A little pricey, but the food is good. The steaks, salads, and raw oysters are excellent. Crab cakes are mediocre. Service is pretty good as well. Nice atmosphere.

Went went for Valentine’s dinner on the 13th. It was great as always. We decided to finally try the prime rib. Excellent! Things started off on a fantastic note the moment we stepped through the front door. Hannah, the hostess, called one of the guys over to get our table ready. I had ordered flowers delivered to the restaurant, and they had arrived earlier in the day. Hanna had a note ‘hidden’ on her stand. As soon as she confirmed our arrival, she had the young man discreetly get the flowers onto our table. Once that was done, she took us back to a quiet booth where the flowers had been placed prominently, yet not in the way. It was perfect. Gavin, our server, was on top of things from the start. Even when he was juggling a couple of 6-tops. He was witty and conversant while all the time checking on his other tables and meeting everyone’s needs. Hannah, Gavin and the young man with the curly hair and bright smile are all one of the reasons we keep coming back to GrillMarX in Clarksburg.

We have been to this location before as well as Olney and always enjoyed it. Our server was either disengaged or highly overwhelmed. When she spoke to us we could barely hear her and every request was forgotten or wrong. But for the most part we can overlook it as it’s not like she was rude. The food is where is really hurt. The kona ribeye was served lukewarm for both us. The side was forgotten on my husband’s plate and my side was not how I ordered it. Based on our server we kept it moving. We ended up getting dessert and thats really what was the icing on the cake if you will. My husband got the apple crisp which was watery and barely warm. I got the warm chocolate cake and I’ve had better Little Debbie’s. My theory based on how it’s served most desserts and or plates are frozen right down to the whipped cream which has that layer like it was pre spooned… The cake was dry. It definitely didn’t seem like the desserts were prepared made by them. My opinion is the price didn’t equal what we received.

We came for happy hour after Christmas with a bunch of neighbors and had a pretty nice time. Drinks were the bomb. They had some seriously awesome cocktails and I indulged in my fair share, for sure. Hubby and I also got the pretzel appetizer to split and I really liked that, too. I’m taking off stars for the terrible service. We were sitting at the bar and could have been invisible for all the attention we were getting from the bartender. I actually had to go over to him each time I wanted him to refresh my drink and to place our appetizer order. That’s just unacceptable. Bottom line: The only place I can ever see myself sitting here is at the bar since I don’t eat red meat or pork. Now that I know how bad that service is, I’m in no rush to revisit.

OMG well I guess today was the last time I go to Grillmarx!!! The 2 months ago I found a hair in my steak, today I get what the manager nonchalantly said«Oh this is a mint leaf this cup must have been previously used for a mojito» WHAT no I’m sorry! She actually tried to justify the issue by saying that some dishes don’t always get cleaned in the dishwaher the 1st time around. Who says that!!! We walked out, I couldn’t take the chance on my meal!

Nice neighborhood restaurant. My friend and I stopped for dinner after a movie. We both ordered ribs only to be told they were out. Out of ribs on a Saturday at 6:15. We were shocked and disappointed. I ordered a burger she ordered the warm tomato salad. We both enjoyed our food. In fact my burger was quite tasty and cooked to perfection. In spite of the tasty food I was dismayed to see the kitchen staff handling food without gloves. Staff was slicing bread holding the loaf without gloves. They handled the food in plain view without gloves. This was quite disturbing.

So disappointed, the prime rib was dry and flavorless. The habenero wings weren’t even spicy, and the penne was so watery! Overpriced and just horrible!

Ordered a dozen of the blue point oysters which were alright and decently sized, nothing special. I got the shrimp and grits– the shrimp was very good but the grits were way too salty I could not finish my dish. My dad ordered the ribeye medium rare and it came out pretty well done and also a bit salty. Everything was too pricey for the mediocre quality and the servers were not attentive at all. Although the name of this restaurant has steakhouse and raw bar in it, the steak and oysters would not be something I would order if I were to visit again.

