Pie. Back to my Hummus platter, recognizing the absence of cucumber slices — asked the waitress to bring the forgotten vegetable out. Out from the kitchen, our waitress comes over to me and declared that the restaurant had run out of cucumbers and there were no other vegetables in the entire kitchen, for me to dip into the hummus & tapenade platter. A vegetable restaurant with no vegetables? Shame on you GS, oops — looks like veggies have arrived, 15 minutes later — shards of salted celery.

I AMNOT A VEGAN. With that said, If I had a person who could prepare food as delicious as this, I would be a vegan yesterday. Amazing food, amazing atmosphere. I drove an hour to be here and I will be back soon.

Great Sage will always hold a special place in my heart. My wife and I had our first date here. We didn’t realize it was a date at the time, though we’re pretty sure our waiter knew… Fun anecdotes aside, this has been one of my favorite restaurants for over a decade. They’ve been completely vegan for years. That being said, the food’s so good even omnivores won’t miss the meat! The best dishes, in my opinion, highlight how great vegetables can be(suck it, childhood memories of boiled brussels sprouts!). The faux meat options are okay, though I tend to stick to the different veggie medley dishes. I love the smoked hummus platter — the mix of tapenades, dips, and crudité make it a great starter and the smoked hummus flavor is reminiscent of a smoked turkey leg. Pair it with any of their awesome salads and you’ve got a good meal. The buffalo cauliflower’s a good bet too. They usually have some excellent specials. One of the best meals I ever had(and I mean EVER) was a black garlic pasta with a Thai coconut curry sauce; Great Sage, please tell me you’ll do that again! There’s a beverage for everyone; I love their iced rooibos tea, their juices and smoothies are on point, and they have a pretty extensive wine list. The beer selection could be a bit bigger, but overall, not bad. Save room for dessert! The chocolate lava cake is my favorite.

All vegan! For that you earn 5 stars. There should be cloth napkins at dinner. At $ 17 the burger was overpriced. The side was thinly sliced roasted potatoes that were a greasy Unimaginative and disappointing side dish. The salad was very good as was the buffalo cauliflower.

The more I come here, the more I love it. And this time around, it was even better! The last time I was here, the food was pretty salty. This time around — on point. I came with a couple friends and we decided to order a couple different things to share. We had the mushroom flatbread, buffalo cauliflower, spinach artichoke dip, shepherd’s pie, Thai pumpkin lentil soup, and Thai chicken satay salad. Everything was good. The spinach artichoke dip and mushroom flatbread are hands down my favorite this time around. The buffalo cauliflower wasn’t as good as others I have had, but the sauces are delicious! The service this time was impeccable. Super friendly and accommodating. For dessert, we had the salted caramel pudding, coffee cake and carrot cake. Everything was good. The carrot cake was a little dry and too sweet for my taste, otherwise everything else was good. I love that the menu is seasonal. I just wish they would keep the Thai curry brown rice dish that I love so much! I love the atmosphere, definitely still a favorite of mine.

I’m not vegan, but I must say that I did not miss meat or dairy while I was dining here. Not to mention, the friendly staff! They have tons of options for fresh and organic drinks(coffee, raw juices, smoothies, wine and cocktails) and food. For drinks, I had the green juice(super fresh and actually pretty sweet, thanks to the apple) and my friend had the cacao, banana, almond milk smoothie(she loved it). My friend and I shared the mushroom flat bread– came out as pizza slices, the dough part kept on falling apart, but the fresh sweet potatoes and arugula on it and the sauce on top definitely made it a winner. Portion is pretty big too! For my meal, I had the falafel. At first glance, the falafel didn’t seem fried enough, but it actually didn’t need to be and didn’t fall apart as easily as it looked like it would. It’s served with three types of dipping sauce, veggies and pita– pretty decent! Definitely plan on heading back to try the desserts and wine!

Vegan place with nice ambiance n alcoholic drinks… possibly desserts too but didn’t get to it. Their good was pretty good but a bit pricey. Seating is a bit crowded. They are located in a shopping center with«Nest» a specialty shop and«Roots» a grocery store next door. Had salad, lentil burger, cauliflower crisp.

As a Clarksville native, I can say with confidence that Great Sage is most certainly a gem, and when compared to the underwhelming establishments in the area it is hands down the best choice you can make! There is a mission behind the menu(organic! healthy! vegetarian!), the employees are passionate about said mission, and the restaurant delivers on its promise(read: the food is delicious). I’ve been eating here since I was a derpy high schooler, which is a testament not only to the quality of the food, but also to Great Sage’s ability to please customers of all ages. Great Sage changes up their menu pretty regularly, however the following plates have remained staples and are those that I have continued to order time and time again: — Spinach Artichoke Dip — Thai Red Curry — French Onion Lentil Burger — Adult Mac n’ Cheese If you somehow find yourself in the 21029, or anything in the 210– area, do your body some good and come to Great Sage.

I have mixed feelings about this place. While I love that there is a vegan restaurant in the area that serves approachable food, I don’t love their reliance on commercial faux-meat products(and always find myself being tricked into thinking it might be better this time!). I think the dishes that shine are those that are naturally vegan, rather than those that try to replicate non-vegan dishes — the flatbreads and soups I’ve tried have been good, the breakfast sandwich and faux-sausage«hash,» not so much. One thing I do really enjoy is the ginger-lemon-minty drink on their mocktails menu — I’ve had it both virgin and with vodka in it, and it’s just delicious.
