I had the kale and pomegranate salad and a Jessica Wabbit. It’s nice to see a place offer refreshing mocktails(no booze) so you can enjoy something with a little flavor that isn’t soda pop but not have to play the moral game of, «is it OK to drink at lunch?» The salad was great and a very generous portion. I would highly recommend this spot to any business traveler passing through the area. It’s a great break from basic chains and Whiskey Cake has a lot of personality. That came through with my server Olivia who really seemed like she loved her job. She was very engaging with all the nearby tables that I could see. If you are interested in booze(surprise!) they have a lot of whiskey. Maybe next time I’ll try stopping by in the evening.

I went there on Monday night as I thought it would be quiet. It was, the food came out quickly and the service was OK, I had to chase the waitress down twice as she either could not hear me or was in a world of her own. The same when I had to ask for the bill after sitting there for 15 minuets. The gentlemen serving tables around me seemed very invested in his job, he was sharing opinions and seemed very attentive unlike our own that said very little and was more interested in talking with the other servers at their station. I can see the aim is to have attractive wait staff dressed as members of Mumford and sons road crew but I would rather they invested the effort in passionate staff. The food was not great, it was all a little over oily. I tried a few things and all the same. Im not basing that one item, it was all that way. I have heard so many good things but the reality for me was disappointing. The whole experience was style of substance and I can not see me returning or recommending. How ever nice my beer was, its the beer and I can get that anywhere for half the price. It was very noisy for having so few customers.

The service and cocktails are great, but the food is awful. Menu hasn’t changed in years and the appetizers are all really oily and/or greasy. Not returning.

I honestly don’t get the hype. I like Whiskey Cake, but it’s not gods gift to the earth or anything. When I first came for brunch I got the farmers breakfast, which was fine, but not as amazing as I would expect from such a small brunch menu. If you only have 6 things, they better all be amazing! The second time I had the pork, egg and grits which was pretty damn good. The grits were great and the pork had amazing flavor. Not that I should be complaining, but the portions were huge for brunch. I took half of it home and ate it as another full meal. Also the apple/onion tomatillo sauce pile on the side was unnecessary and didn’t fit the flavor profile of the dish. I’ve gotten poinsettias both times which were fine, I’ve had worse and better drinks. The whiskey cake it’s self is amazing, I’ll admit that. Unfortunately the last time I went the computers were down so it took 30 – 45 minutes from the time my group finished our meals to be able to pay and leave. There wasn’t great communication from our waiter or any attempt to make it up to us. He just disappeared for that time. So I may come back if I’m with people who want to, probably won’t choose it for myself though.

Came here for a business dinner on a trip last month and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of food! Had the goat cheese fondue along with tasting a wide sampling of appetizers. Good selection of local and broader beers too! A few recommendations below: –Fried green tomatoes were great! –Duck wings were slathered in so much sauce it was hard to tell they were duck — tasty but could have been better –Goat cheese fondue was very tasty and well served with grilled bread to dip The whiskey cake dessert deserves its own section as it was very, very tasty. Perfect combo of rich and moist cake, especially when we dumped the pistachio ice cream next to it(and paired in each bite)!

This place is a nice change of pace. The menu options are quite different than most places. We started with the fried green tomatoes and loved those. The best I have ever had were in Savannah, Georgia. While these don’t compare to those, they were still pretty darn good(loved the sauce!). I had the Benedict. I liked it okay but probably wouldn’t order it again. I didn’t care for the pulled pork and egg combo. They were both great eaten separately, but the two together just weren’t my thing. Evan had the Farmer’s Breakfast and was pretty impressed. We then had the namesake Whiskey Cake for dessert. It was amazing! The thing I liked best about this place is that everything is made fresh and from scratch! What’s more, I loved the décor! It’s clean and the service is great.

