On a recent visit my brother turned me on to this place. It was so good I went back the next day, normally not a good idea as nothing is ever as good the second time around. Looks like there’s an exception to every rule. Why can I say, I’m a sucker for great food and friendly service. Fresh baked bread, house-made jams, and the best French style omelet I have ever had. Light, fluffy, and packed with quality ingredients. The star for me had to be the Northern Woods. Wild rice, bacon, sausage, Italian sausage, onion, American & Swiss cheese topped with hollandaise. Everything fresh and perfectly cooked. Nothing fancy just good honest food. The only problem is I live in CA and can’t frequent this place as often as I would like. If you find yourself in the area(or you live here) check this place out. Highly recommend.

Amazing food, amazing service! Their food is amazing, I recommend the hash browns, potato pancake, Italian sausage, pretty much everything down to the toast. They make their own jam, it’s amazing. The service is fast, they work like a well oiled machine. Our server, Jenny, has taken extremely good care of us many times. We will be back for her, she is very attentive and kind. One of the best diners I have been to. Been here 4 times now and will keep coming back! Only been for breakfast so i can’t comment on their lunch menu. Menu is priced well, servings are perfect portions for the price. Not too much, not too little. They tend to get busy around church time. If you haven’t tried Matthew’s you are missing out! It’s a must try for breakfast!

I grew up in this area and out of every resturant we go to we usually end up saying«We should of just went to Mathews» because it is never a dissapointment. The lumberjack for breakfast is always awesome! But so many geat choices and fabulous coffee

Love the atmosphere. The staff is always on point and friendly. And the food is delicious. I have tried most things on their breakfast menu, never been let down once.

Until today, I’d have given them four stars: they have pretty good food and they can always handle a group of ten people with small children. Today was Mother’s Day and we decided we’d take the whole family(including three mothers) for breakfast. Instead of their usual four-page breakfast menu they had a single page with eight lunch and eight breakfast options. .. not even including pancakes. Their pancakes are one of their best breakfast items. One mother had been looking forward to their wild rice omelette. «Nope, we’re too busy on Mother’s Day to serve our usual menu.» Funny, the last time we were there at 0830 they were much busier. Apparently they had«special» food for the day too instead of just a restricted menu. Two of the mothers had the biscuits and gravy and both came unsplit with just enough gravy to cover – about half as much as there should be. When we walked in, the hostess was incredulous that we hadn’t called for a reservation for ten, either. It looked like she was contemplating making us wait, even though they had enough room for a company of Marines. Another member of our party thought they were just making sure they didn’t give someone else’s table away. In any event, it didn’t make me feel cherished. Usually, I’d describe it as a Perkins if it was actually owned by a local person who ate there regularly. Apparently, whoever he is, he or she eats someplace else on Mother’s Day.

I’ve been here twice for breakfast now and both times it’s been very good. I think I had a ham and cheese omelet the first time and the Country Club omelet the second time. My only complaint is that it would be nice to order off the seniors menu when a HUGE plate of food is going to be too much. Outside of throwing away, not to mention paying for, food that I knew I couldn’t finish, everything tastes homemade and very fresh.

If you go to a place called«_____Family Restaurant» and you expect stratospheric cuisine, then you’re ridiculous. For what it is – which is a down-home diner/Perkins-esque place — it’s great! It’s literally right down the street from our house, so this is an easy stop when we’re feeling lazy and don’t want to cook. They’ve got your basic Americana-diner spread: breakfast, lunch, or dinner served any time. I don’t think I’ve ordered anything that I haven’t enjoyed. Diner food is never over-the-moon amazing, but it’s filling and it satisfies the taste buds. This place does just that. The décor is kitschy but just what you’d expect for a Family Restaurant. If you’re planning to go there on a Sunday morning, I would advise you to reconsider. It’s practically next door to a church, so the wait times are insane by late morning. So if you’re sinners like us, try to go during«church time» to beat the rush. But overall, I like this place! We’ll keep going back as long as it stays open!

Breakfast here is the bomb! I’ve been coming to Matthew’s off and on for approx 10 – 12 years now, and it’s mostly always enjoyable. Food definitely has that rural/suburban complex going, so that’s a plus. As others mentioned, the omelets are delicious and full to the max. My bro always gets them and even claims one of their mainstays(forget the exact name) to be the best he’s ever had. I personally love the french toast(done slightly different here) and the always-crispy bacon. Dinner is good too, and the options are all classic American diner. Interior design is average and seats aren’t too comfortable, but not terrible. I’m taller so I may be biased. Perkins, Denny’s, etc etc are all fine, but I always prefer the independent restaurants, and Matthew’s is a good example of that.

We love Matthew’s because it’s close to home, clean, friendly, and we always get consistently good food. There’s not many non chain places around here so I love it for that reason too.

This is a nice family owned restaurant. Always had good food here, only breakfast though. Lumberjack is awesome, same for eggs Benedict. The monster omelet is ginormous and filling. Very good! Like coming here, good waitstaff. Give it a try. It’s in between a 3&4 star.

Been coming to Matthew’s for breakfasts for years. It’s a suburban neighborhood gem. Great menu choices.(Recently I got the Monster omelet: perfectly cooked, and I wasn’t hungry ’til dinner.) Staff is always helpful and friendly. Interior is spotless and comfortable. A MUCH better option than a Perkins or Denny’s, IMHO.

We go here for breakfast often. Their omelets are good and my husband loves the lumberjack. He likes this place more than I do but I don’t mind going. Their toast is good but I wish they gave more jam. I always ask for extra. Sometimes they give it to me, sometimes they don’t. Why so stingey?

My husband and I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon just 15 minutes before they were supposed to close. We were still seated, and had our food in less than 10 minutes – breakfast for my husband, and a great bacon avocado wrap for me. Simple food, done well, for a reasonable price. The décor leaves something to be desired – the restaurant reminded me of a 1980s Denny’s, and our waitress looked like she had just walked out of the Barbie Dream house. Overall though, good where it counts!

Went around dinner time and had the worst food possible, even the kids would not eat what they ordered. First plate of food came out cold, which was Fettuccine. Would not go back a second time.

Really good breakfast. The monster onlet is huge and delicious. Great waffles or French toast. Good shakes!
