The service is great and the atmosphere but the caesar chicken wrap was not very good. The chicken was dry and chewy.

I’m a first timer here and I knew there food was going to be good from the first time I held the bag. Smelling that good BBQ Burger and tasting it before my taste buds did lol

We tried Sky Galley for first time for lunch on a Tuesday on a friend’s recommendation plus we were in the area. Overall, we were disappointed. Service was slow despite the restaurant being less than half full. Food was mediocre. Prices were a bit on the high side considering the quality of food. The menu sounds much better than the food tastes. By the way, the prices are higher than shown on the Sky Galley website. My wife had the Pulled Pork Sandwich($ 9.00). The pork had good flavor and a generous amount but was overcooked and dry. The bun was much too big, so my wife set it aside. Her only comment on her meal was that the Saratoga chips were good. I had the Meatloaf Sandwich with brown gravy — instead of marinara sauce — and melted provolone($ 9.00). The meatloaf was just ok and the portion was small — and again too much bun, so I set the top aside. I had slaw instead of chips. The slaw was good. The dining section closest to the airfield was much too noisy to carry on a reasonable conversation but the view was nice. Not worth a return trip.

This place was really cool to go to in the summer and sit outside with a glass of wine while watching planes takeoff/land.

You can never go wrong with Sky Galley! It sits right on the Lunken Airfield ramp. So while you enjoy a meal, you can watch the planes and helicopters. One of the choppers we saw land was the Black Hawk. The service is always fast and friendly. The food is great and there are a couple of menu items that only Sky Galley has on their menu. I started with the chicken livers appetizer. They were fried to perfection! Three large pieces of bacon sat on top, accompanied by sauteed onions. The only thing I would suggest is more onions. For my main dish I ordered the garlic wine pasta and it came with a side salad. The pasta had a good amount of broccoli, mushrooms, onions, and peppers in it. My husband got the mushroom Swiss burger. He loved it. For dessert we got the Bonbonerie opera cream cake. There is nothing better than their opera cream cake! It’s good for families and couples.

Going here for years. Especially liked the catfish — one of the few places in town that served it. Had lunch with a group this past Friday and NOCATFISH on the menu! Waiter said they did not have it anymore and he was puzzled as to why they removed it. I am devastated. So, I had the cod– it’s about all you can find these days. It was so-so. Fries were also limp. Not one of their better days.

For this review, I’m referring to the bar, which on most nights has a bigger crowd than the restaurant. If you’re looking for a change of pace, this is it. You walk through the lobby of the old Lunken Airport terminal. It’s a total throwback, including the tiled bathroom wall that I’m fairly sure is original. Look around, because they really don’t make them like this anymore. The bar itself is fairly standard. You will notice that there are some regulars there that know all the staff by name, but it’s not the kind of place where you feel like an outsider if you aren’t part of the«in» crowd. The happy hour drink and food prices are good. If it’s a nice day, the patio will be very, very popular. Sit down, have a drink and reflect on when this was the biggest municipal airfield in the country.(Trivia: According to wikipedia, Sky Galley prepared the first meals served on a commercial airliner.)

We’re regulars here because we like the food and love to watch the planes. But, last night we had a second incident and cannot forgive. In my opinion the regular chief probably wasn’t there, but the food AND the service was bad. A few years ago, I noticed a bottle of Woodstone Creek Vodka behind the bar. I had been wanting to try it, so I ordered a cocktail and specified Woodstone Creek Vodka. The drink was delicious. I went to the bathroom and when I passed the bar, I noticed the Woodstone Creek bottle was still sealed. So, I inquired. The bartender went into a rant about how everyone was asking for samples and she just couldn’t give vodka away. My response was«charge for samples and tell me why I didn’t get my drink the way I ordered it!» The replacement drink was so strong I couldn’t get it down. Overpouring booze doesn’t make up for anything. I never ordered another cocktail, but continued to patronize because I liked the food. Last night we ordered our favorite garlic white wine pasta, which is always glorious. Except for last night. The pasta was overcooked, the broccoli florets were as big as my fist, the garlic was sprinkled over the top in bits instead of infused in the sauce, or rather, what sauce?. .. the shredded parmesan was missing, the mushrooms were rubbery. The sting of garlic was there — the flavor was non-existant. It was downright gummy. The pasta came out before the salad and the chardonnay was warm. I sent the wine back. The second glass was a different chardonnay and it was warm, too. The third glass was colder but, obviously, oxidized. We pushed away from the table, left the food and the wine, and asked for the bill. When we went to the cash register, there was the same bartender that made the lame excuses about the Woodstone Creek and that kind of tore it. When she asked how everything was, we told her. The manager tore up the bill.

Very iconic and interesting restaurant. We enjoy watching the planes land while eating. Recommended getting burgers. Great place to eat after completing the bike trail around the airport.

Great happy hour, cheap drinks and a regular crowd. The bar is small and can be crowded though. Food in the restaurant is solid, nothing too exciting, but decent food. Good view of the runway from the bar and restaurant. Nice patio in the shade for plane gazing as well.