I figured that this place is worth checking out for brunch since everyone raves about it. Maybe it was just a depressing rainy day but I hated the atmosphere inside. It was dark and dreary, not at all like a brunch place should be. I felt like it was 9pm instead of 11am. Very little sun and kind of more of an evening joint. Everything had that crafted, hipster feel to it that I can’t stand. Even the mimosa came in one of those high end $ 12 cocktail glasses that is really wide and short. Eh not a fan. I got the chicken and waffles and was also not so impressed. It came with two small strips of fried chicken breast over a waffle. I don’t know. Generally underwhelmed by the whole experience. Maybe if I had just got the whiskey instead…

I always enjoy coming to Whiskey Cake. The employees are always friendly, the food is always delicious and the atmosphere is always so enjoyable. If you haven’t been before, I’d highly recommend giving it a shot! I always try something different on the menu and I’ve never been let down. I’ve tried various beef, pork, duck, chicken and fish dishes and have loved them all. They always come with delicious sides with fresh veggies(gotta eat healthy sometimes right?). They have tasty libations as well. «Whiskey» is the theme so they have a lot of bourbon, whiskey, and scotch options/cocktails to try. Don’t miss out on the Whiskey Cake for dessert. Its basically a delicious moist and dark cake, with nuts, a caramel sauce and fresh whipped cream! It’s life-changingly good! So do it! They also have brunch and on nice days you can sit outside! I just love this place. We bring all of our out of town guests here.

Whiskey cake is my go-to dessert. When I discovered it I couldn’t believe what I had been missing out on all my life. I love the concept of this place and its principle — that all the ingredients are locally grown/bought. I’ve only eaten food here once and had their pulled pork banh mi(I’m all about fusion-y foods) while my date had the OMG burger. While I’m not too thrilled about the food(maybe I just need to try other menu items?) I love just about everything else about this place. The ambiance is casual and very hip but fancy enough for a nice date. It’s the perfect dessert spot, and their bar is extensive. What more could you want? And when they ask if you want the homemade whipped cream on your whiskey cake, you say yes, and they will give you a large scoop, leaving you forever thankful.

This place is interesting. The artwork and design is intriguing. Wait staff even have the handlebar mustache which gives the place a hipster feel! I had the rotisserie farm bird and the chicken was delicious. Cooked perfectly and it wasn’t dried out. I didn’t like the vegetables on the side. It had a strong vinegar taste which didn’t pair well with the chicken. We also tried the turkey burger. It had cranberry jam and avocado, as well. This was pretty good. Absolutely love the whiskey cake. This moist, soft piece of heaven in my mouth was delicious. The whip cream is light and fluffy and always makes you want more! Pecans add a perfect crunch.

I really enjoyed this place! It has a small menu for food, but the menu for drinks is extensive. As the name implies, there is a lot of whiskey to try! You can even try some in a flight. Beer comes in flights as well. I usually love whiskey, but I wasn’t in the mood that night, so I tried the malt beer flight instead. I already had most of the beers in the malt flight, but they’re still good ones to try if you are a fan of dark beers. I also had the guava gimlet, which was a delicious blend of mango and orange. After that, I was still pretty thirsty(one of those nights I guess!), and the waiter recommended the Tennessee stud. I loved that it was very citrusy. You can taste the fresh-squeezed juice. It’s exactly how a whisky sour SHOULD be! I did have food too! A friend ordered the deviled eggs with salmon, which is something I would’ve never thought to do, but I tried it anyway and it is delicious! For my entrée, I had the OMG burger. It was also very tasty, and huge! I can usually put away plenty of food, but it was difficult to finish. Obviously, we had to try the Whiskey Cake, and it was heaven. I don’t want to think about how many calories I consumed in this one meal between drinks and food, but if enjoying a meal like this is wrong, I don’t want to be right! I was here for a friend’s birthday with a party of about 20 people, and our waiter did an amazing job handling us. We were constantly ordering food and drinks, but he was funny and laid back the whole time. We also had to be at a movie, and he was great about getting our checks ready so we could be out the door on time. And despite it being a pretty busy Friday night, our drinks and food were coming out quickly. I was very pleased with the service!

