I was left in awe by the knowledge the bar tenders have! We sat at the bar, so we were personally able to experience how each cocktail was hand crafted to its perfection! You will not find your typical off the shelf liquors, but mind you everything is fresh and the cocktails are absolutely delicious! As far as food– We ordered the tuna tacos appetizer and the chocolate brownie. As for the tuna, it was Sunday right before closing and I have to admit the tuna was a bit fishy. Didn’t taste horribly, but not fresh either. As far as the brownie, it was heaven in our mouths. Despite our food experience, we will definitely be back for the drinks and venture out out the menu :)

I went with my wife to this restaurant for some appetizers and happy hour and was very disappointed. Fun people working there and the guys behind the bar were cool. The atmosphere was like a gastro pub in a cool part of the packing house, which compliments Augies, Eureka Burger and A la minute. The appetizers tasted like my kids made them. Do know when you buy a sandwich and it looks like the one you make at home you think, anyone can do this, nothing special. Well, the chicken quesadilla tasted bland and was below average, same with the nachos. The fried zucchini was better but the batter was doughy and sweet making it a zucchini donut. For happy hour they only had two beers on special and my wife said the two mixed drinks she had tons of alcohol and no flavor. That was disappointing knowing the bar had tons of bitters and syrups lined up along with an impressive display of fruit and garnishes. I guess that was all for show. I definitely wanted this place to work and with a little tweeking it can, but for now it is below average.

A friend of mine is moving out of Claremont and we decided to catch up with dinner. We walked over to The Whisper House, which used to be where the Hip Kitty was. It was a Saturday night about 830ish and we had a party of 7. The place was already a bit busy, but we were sat down right away. It reminds me of a restaurant wanting to be «hipster» but just on the edge and they don’t want to topple over. But the décor is trendy. They also have an outside patio which I would like to visit next time. Once it started getting«late night», the lights started to dim and give off the«grown and sexy» vibe. The service and food was good. A little bit on the pricey side. My friend got the bacon wrapped meatloaf, it is a must! I’m not a fan of meatloaf, but this was delectable. I would definitely go back for the meatloaf. Parking isn’t bad, there is a lot of street parking and there’s a big structure right next to it.

Located in DT Claremont where the Hip Kitty used to be. It’s a cute place and has the typical trendy/hipster décor that you see in all«cool places» I’m actually getting rather bored of all trendy places looking the same. Is it just me? Parking can be tough to find on busy weekend nights, but they have an underground structure if there’s no street parking or parking in the above ground structure. The first time I came here I had a bad experience and walked out. They seated us and nobody came to check on us or ask us if we wanted to order for 15 minutes. That kind of service is unacceptable so we left. I will say it was when they first opened so maybe people were still learning but I was not in the mood. Gave it another try a week or so ago. Met some friends on a Friday night and the service was better but nothing to rave about. I had the 502 burger-no cheese, which is supposed to have a jalapeño infused party with chipotle mayo. I did not taste any spice and the quality of the patty was not very good. For $ 12 it was not worth it. I upped for sweet potato fries and those were good. My S.O. got the OG burger-no cheese($ 10), which is their classic burger and again the party was underwhelming. I have to say I think I preferred this burger to the 502 though. It had a better balance of flavor. The atmosphere here is nice. They dim the lights after a certain time(7p or 8p) to set the mood and make it feel more like a night scene. They have a pretty good selection of beer and cocktails.

Pretty decent happy hour but the choices limited. Heck just fill up in drinks and you wouldn’t care. You won’t see double on prices that’s for sure. Most are see $ 10, even the drinks. The braised rib quesadilla is amazing! Will fill you up l even as appetizer. However choices are limited. Entrée wise the portions are huge and more robust. Flavor quite appealing, especially with all the libations. Def great for hang outs and date nights as well as girls night together.

Wanted to check this place out for the cocktails. We came in last Friday night around around 10:30 pm. Loud atmosphere with a mostly younger crowd. We sat at a table and waited about 20 minutes for someone to take our order. Just when we were getting ready to leave, someone finally came to us. My Menage cocktail was quite nice. Lavender and violet. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but I like floral drinks and wines. My friend ordered a stout beer and was pretty pissed that the $ 8 beer came in a tiny, tiny cup. My greek salad was good, but nothing extraordinary. The fries that came with my friend’s veggie burger were good. They could have been crispier(I like super crispy fries), but they tasted like nice fresh cut fries. Probably wouldn’t be back since nothing wowed us and the environment wasn’t too cozy and the service wasn’t great either. But to finish on a good note, their kitchen is open past 11pm!

