Always seemed cooler and hipper than other stores, maybe from all the high-flying ads I saw during cartoons. Fortunately, my parents preferred the independent(and, alas, departed) Johnny’s Toys and its glorious castle of birthday trinkets. These days, I go in here and everything seems like overhyped junk. Cheap action figures, overly complicated electronics, way too many video games. What happened to the build-your-own play materials? Or the generic nerf weapons that prompt boys to create their own armies and battle scenes(like the basement fortresses we built from the old couch cushions and ping pong tables)? Most of these things seem designed for one kid to play alone. I suppose that’s not KB’s fault, but still, go to King Arthur’s Court and find some toys that actually make your kids play, not just sit and follow orders. /childhood rant