Good food! Decent prices! Great service! Suuuuper cute ambiance! The décor is modern and fun! Went here on a double date night and was pleased. Everyone loved their food and was well fed. The prices were decent, not cheap but fair for a nice restaurant. The food portions were decent as well. I was stuffed after the cod sandwich I had. The service was prompt, which can make or break a place for me! The waiter had plenty of input on menu items when asked which is always nice when I can’t decide what to get. I ask the people who would know the best! Overall, would probably frequent this place if we lived closer. Definitely a recommendation for anyone who hasn’t checked it out yet!

Been here several times. This restaurant is a delight on several levels: (1) All their burgers are great and are portioned generously. (2) Those duck wings (3) The ever wonderful brunch cocktail Wabbit Smash(I hate the flavor of carrot juice, but it provides a perfect accent of freshness to this mid-Saturday drink). (4) It has one of the few fully conceptualized and coherent interiors in OKC. (5) The whiskey cake. It doesn’t matter how full you are, if you haven’t had it yet, don’t put getting this beauty off.

Loved this place. Sat outside in the 75* weather, ordered $ 5.00 fresh squeezed orange juice mimosas. For appetizer I tried their Boston Clam Chowder, delish! Then had the Turkey Burger and a Little Pink Drink soo refreshing. Ab Fab! Will definitely go again, this is now a staple.

Great food, atmosphere, and staff. A solid 4 stars. I was pleasantly surprised by the newness and quality of the dishes. From the outside, one would assume the food can be very generic. Things you would get at a BJ’s or a black angus. But nope, every dish and drink is truely unique. Highly recommend the pink lady for the drink.

I am sorry — I thought I reviewed this place — Whiskey Cake Café is SUPER. The food the cocktails the staff — SUPER. Love the menu — things here are just a little different and the presentation is very earnest — but the food is GOOD and the portions are large(especially for the price). NOTE: Lots of Salt — everything has UBER amounts of salt — so double up on your BP meds — well maybe consult a physician before you do that, but you know what I mean. Drinks are wonderful! Well thought and well prepared — the do take a little longer than normal to prepare and arrive — which only means you will leave sober… and WCC won’t take all your money — ha, so not the worst thing. And I love a restaurant that loves their spirit — yes the WHISKEYCAKEISTHEBEST. Staff here are all cute — they only hire cute people — bonus star for sexy staff. The crowd is MIXED all types — LOVETHATLOVEIT — a restaurant that attracts and welcomes everyone is my kind of place.

Wow! Great atmosphere, servers are Great, and the bartenders are AWESOME. Ask for Casey or Amber if you’re sitting at the bar, they know their stuff, and even have a few secret concoctions themselves that aren’t on the menu. Whiskey Cake grows a lot of the herbs and the fine details that go into their dishes ONSITE, if that isn’t as locally sourced as it can be, I don’t know what is. The burgers at this place are to die for, they are amazing. They also make one one of the best Sazerac’s in the city. This place is my go to for a quick bite to eat for lunch, or a drink with friends, the bar is open until midnight on weeknights as well!

My wife and I had duck wings and fried green tomatoes as appetizers. Both were tasty and unique. The wings were tangy and the tomatoes were crispy and tender. For an entrée we both had the duck breast with heirloom carrots. Good flavor. Duck was a little chewy. Whiskey cake was awesome!

The food and atmosphere was definitely enjoyable. I had the pulled pork sliders and my wife had the Basic Burger. We really liked both of our meals(although I was a little put off by the presentation of the pulled pork sliders being served on a brick. It just seemed like they were trying too hard to be «edgy».) We really liked the caramelized onion dip & kettle chips(well, my wife liked the dip. I wasn’t a fan). We were really surprised that they kept refilling the chips. Overall, we were quite pleased with our dinner there.

On my trip to OKC this was my favorite dining experience. I like that they’re farm to table, everything seemed very fresh and the alcoholic drinks were very well made. The atmosphere is very homey yet loud enough for people to have good conversations without others hearing. It’s all wooden looking inside as if you’re in a mine of some sort. For starters, the kettle chips with onion dip(there was a lot dip and our waiter gave us extra chips with no added cost) were good. We ordered their seasonal deviled eggs, which were very unique. I don’t particularly like fish but ordered the Striped Bass and was not disappointed. It wasn’t fishy and the slaw underneath was the perfect crunch, needless to say I cleared my plate. Upon my friends request we ordered the Whiskey Cake, I’m not much of a dessert fan, but it was very tasty without being too sweet which I like. I wish I could back for sure.

