Bar Louie

Well this place is just awful. Went in on Saturday night around 830 for a bite and drinks with friends only to get notified at the door their kitchen was closed! What kitchen closes at 830?! The waiter said they were overwhelmed with orders yet the place was half empty!
Regardless we sat down because we were there mainly for drinks. We got our drinks fine and had good conversation but man was the vibe awful. The staff looked so mad the entire time and were running around like maniacs even with no food orders.
They were even hesitant when we ordered chips and salsa! Which requires no prep at all! They finally gave in and brought them out with barely any chips…
Our waiter said this has happened before and the place just can’t handle big crowds?! I don’t know who runs this place but it’s an embarrassing franchise establishment. It’s unfortunate because I have been to other bar Louie’s before and they have been great! This one just opened last summer and it should be shut down with how many bad reviews it has. Make room for another restaurant that can handle it!

Went for food, not the bar. First mistake. Food was mediocre. Not sure if it was just this location but probably won’t go to another to find out.

I attempted to eat at Bar Louie tonight, only to be informed at the door that there is a 2 hour wait for food. I don’t know what kind of poorly run establishment has open tables on a Saturday night, yet a 2 hour wait for food. I was very surprised. I do not plan on returning

I had never been to this franchised restaurant before, but was quite impressed. We live in the area and looked quaint. I went on a Weds. At 5. $ 1 burgers and happy hour from 5−8pm. You can sit where you want and the waitress came within 5 minutes with water. I was waiting on my fiancé, so I ordered a martini drink that was out of this world, filled to the brim. Shrimp lettuce wraps for an app. Mm good. We ordered burgers and fries. Burgers were good, fries warm, not hot. Took only about 20 minutes. Place was packed, so impressed again. The only problem was our waitress was waiting on tables on other side of room so took a while for check, maybe since we had free app. Apparently, this was not her row since a waiter said not sure how we got in his section. We sat by the Windows by parking lot and he claimed we were in his section, not sure why she was waiting on us. Sounds like they need to work that out and not get customers involved in what waiters/​waitresses have certain tables. Other than that, great nite and left a huge tip on the bill that ended up only being less than $ 30 with all that food and 3 martinis total. Great deal!

The was a disappointing experience for me. Went on a Sunday afternoon with a friend. The place was dead but the service and food were awful. I’d hate to think what this place is like if it’s busy. Unless you’re a huge Bar Louis fan there are tons of other great places to eat in Cincinnati that give you a better service and quality so I’d skip it.

I rarely write 1-​star reviews, but my experience at Bar Louie last night was SO BAD. I’ve been to Bar Louie’s before and never had a problem, but this particular location is a disaster. Service and food are both terrible. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
We wanted a quick dinner before grocery shopping, so we stopped in here on Tuesday around 6:45pm, right before the end of happy hour. The place was only half full, and we were told to sit wherever we wanted. Our waitress, who was very friendly, stopped by immediately to get our appetizer and drink order. During happy hour, draft beers are $ 3.25 and most appetizers are half-​off, so we got a few craft beers, boneless wings, and the spinach artichoke dip. We also ordered a salad entrée to split.
Our beers came out in 5 minutes, and then nothing… For 30 minutes. We waited… And waited… And waited…
Finally I stopped our waitress to ask about our appetizers, and she said the kitchen was super backed up because of a large party (looked like 40 people). I felt bad for her because it’s not her fault, but the kitchen needs to get their sh*t together. Yeah, you had one super large group, but the other half of the restaurant was basically empty. Stagger their food if you have to, but you can’t just stop sending out food. Also, maybe if you took reservations you wouldn’t have large parties surprising you on a Tuesday.
The couple to the left of us left without their food, the businessmen to the right were pissed they couldn’t get someone to bring them their check, the 20-​somethings behind us that came in before us got their food after us… Overall, it was a cluster.
40 minutes after we ordered, we got our appetizers… The wings were dry and cold, while the celery and carrots served with them were warm (how is that possible? was it just seating under the heat lamp for the entire 40 minutes??). The spinach artichoke dip was laughably bad. We took two bites, and left the rest because it was so bland and disgusting. I tried pouring salt and pepper all over it, but it was beyond saving.
I asked our waitress to cancel our salad and just bring our check. She apologized, but at that point we just wanted to leave. We paid our $ 20 and left, and now I want to go back and demand my $ 20 back because our experience was so bad. The only things we enjoyed were those two beers.

Great drink prices! My blackened fish tacos were DIY so that was a little weird. My boyfriend got this really tasty flatbread pizza.

Louie Louie, oh oh, You got to go! This brand new building looks great and is located in the up and coming oakley square. The food is about average to be honest. It is good and you will enjoy a dinner there but I wont say it is going to change your life. They do offer a great beer selection and lots of TV’s for the sports fan. I look at this place as a good night out with friends for drinks and a light meal. The summer time they have garage style doors that will open it up for a great summer vibe.

I had a great experience with both food and service last night during the Bengal’s game!
Place was pretty packed and we had a table of ten so I figured everything would be slow. Pleasantly surprised that drinks and food came out quick and our waiter (Ben) was constantly checking on us. We were never waiting on drinks. Food came out hot and tasty.
It’s nice the tables aren’t right on top of each other, roomy location. Was a good environment to watch the game but they could use more tvs on the outer walls.

After visiting this location for a happy hour we decided to have a birthday dinner for my husband’s 30^th birthday. The service was exceptional! We had a rather large party, close to 50 people. Some of our party trickled in at different times the servers were on point! They manage to keep all the orders straight and all the bills accurate. I would absolutely recommend Bar Louie Oakley to anybody and any size party!