Not a bad place to go while around Lunken Airport. This place reminds me of a country club that people can afford. We sat outside and there were an older generation of people enjoying themselves with cigars and alcohol. It was enjoyable lol. The food was good. The cheese fries were delicious and the sandwiches were ok. I got the pulled pork and not the best I’ve had but still pretty good. We went during Happy Hour and the beers were only maybe $ 3. The staff was nice. If I’m in the area, I will come here again.

Efficient service, nostalgic ambiance of airports past. Quality of food is good. Many choices. Prices a bit higher than expected but overall a place I would come back to.

I worked in the food service industry for 8 years. I let a lot of let things go and like to give restaurants multiple chances before throwing in the towel. I would give this place zero stars if that were an option. I’ve eaten here on four separate occasions and every time the food is mediocre at best and served luke warm. A Whopper seems like a sirloin compared to their burger. I’ve had a caesar wrap, meatloaf, and nachos, all of it only memorable enough to know not to order it again. The last time the service was laughable at best. With so many better restaurants within a 15 minute drive I have no idea how this place stays open.

My copilot and I flew in for lunch, and we were not disappointed. Sure, we like to watch the goings on of a busy airdrome, so dining alfresco yesterday was a real treat. I had the quesadilla with vegetables which was perfectly prepared; it was more than I could eat. My copilot chose the cod sandwich, and he was pleased to report that it more than met his expectations. The service was attentive, and the food was well presented and presented quickly. Obviously we didn’t sample the bar offerings, but those who were seemed aglow. Airport restaurants must have the support of the local community to exist, and the place was still crowded with locals at 1:30PM. we were among the few fly-in customers. We will be back with the wives next time.

A friend of mine had been telling me about half price appetizers on Sundays, and I finally stopped in yesterday. I had the potato rags and they were awesome, and half price which made it even better! Would definitely come in again.

I guess in order to give a review you have to hit at least one star, which I believe gives this place too much credit. The only draw is the airplane schtick. The food is absolutely disgusting. We tried their ‘famous’ chicken wings… And their ‘famous’ cod sandwich… Chicken wings tasted like rubber.(In fact, they may have been rubber judging by the way one must literally yank them off the bone.) As for the fish sandwich, no amount of tarter sauce, salt, or pepper, could give this baby any flavor. Even the french fries were bad. We learned post mortem(i.e. post meal) that their website advertises that all their meat is from Hormel. Ok… Things are beginning to make sense now. We met family there for a birthday celebration. So, to be fair, the company was decent. I do love my family. Beer was cold too. Thank God.

Sky Galley is A-OK. This historic little resto is nestled alongside the Lunken Airport/Museum. Their theme is obviously airplanes. Really cute little mom and pop place with a killer patio where you can overlook the Lunken Airport and watch the planes take off. The gentleman that greeted us was super friendly. At happy hour every appetizer is half off! WIN! And every beer is $ 1 off. We ordered up the mussel app. It was not very good at all and did not taste fresh, but hey for $ 4 it was a good deal. I probably should’ve ordered something else here. Unfortunately that was all we tried so I cannot speak to the other quality of food here. We drank some beers and watched all different shapes and sizes of planes take off and it was a very memorable experience. If you’re like me and like to try off the wall places, this is a must see! Mussels aside, I would totally come back here in a heartbeat.

The biggest selling point for this restaurant is the ability to watch planes take-off from Lunken Airport. If the weather is fine, there’s a good size outdoor eating area, or if not, ask for a seat next to the windows. My little one is too young to be much impressed, but I’ve heard the planes are a hit with older kids. The food is so-so, but reasonably priced. I got fish & chips on a recent visit – the fish seemed pretty fresh and not over-breaded. I didn’t ask, but it seemed like it was an actual piece of fish that was breaded and fried on-site instead of a pre-frozen ‘filet o fish’. The french fries, on the other hand, were rather sad, limp things that definitely seemed from a bag. They have a small draft beer list, which includes mostly the big domestics but at least they carry the Sam Adams seasonal beers. They have a small, basic kids menu(all items $ 4.99), but for some reason, milk isn’t counted as one of the included beverages so was an extra charge. Our server took great care of us and was very considerate of our youngest diner(a toddler) which is always appreciated!

I ate here for the first time on a Tuesday evening around 6pm, with 7 friends. We first had drinks in the bar, and the bartender lady was helpful. Then we were shown to our reserved table by the windows. It wasn’t very busy yet, nor was it when we left at 8pm. We didn’t see any planes close by, as it was getting dark. We had great service from our helpful and friendly waiter Matthew. He took good care of us ladies, filling our drinks and clearing plates, etc. I ordered the Tilapia dinner(I had asparagus with it) and it was a large piece of really good fish. I gave in to temptation and got the Bonbonerie chocolate cake for dessert — also very good. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food and had a good time — we will be back! I found out the the main parking for the restaurant is across the street. There is some metered parking right in front of the Sky Galley /Police building too.
