My husband Ryan and I moved to Westwood two years ago and live very close to the Cheviot Cappel’s. Driving by the store sometimes several times a week, I’ve always been curious about what’s inside. Twice in the last two weeks we have visited the store and have tried on several costumes. The variety of costumes and accessories at this location is impressive and the prices are competitive with other large chain stores. Both visits into the store were very pleasant experiences. The workers there are helpful, friendly, and patient, even when packing up a stack of tried-on costumes. Donna and Julie helped us and are fantastic people to be representing Cappel’s. They provided exemplary customer service, and that’s important to us! And when we called to give the positive feedback to the Cappel’s office, we were connected directly with one of the owners himself(a very nice man). No big chain store can beat that. We are absolutely thrilled with our new costumes, will tell others of our fun shopping experience there, and will definitely be returning to this Cappel’s location in the future to make our costume and party supply purchases. Happy to have a great local store like this(a real treasure) so close to home!

I’ve found at times that this location is superior to the downtown location as the hours tend to work a bit better for those of us who work in the day. This is a great place to pick up a costume or an accessory. I would avoid the full on costumes. They tend to be kind of cheap. Meaning they will probably fall apart the first night you wear them, so don’t expect to get multiple uses out of many of the things you buy. Instead stick with accessories such as Mardi-Gras or Masquerade masks, Fedoras and hats, etc. This seems to be a great place for that sort of thing. Careful though, things can get pricey pretty quick, so use this place wisely.

A trip to Cappels was a Halloween staple in my house growing up. This was the place to go for your Halloween costume! Over the years, they have expanded and moved to a couple of different place throughout Cheviot. Cappel’s is unfortunately having the problem of growing competition from chain stores. They just can’t offer the selection that the mega-store does. During Halloween season, they are packed to the gills and it can be hard to get service. In the past several years, I have gone elsewhere for my costumes. Recently, we were looking for costumes for a Catholic Pirate Ninja Mardi Gras Bash(yes, I know. Totally random theme!) We went there looking for some gear and generally walked out empty handed. Their costume stock is very low during the off seasons. Now, here is where I do love Cappel’s. They have a great selection of themed party supplies! Bachelor party, casino night, little girl’s princess party… they have cups, plates, and decorations for it all. And, prices are reasonable. They have a huge variety of balloons that they will put helium in as well. Also, around certain the different holidays, they have a great stock of accessories dedicated to that holiday. When we were there recently, they had an insane number of Mardi Gras themed masks and hats. A couple aisles down there was a ton of gear to get ready for St. Patrick’s Day. I love supporting a local business and will go to Cappel’s at every opportunity that I feel I will find what I need.

During the off holidays, their stock of costumes and other general items seems to be lacking. The workers will try to help you find things, which is great. Right now they are well stocked for Mardi Gras and St. Patrick’s day of course. All sales are final. Their parking lot is on the backside of the building one block over from their Harrison entrance. I am thankful for what they have and that they are open until 8PM for those last minute costume needs.