I previously rated this place pretty average based on my first visit. The first time, we were there at off peak hours and had a pretty painless experience.
This was not the case last night. The place was pretty busy for the Bengals game; as it should be. Service really suffered with the crowd. They were not on their game and clearly can’t handle a decent sized crowd.
I was there for drinks and to watch the game with some friends. 2 people at our table ordered food. It took over an hour! Sometimes we would have to remind our waitress when she finally comes back around that she forgot our drinks. One time it took 30 min to get a draft beer.
This place needs new management and training.

$ 1 burger night was not a good thing… you can only get them medium — medium/​well. I took two bites. Total waste!
My server was awesome and I only wish I could remember her name! I’ll be going back so I can find out!
It’s a nice place for happy hour and I really think it’s gonna take off with that location!

I hate to give a bad review because I’ve worked in restaurants on bad nights– but it seems like this place has a lot of bad nights, based upon the other reviews.
In fairness, the staff was courteous when they were around. They were just too understaffed to handle the crowd.
We couldn’t get draft beer because the kegs weren’t cold or something. The kitchen was backed up like crazy because apparently one person called out sick (just one!). Honestly, I think most of the blame lies with the management at this point. Hopefully this place gets better. It’s a really good location and it would be fun to get a beer and watch sports after seeing a movie.

We ended up here yesterday after a movie. We should have driven somewhere else. Our waitress eventually greeted us with, «good morning».it was 3p, when we pointed that out, she says, «I hate mornings, so whenever I’m working, it’s like a morning»…sounds like she needs a new career. We waited forever for beers to come each and every time. At one point, we were served beers in glassware that had just come out of the dishwasher, so the beer was actually hot. They didn’t really correct this when pointed out, just explained it. The food was actually pretty good, and our table of 6 sampled quite a few things. By the time the Bengals game came on, the place was full, which certainly didn’t help our server’s slowness. All in all, I may go back on a quiet weeknight (perhaps for $ 1 burger night), but I’m not in a big hurry to do so. There are lots of other choices.

This is the worst Bar Louie I have ever been to. The food was terrible, the service was the worst part. I had to ask multiple times for my draft beer and there is no one here! It took forever and the server was always missing. I will never return here.

This place has a great atmosphere and good food. I met couple of friends for a late dinner here before going to the movies. Loved the décor, plus they were having a «End of Prohibition» event and all the servers were dressed in ’30’s era clothes, which was kind of cool. The service was pretty good too, as each of us arrived we were quickly greeted by our server who had drinks in our hands in no time.
I had the BBQ burger and it was very good. Also tried the tater tots — because how can you pass up tater tots?! They were excellent! Beer selection was good too.
This is great place to meet your friends — whether you’re going to see a movie, or looking for a place to regroup after work.

So I will begin with stating that this review is based on my experience as Bar Louie as a restaurant and not a bar. It is seat yourself, which can be good or bad. We had a party of 8 gals and they didn’t take reservations. A few of us ended up going early to snag a table while everyone else filtered in.
The waiter was friendly. It was weird, he sat down at the table with my friend and I asking what drinks we wanted before my other friends showed up. The weird part was him sitting down at the actual table to take our order, however I did appreciate him asking for our drinks early. Then they had a free app deal if you texted some code. My friend showed him that then the app showed up on her bill. Now to the app, the «Chicken Nachos» consisted of a spoonful of black beans, guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo, a few pieces of chicken, and like two slices of jalepeno. I couldn’t for the life of me find any queso or even cheese on it. It was the saddest plate of nachos I’ve ever seen. I mean, how do you screw up nachos?
I got the chicken lettuce wraps and it was so sad and boring. It was like a soup of chicken and frozen vegetables with some Asian sauce. Luckily I wasn’t expecting anything after the nachos. They also have all of our entrees to us at very different times like it took at least 15 minutes for us all to get our meals and when we asked they just said «yeah we are busy back there, we’ll try and get the rest of the food out». I mean no… That is not the proper response. Not to mention the place wasn’t that full and the people who were there were mainly there for the bar and drinks (should have done that). They brought my friend the wrong flatbread, which I tasted and it was very sad as well. Like a big cracker with some cheese and a few pieces of chicken. Literally their menu is just not great at all, or maybe their execution is terrible. It definitely seems like whoever is making the food does not really seem to care about it. Luckily the prices aren’t horrific, but either way I wasn’t happy I spent money there on food.
Overall I did not expect anything from this place so when I was disappointed with the food it wasn’t a shock. I think the food is very sad and boring. I would rather make a dinner at home then come back and spend money on food at this place. The service was weird and not professional at all. Maybe I would come back purely for drinks since they do have some decent happy hour deals. Although I probably would eat dinner elsewhere beforehand…

Came here for a friends going away party. Our server was MIA for most of the night, leading us to have to get our own beverages from the bar. She completely forgot one of the order, they never brought out the appetizers, put bacon on a vegetarians salad, and my burger was charred on the outside (ordered medium). Definitely will not be coming back to this location.

Our (my husband and I) first visit to this place and I just wanna say not a very pleasant one. The lady at the bar was good at helping us with the drinks, but it took us forever to get the appetizers ! A hour of waiting to be precise. Being a new establishment, I guess they are still finding their grooves; but this is still not an excuse. We ordered the wings and to be honest, not a happy tummy the day after. They do have some catching up to do.

Been twice and has taken 1.5 hrs to receive the food. Good came out cold and one of the burgers burnt. Not one refill offered and one drink was never brought out. They apologized several times and stated that they were so busy but, many tables were empty, as was the bar. Very disappointing yet again.