Can you hear this place calling your name? On a Friday night the Whisper House was calling my name to come and enjoy the food, atmosphere & concoctions. First off the parking structure couldn’t be more conveniently located, as it next to the restaurant. Upon entering I was greeted with an urban industrial décor and thoroughly enjoyed the Plush leather booths. I started off with a signature cocktail called the bourbon daisy! I must say I’ve never been a bourbon fan but this drink had me asking for more. The servers and service were outstanding! Greeted promptly and every question about the menu was met with a knowledgeable response. Our party ordered the ahi sandwich which was scrumptious and the braised short ribs, which I couldn’t stop forking. Only wished that on Fridays they had live music for guests to enjoy. Don’t worry Whisper House I thoroughly enjoyed the night…& thank you for calling my name. You are a great claremont find!

So no five stars but was a nice change of pace that my mom was willing to try(which she can be tricky). It was busy Friday night so no inside seating but no wait on the patio when most other close restaurants had a wait. The weather was ok so patio worked out fine(although the passing train is almost a deal breaker) My wife(who typically eats salads, go figure) and son were able to find something to order. And my mom and sister as well. The drinks look(and taste) amazing I recommend the whisper house, sounds like a weird combination but my mom ordered and I tried it; pretty good. Great appetizer selections but a little limited on meal options. Everything we tried was really good. The décor and vibe is cool but somewhat hipster, typical for downtown Claremont. The wait staff was pretty attentive and helpful. Slightly pricey but seemed worth it. It would be a great patio for apps and cocktails but for a meal I would want to be inside. Overall I liked it and will be back.

I went on a Sunday afternoon during happy hour. We waited about 5 minutes for someone to come seat us. We ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich, 502 burger, and fried mac and cheese. I felt the buffalo chicken sandwich had an overwhelming flavor of buffalo sauce(it might have been too much vinegar in the sauce??). The fried Mac and cheese was delightful, and the 502 burger my boyfriend thought was ok. The service was good, but the food was nothing special.

The Whisper House is a new trendy spot in the packing house of downtown Claremont. My friend Nancy D. really wanted to take me here for their happy hour so we decided to venture here one evening. Happy Hour: Monday– Friday: 4:00 –7:00pm Thursday: 11:00pm-closing Saturday: 11am-4pm Sundays: 2:00 — 4:00pm **excluding holidays and special events OLDFASHIONED($ 7/each) — I love old fashioneds… I have tried this drink all over the place, but this is the first time I wanted it to just be done with already. By the time we got our drinks, I think the ice probably melted because it was so watery it was gross. Did they use a cheaper whiskey on happy hour? ZUCCHINITEMPURA(HH $ 4) — The batter did not stick well to the zucchini and the sauce that came with it did not pair well with this appetizer. I found it to be soggy on the inside and oily on the outside. CHICKENQUESADILLA(HH $ 7) — I would have been happier with the quesadilla from Taco Bell or Dell Taco. This sad sad quesadilla was so dry and not at all flavorful. It came with a small side of salsa, but that was also tasteless. For $ 7 I would have liked some sour cream or guacamole to help with the severe dryness of this dish. The ambiance is the only thing I like about this place. The service was just okay. I definitely do not like the food. If I am in the area, I might try a few other drinks but I think there are better options in downtown Claremont to venture to before that happens.

Nighttime ambiance is intimate due to their unique lighting & fixtures. I recommend the Undercover – rittenhouse rye, fords gin, sweet vermouth, lavender syrup. It looks teeny tiny, but don’t let that fool you.

Came here for happy hour after work for a little r&r. Loved the atmosphere! Literally a 3 minute walk from my job and since I’m off at 4 and Happy Hour starts at 4 it was a win win: D. We tried the Vodka Smash since I seen alot of my fellow Unilocalers rave about and it was DELICIOUS. Had a few other drinks and the bartender was on point with the flavors! I would definitely love to come here again to try there entrees and whatnot. Or even come back for another round of drinks:) for a Friday night it wasn’t too packed but then again we were there for the entire 4 hours of happy hour: P

The drinks and the food are pretty good. The drinks are a little expensive($ 12 – 14 for a cocktail), but I personally think the drinks are good quality. I have been here several times, and unfortunately my latest visit was unpleasant enough to warrant this review. The 2 stars are because of their female bartender and because of how management treated our large group. To begin, it took 45 min for our first round of drinks to be brought out. Lesson learned– we started ordering our drinks from the bar instead. The female bartender had been giving our group grief all night. I first hand heard her complain to the patron sitting NEXTTOME at the bar about our group being a nightmare. I’m sorry we were ordering a lot of drinks and giving you business. I’m sorry the door to the outside kept getting stuck open. Not our group’s fault that your establishment doesn’t have fire doors that automatically close or that you didn’t plan on servicing the outdoor seating area. Otherwise put up a sign to close the door instead of giving everyone attitude and shorting everyone’s drinks. The 2nd complaint is against management’s policy of cutting off certain members of our group. I respect management’s opinion of cutting off patron’s they judge to be too drunk, but I do not respect them punishing an entire large group because of the actions of a few. I informed the manager that I was an event planner for an upcoming conference to the area and I appreciated the information and would not be taking my conference attendees to their establishment for drinks. In any large group there will always be a few who get too drunk. So as an FYI to any large groups considering this establishment, they will not serve other members of your party if even 1 person is considered«too drunk» by management. Stick to smaller groups and your evening should be more enjoyable at this bar.