I have always thought very highly of the restaurant until I ordered the brunch Buffet. Food has always been delicious and I’ve never experienced a problem with the service. Love the atmosphere. I Don’t think I will ever order their brunch again not impressed at all. I Was there December 6 with about 12 girlfriends for a Birthday celebration. Most of us got the all you could eat brunch buffet. We were very disappointed. The food was not that hot and If I had wanted oatmeal I would have stayed home and made it. The pastries were not fresh. The display of fruit was nothing special and the scrambled eggs were gross. The only items on the buffet that we thought were delicious and exceptional were the made to order omelets and the beef on the carving station. We were very happy with the service, but thought waiter should have acknowledged the Birthday.

The staff was ok but the food was great. I was able to substitute the fish sandwich for salmon and add avocado as well. The burger came customized and topped of with chipotle aioli. I recommend for a moderately priced meal

We came through here after a chilly afternoon of horseback riding ready to eat a warm meal. The ambiance, dark classic décor and welcoming customer service was exactly what I wanted and appreciated. The menu had a bunch of selections and it took me forever to decide whether I wanted a steak or salmon. So I decided to get the salmon sandwich(not on the menu but thankfully after asking the waitress she said the chef would gladly make it). I also got a fresh haas avocado added on it with a light spread of chipotle mayo and veggie toppings. This is the best salmon sandwich I’ve had! Delicious candlelit dinner and crisp evening to a fulfilling week. Thank you!

I thought this was great. The vegetable for the night was green beans and it was delicious they were probably the best green beans I’ve ever had. I got the rotisserie chicken with french fries and green beans and I was happy. The chicken wasn’t the greatest I’ve ever had but it was still really good. I came with a large group and everyone else got steak(2 got the plain and 2 got the kone) they said it was so delicious and the Kone was really rich and delicious. Overall really happy it’s super close to home… expensive but we knew that before we started. It’s worth it. Really good and loved our server Victoria. Very nice and had a great attitude! They even brought my boyfriends parents a little hot fudge Sunday to celebrate their 29th anniversary.

The wife and I booked a reservation on OpenTable for a Friday night date night at the Clarksburg location at the recommendation from a friend. When we got there the bar was bursting at the seams. It clearly looked like the place to be in Clarsburg on a Friday night. The wife and I were sat in the far end of the dinning room. This seemed to be the corner of the dinning room that was easily forgotten by the wait staff. We had to ask for sets of silverware and napkins because our table wasn’t properly prepped before we were sat. Our waiter seemed overwhelmed and spread out over the restaurant. This always amazes me that restaurants continue to spread their wait staff out rather than give them tables in sections that are close to one another. Seems extremely inefficient and doesn’t seem to set the wait staff up for success with being attentive to their customers. After our meal was delivered I had to request a steak knife because it was not on the table nor was it delivered with the meal. The wife consistently had to ask for a refill of her water. We ordered their Teriyaki Habanero Wings as an appetizer and were hopeful that our dinner would be equally as good if not better We ordered the Kona Ribeye and added a Crab Cake. They absolutely ruin what should be an exceptional cut of beef by using some sort of slightly sweet but super salty marinade on their $ 30 steak that makes you feel like it’s the daily special at a local diner not a premium steak from a place named«GrillMarx». Needless to say, the steak is a far cry from good. In a nutshell, I suspect this place is exceptional for socially charged happy hours but not the place to get a great steak. I would stick to the bar side and avoid the«marinaded premium steaks». Overall, just an average place that I suspect maybe super busy because of their location and lack of competition. Maybe for them, they can afford another few months to try and get it figured out before a competitor arrives. Time will tell…

I had the habenero-mango-teriyaki wings and the half rack baby back ribs. I expected the wings to be spicy, but it was very very mild. It was saucy but the inside of the chicken was not flavorful. The half rack also lacked flavor and it was dry. I wasn’t all that impressed by the«steakhouse/raw bar.» My wife had the kona ribeye. It was very thin, maybe ½ an inch, and it was again lacking in flavor except the fatty pieces. The fat was very salty and overwhelming with soy sauce. The steak was also marinated in pineapple juice for too long because the meat just crumbled in our mouth. The service was weird. After being seated, we sat there for awhile before a server came up, asked us if someone had come to us and then proceeded to take our drink order making it seem like he wasn’t assigned to our table. Later, someone else brings out our drinks but then just walks away. Server #1 comes back later with the 2nd server, introduces himself and server #2 as a trainee and takes our order. Weird. We went bc we had a living social voucher. I don’t see myself going there again.

