If you like chicken(grilled or fried), cheeseburgers, salads, wraps, saratoga chips, french fries, ranch dressing, or beer, Silver Spring House is perfect for you. Pros: the food is delicious. Whether you’re getting a salad or a cheeseburger(one of my favorites in the area) or roadhouse skins, you won’t be disappointed. SSH is known for its [fried] chicken, so I also recommend that, but there is a pretty extensive menu, so there are plenty of items to choose from. There is also free popcorn and peanuts, so even if the service is slower(as it can be given how crowded it usually is), there are at least snacks to hold you over. They usually have a pretty decent beer selection, too. Cons: the place is usually pretty crowded — during lunch, happy hour, and evenings — so be prepared to wait, have slower service, and even struggle to find a parking spot. Thankfully there is additional parking at CHCA across the street in the evenings and you can make reservations. I’m a big fan of SSH and really like their food(and especially the ranch dressing). The potentially slower service for big groups and difficulty finding parking are worth the deliciousness.

My favorite resturant. Always get the burger wrap. Great atmosphere. Service is always great. Good place to watch a game. And the remodel looks amazing.

Looking for a place to have an awesome salad? Look no further, this is your place. With like ten different salad options to choose from, the salad options are plentiful. The name sort of gave me the impression that it was place where silver haired people gather, but to my surprise, it’s more of a bar and grill. In fact, they have two bar areas, one of which is brand new, just added a couple of months ago. The location, is in a suburb area of Cincinnati, far from downtown and from where I was staying. My friend, the non Unilocaler that she is, has lived here for several years, and recommended this place. Even though it’s out of the way, I think that it was well worth the drive out. We were there at lunchtime, on a Sunday. The place was packed, so the place is no secret. I have no idea why it’s not rated higher on Unilocal.I guess some of the Cincinnati Unilocalers are rough. My friend said that the servers here are all excellent and that it’s quite difficult to get a job there. I assume that’s because the turnover rate is scarce, that’s just a guess. I can only vouch for our service, which was excellent. They offer free peanuts and popcorn, but it’s on a serve yourself base. I helped myself to the popcorn, at the popcorn machine, but I never spotted the peanuts. After all, I’m having a salad, so it was probably best that I didn’t find the peanuts. The menus were hard plastic, which made them sleek and clean. I have a pet peeve about dirty menus, so this minor feature made an awesome first impression, when I didn’t feel the need to go rewash my hands after ordering. The lunch options/specials were offered every day of the week, not just weekdays. All of the lunch options are $ 11.99 and include a soda or a tea. The unsweetened tea was excellent. I loved that they bring out a mini pitcher of drinks. You would think that it was so the waitress didn’t have to bring as many refills, but our waitress kept even the pitcher topped off. I ordered the fried chicken salad and asked for my tenders to be buffaloed. The pieces of tenders were lightly battered and perfect. The salad was topped with a ton of cheese, so if you’re looking to avoid calories, you may want to ask for less cheese, or your cheese on the side. I ordered the fried chicken salad, so who am I kidding, I didn’t mind the cheddar goodness.

I really want to like this restaurant but they keep making it very hard to want to go back. My husband doesn’t feel the food is worth the price. For me it is the customer service that won’t bring me back. When we called to ask about call ahead seating, they said no call ahead seating but never offered reservations.(I realize the two are not the same, but you couldn’t say, «No we don’t have call ahead seating but we do take reservations.») Upon arriving the restaurant was maybe half-full. We were told we would only have an hour at the table because it was reserved. Since when does a restaurant hold a table(seated 6) for over an hour? When the reservation arrived, we were told we needed to leave and if we wanted top stay they could put us a different table. I(maybe) understand if this was a restaurant at full capacity but there were plenty of tables available and we weren’t sitting at a special table. On top of the customer service, my mashed potatoes were served cold. How disappointing. What I took from this experience, they don’t care about nor want my business. I’ve learned and will take my business elsewhere

Stopped back for a late lunch. The service was great and the chicken was excellent as well. I have always said restaurants detest a «party of one». I understand the stool at the end of the bar when a place is busy. Today the restaurant has more than half it seating available but the hostess walked me all the way back up front where they are reconstructing the main entrance. I had the pleasure of listening to power nail guns, pounding, and slamming lumber when there was many better places to be seated. Came back on December 2nd. This place cannot put good fries on the table. Last time the fries were room temperature. This time they were double fried and so hard some were not edible. The place is almost empty and they seat is where they were drilling to mount TVs.

What’s to say… cincinnati’s original chicken house serves up cold drinks and fair priced«chicken food» in a fast and friendly way. Ohh…and endless supply of hot buttery popcorn. Sit open-air if weather permits

Fantastic! Staff is pleasant, atmosphere is even better. Came here with coworkers for a dinner, many had been before and raved positively. The beer list was simple but adequate, the food was good, not superb(it’s just chicken folks). I highly recommend and when in Cincy, I’ll be back.

Love this place and love the Spring House chicken! It’s the best — moist and just the right flavor from marinade. I love their cole slaw too. The pulled chicken sandwich is delish too. This time I got carry out for a sick friend and also for our house. The server that brought it out checked it with me to make sure the order was right. And it was!