I recently had an opportunity to visit The Whisper House for the first time and I didn’t leave feeling particularly impressed. Don’t get me wrong, everything was fine, but that’s just it. Nothing, food to drinks to service, stood out as special. I don’t really understand why they keep pushing this idea that they have a «speakeasy» theme because it really doesn’t come across at all except for the vintage cocktail menu. It just feels like any other vaguely hipster gastropub-type place. The food was ok. Our group of four ordered shared appetizers while we perused the menu. The fried mac ‘n cheese was good, but not something that I would specifically seek out again. The tempura fried zucchini had nice flavor but the zucchini was kind of mushy. The biggest problem I had with the food was that it was so contrived and trying too hard to be hipster and everything they offered felt like it was in the same sort of flavor profile family. It made it very difficult to make a decision because everything was so similar, uninspired, and derivative at best. Also, almost everything had bacon on it. I love bacon, but wasn’t adding it to EVERYTHING a trend that DIEDOUT five years ago? I ended up ordering the bacon-wrapped(of course) meatloaf and it pretty much summed up the problems I had with the menu. It was way overthought(both a mushroom gravy and a ketchup glaze?) and the flabby, nasty bacon wrapping was completely ill-conceived and poorly executed. It added no flavor to the meatloaf, which was seasoned nicely on its own, and needed to be peeled off because it was rubbery and inedible. The best thing about the meatloaf was the mushrooms on top, which were delicious, and the nicely prepared side of vegetables and potato purée. Overall, the food was average, at best. Some elements were great and others were terrible. The drinks menu was fairly comprehensive. They seemed to have a nice selection of craft beers and vintage cocktails. Although I was familiar with many of the cocktails, I don’t drink cocktails very often and there were many I hadn’t heard of before or had but wasn’t sure what was in them, and there weren’t any descriptions except for their custom house cocktails. I ended up skipping the cocktails and going for a craft beer because of this. While my friends said that their cocktails were pretty strong, one friends whiskey-based drink seemed to consist primarily of ice cubes and another friend got the tiniest dirty martini that I’ve ever seen(that was served in a small champagne coupe glass, not a martini glass). The service needed desperate improvement. Our waitress was fairly inattentive, disappeared for long stretches of time without checking on us, and missed out on little(and some big) details. For example, she took away our silverware after our appetizers then didn’t bring us new sets with our entrees. She also didn’t stick around long enough after dropping off our food for us tell her we needed some. Not once did she ask us if we needed or wanted anything else. She also seemed unfamiliar with the beers on tap and was unable to answer questions we had about them. We had no offers for dessert or more drinks before she brought us our bill. We ended up walking across the street to The Back Abbey for the additional drinks and dessert we wanted. We were not there for Happy Hour, but the menu looked interesting. I might go back for that but I’m definitely not going back again for dinner.

I’m a sucker for good ahi tuna and came here specifically to try theirs. In the words of Bill Murray from Little Shop of Horrors: THANKYOU!!! THAAAAAANKYOOOUUUU!!! On top of AWESOME food… The service is excellent. Craft beer selection is lovely, and they even have tap takeovers, which are very fun.

Cute spot, pretty trendy and hipster. Had dinner here with a few girlfriends and Ididn’t try any of the drinks. I went with the Grilled Chicken Sandwich, which was really good and thankfully not dry! Kind of a big portion; I only finished half. Came with seriously good fries. Small dessert menu(only 4 items) — we shared the hot fudge brownie, which typically comes with peanut butter cup ice cream(which sounds kind of weird to me honestly), but they were out so we got vanilla. Definitely make room for dessert so you can try this brownie!