Had a pretty good experience here. The servers seemed a little confused when first sat, but got it together as the meal went on. Had the crab dip which was excellent! Was a bit surprised how good it actually was. The Kona ribeye was delicious and well prepared, as was the sautéed spinach. Great place in the neighborhood. I definitely would go back.

I came here for lunch. They recently started their lunch service up in here. I came here with a couple of coworkers for a birthday lunch. The service was great, extremely fast;(this could be because there wasn’t a whole lot of folks there). It is pretty far from the business that would generate a lot of lunch crowd. I ordered the Bourbon cream beef tips(not really a lunch dish). It’s a Penne Pasta dish with beef tip in a creamy sauce. It had way too much sauce for that dish, but they do give you a good amount of beef tips. In my opinion, the tips were a bit well done for me; It was still tasty nonetheless. I asked for some bread since I had all that sauce with my entrée. My coworkers got their burger and chicken sandwich, both were pleased with their choices. Again, our server was excellent when we were there for lunch. They don’t have a «lunch» menu, so it was regular prices. I’m assuming they use the same menu for the dinner plates. Price was a little high for lunch, but I did order a dinner type meal. I’d probably try it for dinner again, and see how their steaks are compared to their other dishes.

The hubs just came home from duty, and wanted us to walk over to GX for our anniversary weekend. Our hostess was nice and gave us a nice table… The décor is trendy… but it’s like a sports bar/steakhouse… What chaps my rear is the music. The music sucks, the play non stop 99.5 type songs nonstop… sometimes on repeat, . I don’t like how the music plays… a song comes on it plays for a minute then someone in the restaurant skips it to another lame song… I guess they use Pandora or Spotify. Very lame for an alleged upscale restaurant. I got cream of crab soup and Each spoonful had mouthfuls of lump crab meat. It’s very creamy and thick. However it does need more flavor. for starters it needs some old bay… And maybe more spices. .and dried parsley flakes on my $ 7.00 soup? Really?! although, this restaurant is like a few blocks from my house I and walking distance… it’s very overpriced. $ 3.00 for soft drinks!!! Is water free?! I’m afraid to ask. Our server was Bryon, very nice and attentive… My other server last time was some space cadet. Who was very forgetful… I’m glad she didn’t wait on us, I got prime rib and the hubs got a burger with fries… The prices are such a rip off. I feel nickeled and dimed…$ 1 grilled onions, $ 1 sautéed mushrooms, etc… I’m paying $ 28 for my steak and you can’t add it in for free? No comp appetizers. I would have expect some buns or pumpernickel bread since they are like a steak house. As for their side items most are starchy stuff… $ 5 more if you want to add a nice salad, They need to expand their dessert menu, it’s very lackluster. For being a very high priced restaurant, all you offer is 3 items? Though our meal was ok… average … Definitely not worth the price tag… But my hubs was deployed for a long time but he was craving Grillmarx. The best tip, is Tuesday they have $ 1 oysters.

This review is for their Sunday brunch buffet. The food is fresh and tasty. The prime rib is amazing Smoked salmon is too salty to my taste. Other standard brunch food like bacon, sausages, fried potatoes etc are solid. The chef at the omelette station tries hard to satisfy the guests but he needs to be less nervous. :) Adding a waffle station would be great. Not a huge varieties of food but for $ 18 including coffee and excellent prime rib I think it’s good value. Will go back. :)
