I got my hair done by Lacey Nicolas. She did a great job! Ill be going back this summer to go lighter!

Sophie always does a great job: she is friendly, professional, and knows how to interpret my completely uninformed requests for low-​maintenance but current hair cuts. I also like supporting a local business that really seems to do right by its employees. Highly recommended.

I called this morning and they got my in today for a quick wax. Super friendly staff, funky décor, and good vibes all around. They are also members of keep it local so be sure to bust out your card. I haven’t had a cut or color here yet but I’m excited to try them soon.

Now I got the hair to match the dance moves! Thank you! Pretty damn good service. Maybe just a little pushy with their proprietary products, but they are good.

Zak was my amazing stylist yesterday, she did an all over cherry chocolate color and I freaking love it! I’m new to town and she told me all about the area, such a sweetie… I just found my new favorite salon!

I came in to get an ombré with Kara Moss. After showing her a picture of what I wanted, she explained that instead of an ombré, it was a balayage style. What I got was none of the two. The color came out wrong, and I had weird bleach spots close to my scalp (see attached picture). Kara promised I could come back and she’d fix it (since I was getting my hair done for my wedding) and gave me her card.
I called and texted to schedule a fix. Kara never replied or returned my calls and texts.
I paid her the full $ 150 and even added on a 35% tip because she promised to fix it. If I was a difficult customer, I’d understand her hesitance to return my calls. But I was civil, honest, came in with a picture of what I wanted, and tipped her well.
I chose this salon since it seemed well-​rated and respectable. I’m walking away from this experience feeling disappointed and cheated.

Ana did my hair when the 63^rd location was too busy and I was completely satisfied with what she gave me — and had great conversations!

Ana was great! She turned a bad haircut (from another salon) into an adorable new style. She worked with my wavy hair and cowlicks and turned a troublesome piece of hair into the cutest part of my new haircut. It is also going to take no time at all to do my hair in the morning. She’s also great to talk with. :O)

I was really hesitant about going to a new salon after moving here from Californha and having someone there I loved so much. once I realized I wasn’t making it back anytime soon someone recommended velvet monkey to me so I decided to give it a shot. Ana ended up being the stylist Available at the time I could come in and I’m so glad I ended up with her. I came in with a few inspiration pictures from my Pinterest, we talked over what I wanted and I couldn’t be more happy. My hair ended up spot on looking like the photos I brought in and what I described. Not only that but after doing my hair at home it still looks like after I walked out of the salon (which is rare). If you want an awesome hairstylist who’s also really easy to chat with go see Ana.

Read on here a few reviews back about Alexandra Ford (@_palexandra_) being able to cut men pretty well and they weren’t wrong… I came with 5 years of dreads and after 37 short minutes of work I was a new penny… they’re on their toes up there at velvet monkey and they can cut just about anything I’m sure of it…

Good customer service and nice atmosphere! However, I must say that I had my hair better styled before I entered the hair salon. After the hairstyle blew dry/​styled my hair I was so unhappy with the results that I asked for her to do some waives. It looked better after the waives but nothing compared to what I usually get in a different hair salon. It just looked okay. It’s very frustrating to pay $ 55 + $ 13 tip to have an OKAY result.

My hairstylist was Ana. She did an ombré touch up– black to blonde. And the color was amazing! Vibrant, not to mention the exact color blend I had in mind (which never happens). After the color, she trimmed my bangs. I have straight across bangs and I’m typically super scared of others messing them up– so much so that I normally just cut my bangs myself. After talking to her while doing the color, she built up my trust to allow her to trim my bangs. And let me tell you– she cut them Exactly. How. I. Asked. The perfect length, texture, everything.
If you want a particular hairstyle– go to her! She will listen! Im so happy I found someone in Oklahoma City that I can trust with my hair.

I can HIGHLY recommend this salon.
I had a bit of a disastrous colour job done at home in the UK before visiting Oklahoma this week and needed it rectifying rather urgently.
Kara was able to fit me in the following day.
She put high and low lights through the mess and turned it in to a sleek and uniform style again.
I was treated like a goddess throughout. …but that might have been due to my British accent! ;-)

Absolutely love this place! Love the atmosphere and the location even though parking can suck a little depending on the time of day. The stylist and receptionists are always so friendly and they use the best products.
I see Sophie regularly and she is always 100% down to do any fun colors I have in mind and she’s always so happy! I couldn’t go anywhere else in Oklahoma.

My girl, Addison works here. We started coming since she moved salons. Addison cuts our whole family’s hair. Even my 6 year old with crazy curls loves her. The salon is clean and kinda funky but that’s part of the charm. Because it had the exposed ceilings and beams it gets loud, it is hard for me to take work calls. I like they have the unite brand and accept credit cards.

If you’re a guy and know nothing about current hair styles and trends then ask for Alex. She’s the best. She’s worked in some local fashion shoots and some movies shot here in Oklahoma. Alex specializes in men’s hair (short) and it you don’t know what style you want she will give you good advice on current styles.

Well so Alex has moved on to bigger and better things :(Good for her, bad for us. But there are still plenty of good stylists at the Velvet Monkey. And they still will keep you informed on current styles. ;)

Although there was some confusion with my appointment scheduling and I got rescheduled with a few different people, they were very accommodating and put me with Peyton. She was AMAZING!
My color is perfect and although I was a little nervous about it being too bright, but it’s perfect, and I’m so glad I trusted her. The cut is also INCREDIBLE. I never used to wear my hair down, and now I can wear it down everyday. A few years ago I had a traumatizing experience with a haircut, and Peyton was so understanding and checked in with me numerous times to make sure my I was doing ok!
I had a great experience here, and maybe have the best haircut of my life! I will absolutely be back.

I have been seeing Sean for over a year, and I honestly can’t imagine a better hair stylist. For cut and color, he is the go-​to guy. And did you know… he is a stylist to the Oklahoma stars?! Exactly, he knows what’s what.

I have been to then Monkey, as I call it, twice now. Everyone in the salon is super nice and fun from the get go. The shop has an awesome vibe to it because it is funky and eccentric. They sell all kind of vintage stuff and I especially like all the jewelry they have. I have met a few of the stylists and they are all all nice and work as a team. I have seen many of them assisting each other. This is not because they are not knowledgeable… it’s because they care and they want your hair to be the best it can be and make you look amazing.
I usually go to Britt. She is by far one of the best stylists in the place. She is fantastic with color… took me from super dark brown to a beautiful strawberry blonde that I wanted. She also does really fun funky cuts. She has her own quirky style that I just love. I have super long straight hair and a lot of times it takes well over three hours to color and cut my hair start to finish. She never complained and knew exactly how to treat my mane of a head of hair. She is also great with men’s cuts. I have seen her portfolio and she can do your dads hair or your boyfriends rocker cut. Britt is great!!!

EDIT: Jessica has moved on from Velvet Monkey– you can now find her at Sanctuary Salon. I still highly recommend her, but I don’t know any of the remaining stylists at Velvet Monkey.
Still going there a year and a half later. Jessica just updated my hair today, and this was my most difficult service, by far– she lifted it (only to discover I still had a lot of red from a previous hair color) and dyed it to a medium brown. It’s fantastic, it feels beautifully healthy, and the cut (as always) is fantastic. I would go nowhere else.
