We attempted to go here on our burger tour based on the cincinnati magazine article«The 40 Best Burgers in the Queen City.» They had no posted closed time on their door and it was 8:45p on a saturday. There were many people in there sitting but a worker ran over and switched to the closed sign as we pulled in. never got to try it… not cool…

They bill this as the last great hamburger joint. I’d say that was true, if the last great hamburger joint is a monster chain found throughout the country, meaning there are lots of last great hamburger joints. However, it is a damn good burger. Neon lights up everything as you walk in, and straight up to the counter. You might get a twinge of disgusting guilt ordering a Fat Burger from a place called Fatburger, but let’s be clear, you knew what you were getting into when you walked in. The burger is slowly cooked after you order, and I mean slowly. This is fast food done slowly and you’re going to be waiting for a bit. But in the end, when that giant, juicy, flavorful delicious burger* comes off the grill and onto your tray — it’s a damn good time to be alive. Also, get steak fries. This is not the best burger place in Cincinnati(read: Terry’s Turfclub), but it is a damn fine one. Enjoy it friend, you’ve earned the fat. *Turkey Burger is an accepitble substitution for a Fat Burger … almost.

Typically I would never find myself in a FatBurger(much less writing a review for one) for a number of reasons. A, it’s a chain and I try to stay local. B, It’s fast food. C, It’s called«FatBurger». Ex-Bengal Willie Anderson talked me into this one however when the other day he mentioned FatBurger had the best veggie burgers in town. See, Willie owns a few FatBurgers, one being in the Oakley area, so we have to give him a little bias on the subject. Being a part time veggie, one of my biggest pet peeves is going into a restaurant, ordering a veggie burger and getting some freezer burnt cardboard Morningstar burger that has been sitting in the back of a deep freeze for 6 months, waiting for someone to order it. Tina’s in downtown has this problem. Willie promised me a large Boca burger, cooked to perfection. The burger itself is a 3.5Oz Boca Burger served atop a typical burger bun and comes standard with Mustard, Criss Cross Pickles, Shredded Lettuce, and Mayo. I skirted the mayo, as I will typically, bud did add cheese. I’m sure that it was frozen before I walked in today, but after about 5 – 7 minutes, it was dropped off at my table ready to go. The sides were overstuffed with lettuce and the burger pattie was very large. It’s a soy burger, so I wasn’t expecting it to be too ‘juicy’ but was quite happy with it’s taste! The mustard was the over bearing flavor however, and if I were to eat here again, I’d skirt this topping. All in all I’d give it 1.5 thumbs up! See the pic I added to this Unilocal review to get a better idea of how big this beast is. As where if I were to run a burger stand and were to offer my veggie friends a burger, I’d probably go with a good homemade black bean burger. My burger would be hand patted, spiced, and more flavorful. But given the situation, I was quite pleased with Big Willies Fat Veggie Burger. One more interesting note, I noticed after ordering that they do have a separate flat top grill that they prepare their veggie burgers on. I’m not a die hard veggie, but I’m sure that if one were to somehow or another wind up in a FB line, they would be happy to know this.

It is a fast food restaurant chain, which in itself would generally prohibit my ever visiting. However, I wanted to rate the place in comparison to other chains and other experiences because — dang it — the world needs a better fast food burger than McD’s and Burger King. The burger was greasy and less than appealing. It was roughly the size of a burger from Steak & Shake and about the same quality. Seriously, I agree with Sean B. Why couldn’t we have gotten an In-N-Out burger in Cincinnati instead? Meh.

Just to try the place out, I ordered the smallest burger available. It was good, but crazy expensive.

I really wanted to like this place because I feel the good fast food burger is disappearing. While it was good, I did not feel satisifed when leaving. The burger was juicy and delicious but I felt it was small. I think I remember seeing it was 1⁄3 lb, but it seemed much smaller to me. I got skinny fries. They reminded me of Burger King, crispy outside empty inside. These missed with me. The price was a dissapointment also. $ 7+ for a burger, fries, and coke. F0r a couple of bucks more I could have gone to ZIps and had a better burger . I might stop again, if I’m in the area and pressed for time, otherwise there are better burgers in the area(Zips, Authurs)

It’s a fast food burger. If McDonald’s is a 1, this place is probably twice as good. But there are so many other much better burger joints in town AND so many other West Coast burger joints that I woulda preferred to move into the Queen City(In-n-Out? The Counter?).

I liked it — it’s no Terry’s but it’s way better than most fast food burgers. I had the turkey burger and it was very very good! the onion rings were good but a bit oily…

this review is from my ongoing cincinnati burger research. I had a bad 1st impression of this place many years ago in San Diego, and upon introspection i decided to give it another go, since it was a new place in town and i promised to give it another chance. I wasn’t let down. This was a solid burger. Burger: 4.5 Seemingly hand-formed, fresh patty. Loosely packed meat, not too dense, nicely seasoned Bun: 3.5 nothing remarkable, other that it was tasty, didnt get soggy, and didnt detract from the overall burger experience Toppings: 3.75 all of my favorites. thinly shredded lettuce, crinkle-cut pickles, tomato(i deducted a quarter of a point because i got an end piece of the sliced tomato and i hate those pieces), cheese(interesting, they put the burger on upside down, i guess for speed). ketchup, mayo. tasty. i was tempted to get bacon, but i resisted. Accoutrements: 4 choice between fat or skinny fries. i got skinny, they were like the cock and bull’s fries, pretty good. i’ll try the fat fries next time. Atmosphere: 3.5 like an old-school diner. the number system seems like it would be easy to get mix-ups. Overall: 3.85 It felt good to be pleasantly surprised by this place. the food was good, it arrived quickly. At $ 8 for the whole meal, it was priced about $ 1 higher than i’d like, but since i dont plan on eating here all the time it’s fine. I was about to start bitching about how small the burger looked when it arrived, but after eating it, it was the perfect size. I plan on going back soon. It was tasty.