I’ve always enjoyed brunch at Whiskey Cake. We had the deviled eggs(delicious). We usually get the Monte Cristo French Toast, which is delicious. Today the Monte Cristo bread was well made, cheese excellent as usual, but there was maybe 1oz of ham on the sand which… And that is being generous! I don’t know if Whiskey Cake is trying to save money and increase profits or what the goal is with skimping on the meat, but they need to go back to completely covering the bun with ham! I gave 3 stars because I can’t continue to pay $ 12 for a sandwich with 1.5 oz of meat!

I was very impressed with Whiskey Cake! Visiting felt like a little slice of home, and my friend and I appreciated all of the little details in their décor and environment. The menu and cocktails were creative and had interesting ingredients. I got a cocktail with beet juice in it in the season(very good), and we ordered their shishito peppers, their duck breast, ramen. and everything on their menu was flavorful. I thought it was a great mix. Based on one visit, I’d like to come back!

I’ve had so many amazing dishes from here(granted I wasn’t a fan of their po boy style fish sandwich but mainly because of the bread as it was just too tough, but that’s been my only let down really and I’ve been here several times) and I do usually order their entrée but I’ve also had just a few appetizers as a meal(why was I not informed of the massive amount of sliders there were lol I looked like a glutton when that and my salad arrived lol, I only ended up eating one and a half) and every single one has been amazing. If you haven’t yet, try the duck wings. OMG! The staff are all great, no complaints. Sterling is very nice and attentive. He stood out to me above the rest. Ambiance is nice and they also have a bar area which offers a bit more of a relaxed vibe. Drinks here in general are perfection. No complaints. The tab is not cheap but I feel it’s well worth it for a treat or special occasion. I would actually consider this place for event planning as well. Keep up the great work WC and Unilocalers do not be swayed buy some of the negativity. Everyone’s pallets are different but this place is truly wonderful and I also encourage you to follow them on social media to stay abreast of their happenings. Ciao

This was by far the worst dining experience I’ve had in OKC it’s sad too because I’ve had meals there in the past and have thoroughly enjoyed them. I have even taken friends and family in from out-of-state there. Was it a short list of go to places. The bread pudding was my favorite. I went there recently with some girlfriends. One ordered an eight dollar beer and it was served in a thimble sized glass. We laughed when it came because obviously there was something wrong. I could understand it at some place in New York or San Francisco and you’re only paying for the atmosphere fine. All the other menu prices for beer were seven or nine dollars. When we inquired about the cost the waiter gave us a story about Oklahoma law and how it has to be a certain size because of the higher alcohol content. We asked if it is half the size why is it not have to price. He had the manager come over and she McSorryed us for about five minutes explaining Oklahoma beverage law and the reason they couldn’t give us a full glass. It was insulting. Why not charge half the price if you’re giving half the amount? When asked this she said it was whiskey café’s «Policy.» That is code for this is a BS rule and I can’t do anything about it. Fine you ripped us off with the beer let’s get down to the entrées. I had a codfish sandwich. If I said there was an once if fish on this sandwich, that would be generous! It was tasteless and the bread was stale. Yeah, check please! Who is running this place now? It’s as though a great chef got it up and running and a soulless conglomerate bought it and is trying it’s hardest to run it into the ground so they can use it as a write off. Yes, it’s that bad.

Yay! I’m a fan. This is a uniquely decorated chill place that I am surprised is so large and a chain. When I first heard about it from friends, I expected a little shop, but that’s not the case. It’s decorated with Edison bulbs, egg cartons, grandma couches, and other oddities. They focus on local and organic ingredients. I always start with the The Great Escape. It’s a rum thing. I really like it. I think you will, too. If I were to sing the song«Favorite Things(foodie addition)» it would talk about spinach and chicken and avocado and bleu cheese. Introduce their Spinach Chicken Salad with bleu instead of whatever cheese. Yay! My chicken was over-cooked the second time I went. Tablemates started with the fried green tomatoes, which I also enjoyed. Everybody really liked their food. Sometimes it can be a little difficult to grab your waiter’s attention, they don’t seem to be well grouped. I never had the whiskey cake. This makes me sad. My colleagues went another time without me and told me how great it was and then we didn’t order it the next time. Womp, womp.

