Valenti Salon & Spa

My first cut, and felt a little pricey going in ($ 39 for a men’s cut; sub-​$ 20 barbershops are more my speed). But after experiencing the staff, the shampoo, the cut and the overall vibe, I scheduled my next cut on the spot.

I will not trust anyone but Megan Toft with my hair. She must have a magic wand hidden in her scissors because her skills are amazing! From dying, cut or style she achieved perfection every time. I always leave the salon feeling glamorous. Keep up the great work and excellent customer service.

I had my hair cut here today! It was the best cut I have had in the 2 years since moving to Cincinnati. They included a complimentary hand & arm massage! Definitely going back!

You reach a point in your life when you find yourself reaching for a box of dye or the scissors for a quick self cut and the vision of you from the days you had no other options flood you and you realize, no, you are better than that. That’s when I pick up the phone and get myself an appointment with Ashley W, who makes my so-​so hair looks like it should grace the head of a Hollywood celebrity. How does she know what looks so good when I say, «I don’t know, a little lighter, maybe?» I will never know her secrets, but I will trust her with my hair any day.
I’ve gotten several services here — manicure, wedding hair, massage by Amy — all were simply excellent. Plus, check your facebook on the large computers while you sip that famous Aveda tea and wait for the new beautiful you. Extended hours and saturdays mean you have no excuse… now put down the scissors and pick up the phone.

I have been going to Valenti since they opened in 2004 and Melissa has done my makeup and hair updos for homecoming, prom, and spring formals. She is AMAZING. I cannot find anyone else in the country that is as good as she is! I have tried other salons while living in Houston and Columbus and Melissa is still the best. Thank goodness my parents still live in the area because whenever I come home I have to see Melissa. She always knows exactly what I want my hair to look like, even when I want to change it up a little.
I’ve also had my haircut done by others in the salon if Melissa is unavailable and everyone has been wonderful! They’re all very professional and they have great customer service.
When I go see Melissa, it feels like I am seeing a friend, not just a hair stylist. She and the entire staff at Valenti are awesome! Never had a bad experience with any service.

Admittedly, I was a bit nervous about this place. All of the reviews I’ve found were from months or even years ago, and that’s generally not the best sign… and will normally steer me somewhere else. HOWEVER, I was in an pinch for getting my hair highlighted (I needed it done, YESTERDAY), and the previous salon I tried could not accommodate my last-​minute, high-​maintenance needs.
I called, gave my public service announcement about having thick, long hair and picky needs for someone familiar with blondes. I was scheduled with Melissa. She was AMAZING. I have never had a stylist ask me so many questions about what I wanted, or offer so many suggestions on how to get there.
After deciding to «lift my base» and highlight next time, she literally talked me through every.step. I felt so comfortable with her that I asked her to trim up my layers. (I NEVER let stylists cut my hair. Seriously, I wait to visit my stylist sister in Virginia to have it trimmed– ONCE or TWICE a year.)
I was extremely happy with the entire service, that Melissa spent extra time helping to pinpoint exactly what I wanted, and then that she achieved it, keeping me informed of each step and making sure she was doing exactly what I wanted.
Already scheduled my followup, and would definitely recommend both the salon and (especially) Melissa.

Ok, I have a confession. I am not a natural red head. And like most non-​natural red heads, I need a little help in the hair color department every 4 – 6 weeks. Valenti is the only place I will go to get my hair done because of the amazing quality of service. I have gotten my hair dyed at other salons before and the red is never very vibrant, but at Valenti the red is vibrant and deep. It also seems to last a little bit longer than the normal dye job, which is nice on the wallet.
Valenti is an Aveda salon, so they only use those products. I think this is partially why the hair color is so great. Valenti also offers other services like nails, hair cuts, facials and massages. The salon is clean, reasonably priced and the staff is extremely friendly. They can do things like an eyebrow wax, a mini facial or a polish change while you are getting your hair done, which is convient for the girl on the go. Valenti also has a bank of computers in the area where you get your hair color done, which makes the wait a little more interesting.

I have been coming to this salon for six years… pretty much right after they opened. I needed a new stylist, so I called saying I wanted someone younger and slightly edgy, and I was fortunate to get an appointment with Annie Ey (now Annie Ey-​Porter).
Excuse me while I rave about how much I love her before I tell ya’ll about the actual salon.
I adore Annie… and how many people can say that about their stylists? She’s a brilliant colorist and always hears my ideas and makes suggestions to how my idea can work best for me. And it took us six years, but she finally put the pink streak in my hair I’ve always wanted. The only time I hae ever let anyone else touch my hair is when I lived in Africa for 3 months and my hair was looking a little rough. I guess in business, as they say, the biggest compliment is a referral… my best friend and my mom now see Annie as well as multiple friends of friends who have been referred through me.
Now about the actual salon… the salon is an Aveda salon so expect only those products. They do manicures, pedicures, massages, facials, waxing, the whole gambit. Just like any salon, it can get kind of pricy, but that’s expected in this kind of place.
Probably my favorite feature of Valenti is that you can get a polish change while you’re color is setting. It’s so convenient and a great way to kill the time. It’s all OPI polishes, in case you were wondering. And if you don’t want to get your nails done, they have computers you can play on while your color sets. Pretty awesome either way.
All the massage therapists are great… you really can’t go wrong with any of them.
Some other random important information to know about the salon:
1. They’re closed on Sunday and Monday, so plan accordingly.
2. They have a location in Anderson, and the phone number is for both salons, so BE SURE TO SPECIFY which one you want to go to.
3. Ask for Annie (you won’t regret it!)