5 for ambience 3.5 for food 4 for drink 4 for service I went here with my SO for dinner since we just moved to the area. It is located inside the Packing House right next to the parking lot entrance. We’ve been twice. The first time we just got appetizers and drinks. The fried mac and cheese was my favorite! I loved the thick crunchy exterior and the creamy cheesy middle. It comes with marinara dipping sauce. We also got the fried chicken waffle sliders. You get two large sliders so this can pass as a meal itself. The steak tacos were so-so. The tortillas are too big for the amount of meat they put but the meat was juicy and well seasoned. My SO requested a drink not in the menu and the bartender was very accommodating, which we both appreciated. I myself had the Vodka Smash, which I enjoyed. It was sweet, light, and fruity. The second time around we got burgers. We weren’t too impressed with those. My SO got the 502 burger which is basically a jalapeño burger. It supposed to be spicy but the heat level was mild. I got the OG burger. The meat was juicy and I liked the addition of fried pickles. However the bun it came on was cold and dry. If it was toasted the burger would’ve been great. The waitress said the Ramos Gin Fizz is like an orange cream soda but there was barely any orange taste. It was mostly foam(from the egg whites) and air. I could barely taste any alcohol. If you want something light this drink is for you. We also tried the Smoke drink which is STRONG but good. It says bar only but the waitress was able to order it for us for our table. The thing I like most about this place is the ambience. At night they put out candles on each table and turn down the lights so it’s quite romantic. My SO loves that they play a lot of Frank Sinatra. Service is good. The owner was present the second time we were there and he was very friendly and welcoming. Overall we had a good experience and will be back to try the rest of the menu.

Trendy and industrial-looking, why didn’t I find this before? Oh maybe perhaps because it’s hidden behind Casablanca up front and we always hit up Eureka when we come to Claremont. Beer was good, burgers were ok. The Whisper House was good, but not that good for me to keep coming back– prices and taste can’t be beat at Eureka Burger for sure. These guys just started their rotating taps for beer and have a significant cocktail list, but Eureka is still winning my stomach. The 502 Burger was pretty good with a bit of heat and a ton of meat. The fried onions were onion strings and were very loose small bits of grease. Next time, do yourself a favor and get the fries. Otherwise, we still had a good experience here and I look forward to trying some of their cocktails next time.

I stopped in to The Whisper House for dinner on the day of their Grand Opening. I wasn’t alive during the prohibition and subsequent speakeasy era, but this place is everything I’d imagine that era to be: industrial looking walls with cozy, upscale seating for dinning and drinking, with just enough music and chatter to give it a lively feel. For dinner I ordered the BBQ Bacon Burger with a side of fries. The burger is stacked, bottom to top: lettuce, tomato, burger patty, cheese, bacon, fried onions and BBQ sauce. The flavor profile of the burger was great. There was just enough BBQ sauce to wet the burger and give it flavor and the cheddar cheese was sharp enough to cut through the bacon and BBQ flavor just enough to keep you coming back for more. Then, there were those fried onions that would have been delicious on their own, but thankfully, were cleverly stuffed in between those fluffy hamburger buns to provide an additional salty crispness. My only criticism of the burger is that the burger patty wasn’t as thick as most other«pub burger» places I’ve been to, or that are in the immediate area, and I didn’t enjoy the lettuce on the burger. I think a thicker patty would have given it a more BURGER(meaty) flavor. As for the lettuce, I’m not a fan of shredded iceberg lettuce on a premium type burger. If I’m paying $ 12.00 for a burger, I kind of expect better quality greens(green leaf or romaine at least) and a thick and meaty patty. The french fries were really good. They were lightly salted, not greasy at all and were the right mix of crispy and soft. My only complaint here was that the majority of my fries were small and stubby, and each time I dipped them in ketchup, I got ketchup on my fingers. The current menu doesn’t list the beers available, but they do offer a few beers(and they only serve them on tap/draught…ahem…the best way.) I went with the Liliko’i Kepolo Witbier by Avery Brewing Company. The beer was served in a Belgian ale glass with a nice, thick head; a perfect pour. During my visit they had two Witbiers(the other by Saint Archer); An IPA(Go To IPA by Stone); Two Double IPAs(Yulesmith by Alesmith and Ocularity by Bottle Logic) a Rye Lager(Hoss by Great Divide) and a Russian Imperial Stout(Skol Crusher by the Local Craft Brewery Rok House Brewing in Upland). Overall, not a bad beer selection at all. The wait staff was super friendly. My order was taken by Melissa, who was super friendly and welcoming. As I was dining, the restaurant was going through a shift change, and Kevin was the waiter who brought out my food and drink; he was also super friendly and knowledgeable about the goings on of The Whisper House. Psssssssssst…Kevin«whispered» to me that right now, they’ve got a super hard to find Smoked Stout Beer by Bottle Logic on tap if you ask nicely enough for it. How’s THAT for enhancing the«whisper» and speakeasy type experience eh?. I really loved that.) I ended up taking half my order home with me. Unfortunately, the box they provided me to take it home was too short/small. In order to close the box, I had to completely squish the burger. Not a big deal, but if you’re ordering a fresh burger to go, it could ruin the presentation. I paid $ 21.80 for burger fries and beer(but the beer alone was $ 8.00; pretty standard for a craft beer). Overall, I think this place has a TON of potential. I’ll definitely be back to check this place out with a group and even suggest it for a few of my future business meetings.