Stopped in for dinner before a movie. I got the fried chicken salad. It was delicious. The buttermilk-yogurt vinaigrette was perfect. My partner had the OMG burger and he said it was in his words«a great burger». Oh, don’t forget the deviled eggs if you like eggs. They are amazing. Being as we were going to a movie and then Christmas shopping we opted for just water with lemon rather than and alcoholic beverages but the menus for beverages seemed quite nice and a good selection. This restaurant has a fun atmosphere and draws a nice crowd. Our server was great. We will certainly be back.

Ugh… I so want to love this place, and in some ways I do, but the food, oh the food… its just so… so…so…mediocre. Let me say this up front, I usually sit at the bar and the bar staff is super friendly and overall, pretty knowledgeable… the food is just a 2.5−3 for me, but the bar staff always makes the visits tolerable. I wish I could give a 3.5, but I cant in all good conscious give a 4. The food… I dont know what it is, it just seems so… chain like to me(isnt there only 2?)…just kind of bland and average. I mean the concept of locally sourced stuff and farm to table and all that is awesome, but everything just tastes… meh. And its not exactly cheap. I dont know… I really want to love them and I just cant.

A very strong 4-stars. The Wood Grilled Pork Brisket Steak was incredible! They grits were very well also, including the nice touch of fruit that was added. With it being medium well, I like how the edges were burnt. Both dishes complimented each other. The Whiskey Cake, over the top! Toffee, bourbon, pecans & whipped cream. Cake was hot, perfect for everything that was on it. Not too sweet, just sweet enough. Also, I ordered The Autumn Line, which bourbon, spiced agave syrup, lemon & yellow chartreuse. Sweet & sour. The waitress was one of the best I’ve ever witnessed. I wish I remembered her name. She was into her job & it wasn’t a front.

I always passed by this place and thought it was some generic chain, but it’s actually really unique and delicious. We ordered the Vietnamese sandwich, the chicken sandwich, and the salmon. The Vietnamese sandwich was a mistake. It was really bland and the sauce didn’t really go with it. None of us were a fan even though we all love Vietnamese sandwiches. The chicken sandwich was really good, but didn’t surprise me in anyway, which is fine. Finally, the salmon was one of the best plates of salmon I have ever had, and I’m not a fan of salmon. The only other place I’ve had equal salmon was Guernsey Park, which is way more expensive so I’d call this one the winner. It also had some super decadent but delicious cauliflower. Our server Josh was ridiculously friendly. We tipped him well. All in all, I had low expectations and as a result, I was pleasantly surprised.

Whiskey Cake provides a wonderful experience each and every time we visit. Wow, where to start… Location: I wasn’t a fan initially, but the Penn Square Mall parking lot grows on you. A restaurant in a mall parking lot. This has«Blah» written all over it. Turns out, with the amount of people that keep coming back for more they need the extra parking. I sometimes have to walk a little extra to get to the front door, but that’s because they are packed. The Wait: Super friendly hostesses! Smiles. Positive attitudes. Quick attention so you never feel ignored. The Wait Staff: Really great folks here. The waiter actually remember us for his first night. I mean he actually remembered the event. This might be unusual, but all of the waiters and waitresses remember us. The manager came and asked us about the meal we had the previous month. The Interior: Huge amount of space here that is packed with tables. For some odd reason, it doesn’t feel crowded. You can hear everyone at the table with out straining your ears. Egg crate sound dampening at its finest, without looking cheap. The Bar: A wide selection of delights that will temp those that want to drink from the tap, the bottle, the glass, or from the specials list. Just say, «Yes» to what they put in front of you. You are not going to be disappointed here.