Average at best. Guess I should’ve had the chicken since it received such high marks. Went with a burger instead topped with grilled onions, mushrooms and Swiss. Ordered it medium, came out fully cooked. Bun was dry and even a bit stale. Burger had little flavor and not juicy at all. Got a cup of clam chowder as my side. It was far from being a homemade recipe. More likely a canned soup warmed up because after a while it turned very thin and watery. Probably would’ve had the waitress take everything back if I felt she gave a s$@t. Crossing this place of my list of return visit

I could write ballads for this restaurant and it still wouldn’t encompass how much I love their chicken. My parents call it «The Chicken Joint» I think because that’s what it’s old name was. Their menu has various selections such as the pasta marinara which my dad really likes but I always go for their cajun spring house chicken. Their chicken is so tender and juicy and the cajun seasoning adds a delicious kick to it. When my brother and I were younger we would split the half chicken meal and fight over who gets the last piece. My family also likes their sweet potato fries so at least one person usually gets it as a side dish but I’ve never been a huge fan of sweet potato so it’s a pass for me. Also, they don’t really advertise this but they do have free self-serve popcorn and peanuts. The peanuts are near the host’s stand and the popcorn is on the left side of the restaurant(past the Budweiser double doors of you’re seated on the right side) on the back wall. One downside is that this place gets super busy especially during dinner and weekends but the wait is well worth it. The bigger downside is that now I live out of town so I can’t come here regularly anymore!

I have gone her a lot in the past couple years and always find it satisfying. I’ve only gotten the chicken strips for lunch but they are good. It’s simple but always good. I love that they have popcorn available. It’s a nice appetizer while waiting for my lunch partner(and I don’t feel guilty not waiting for them). The service has always been spot on. Always attentive and my meals have always been right. I haven’t ventured out from my usual meal but why mess with what works?

Just be aware the service is awful. We had to flag down our server three times to order. She got the orders wrong, too. The food is mediocre at best. We ordered a variety of things. Two of the hamburgers came out burned and dried out. They did take them off the bill. There are much better places to spend your money. We won’t be back.

We ate here on a Monday night and it was BUSY! Sat at the patio bar and watched a Reds game while we enjoyed a drink and the«beach bar» atmosphere. This place seems to have grown since the last time we visited, the patio area is huge and really has a great feel. Ordered the Haddock Special and the half BBQ Chicken dinner. Saratoga Chips and Chipotle Slaw, baked sweet potato for the sides. The chicken was so delicious and perfectly cooked: juicy and tender, very flavorful. This is the«house» food item and rightly so. The Haddock was also excellent and was cooked exactly as it should be: not overcooked with a tasty batter coating. The chipotle slaw was tangy, I’d say medium hot, so probably not for Grandma. Love this place, just be prepared to wait if you are a walk-up. Regular dining hours are always packed, even on Monday nights! But there is a reason for the high demand here, it’s really good and really packs some entertainment value into the experience, too.

Even though I hate using this word, I feel it’s the only accurate description for their Chicken… Moist… Moist… Moist. There I said it. Anywho the chicken to die for, the ranch is heaven and the atmosphere is chill. Parking can be a challenge and some of the waitstaff can be standoffish. A must visit.

This restaurant is about a block from my office, and we affectionately call it the«chicken shack.» It’s a great place to grab a quick but sit down lunch, we can usually get back to the office in just about an hour. For $ 8 you can have anything off of their lunch menu + a drink. Their salads are really tasty, and they otherwise have a pretty wide menu. I haven’t had anything disappointing there. Bonus points for the fact that when you get a drink refill they usually bring you back a little pitcher of whatever soft drink or ice tea or whatever you had so you don’t have to keep asking for refills.

I came here last week for happy hour on a Thursday. Thankfully we made a reservation because it was PACKED, even on a Thursday at 7pm. Like, we couldn’t even find a parking spot. The food was just ok… Kind of boring American food. I ordered the black bean chicken salad and my fiancé ordered wings and fries. The portions were very generous for the price, but the food wasn’t memorable. Maybe we should have ordered the chicken instead. We were there with one of my friends who was vegetarian, and there was not much on the menu for him to order. He ended up having to get a pasta dish without meat on it, which was really bland. He didn’t even eat it and ended up eating most of my fiancé’s french fries instead. Too bad they don’t have more veggie options… The service was excellent. They didn’t even let my water go empty. I liked the décor and the free popcorn too, but I wish the food was a little better.

Silver Spring House has become something of an institution in this area. The place always seems to be packed, filling up their large parking lot and some overflow parking at their busiest. The atmosphere is fun, and they have a spacious open air dining area that is especially nice on great weather days. There is free popcorn to enjoy as you peruse the menu and wait for your food to arrive. The menu offers a large variety — salads, burgers, ribs, tacos, burritos, pasta, and more — but they are especially known for their chicken. They also have good Saratoga chips. There is a nice selection on tap — I was especially glad to see Angry Orchard on my last visit. I also get a good laugh out of the fun ways they decorate their sign area for various holidays and seasons. It’s a nice touch, and gives you a bit of an idea of the kind of atmosphere they have. Fun place!

Worst service and mediocre food. The food wasn’t all that great. Typical bar food with a terrible way to present it. All the food looked like it was slapped on the plate. Servers are horrible here. They never pay attention to a thing you ask for. They just stand in the kitchen and talk to each other all night long. You have to always flag someone else down to get a drink. We’re here to eat and enjoy our time. You think servers would want to make some money. I even came in with a big group and we ordered a lot of drinks and food. I surely did NOT tip our server very well. She was lucky she even received a tip from our table. I paid for the entire table and still she was a piece of shit server.

If you didnt know any better, you would think there were no other restaurants within 15 miles of SSH based on how busy they always seem to be. Weekday lunch, week nights, weekends… the bar is always packed. The food is better than average bar food. I’ve had a variety of their entrees and the ribs and fish tacos seem to be the most memorable. Great spot for drinking a few beers(anytime of the week), watching a game, or a meal with family. And don’t forget to grab some popcorn while you are waiting for a table!
