Steak & Catfish Barn

This place does not disappoint. Yeah it’s a dinner style place so it’s out dates and that just fine. The wait staff are friendly. The food is very good, catfish melt in your mouth and the strip steak was very good and cooked the way we like it

The food was yummy and they had live music that was nice. The waitress was a little rude, maybe just having a bad day. The prices weren’t bad either.

This place is 3.5 star
3 star — don’t come here for the décor or ambiance — it’s about half step up from a Dairy Queen in a rural small town. (Especially with the fly strip hanging from the ceiling and the old ceiling tiles) staff is very friendly but incredibly slow! So plan on waiting for your food.
4 star– for the food!!! The catfish is some of the best I have ever eaten!!! It’s not dry — it’s moist and flavorful. My husband and I had the sampler — shrimp was yummy — the chicken was not the ones in any school cafeteria I’ve eaten in (referenced in a different review) — hush puppies look like they could be over cooked but they are anything but. We could hear the cooks and a lot of people were ordering steaks — so will have to try one another time. The people next to us had the chicken fry and it looked good. Mashed potatoes have real chunks of potato and peels (ask for some cheese and extra butter, without the gravy)
Lots of take-​out too.
The food is outstanding — just don’t concern yourself with the surroundings. We will be back.

Great food and friendly service. The catfish is awesome and I am usually not a fan of catfish. Chicken fried steak is a staple. Not over breaded. You get a good amount for what you pay for. Don’t let the outside of building sway you out of trying it.

The original easily had THE best fried catfish I’ve ever had. And very cheap for a ton of food. From the outside, the corrugated metal supports resembles a safehouse for Buffalo Bill’s victims. Inside will not make you change your mind. But I’ve learned (sadly) that a new, boring location has been opened since the original owners sold the restaurant & moved to Southern Italy. The hush puppies and baked beans were very good as well.

The prices on the website are WAY off! It shows a $ 3.oo difference for lunch for a brisket sandwich & 1 side. The website shows $ 6.99 & the menu inside the restaurant shows $ 9.99! That’s a big jump for the same item!
FYI: A brisket sandwich for lunch is not worth $ 9.99! not even with 1 side.

First time back after location move. Still the best steak around. Went for lunch with husband and couldn’t pass up the special, which was an 8oz strip steak with two sides for 8.99 that we shared, added two pieces of catfish (which was much better than I remember before) and a slice of pecan pie to the order and our ticket came to about $ 20 before tip. Great service as well, right on top of things. Glad it’s closer, can’t wait to come back for a ribeye at dinner service sometime.

You have to get the catfish, it’s the best I’ve ever had. So white and fresh and the cornmeal batter is amazing! Also, they have Pepsi products!

I try to come here once a month for some good home cooking. Every time I come here the service is prompt and the staff is really friendly. The owner goes around and talks to the customers and it really gives a warm, family friendly atmosphere. The food is always great and has the best flavor. So far I’ve had the catfish, chicken-​fried-​steak, shrimp, and the steaks and it is consistantly cooked perfectly! I love this place and will continue coming here as long as they are open.

Haven’t tried the steak but we r big fans of the catfish and wait staff. Those girls work hard!

Yuck! We had always heard about this place when it was on Waterloo Rd & on Man vs Food so we decided to try the new location. My husband had the sampler — catfish, fried shrimp & chicken strips, my daughter had catfish, I tried the chicken fried steak. The chicken strips were the same frozen thin strips that my daughter’s school cafeteria serves for lunch. Neither one thought the fish was very tasty. The hush puppies served with the fish looked like burnt balls of cornmeal. My chicken fry was more breading than meat. The side salad was nothing but lettuce with a little grated carrot. The best thing we ate was the fried zucchini appetizer. Won’t be going back or suggesting this place to anyone.

Service was good but very busy and understaffed. Catfish was good. Didn’t try the steak.

This was my husband and I’s first time here and we really enjoyed it! The service was extremely quick, the food was delicious and we had a good time stuffing our face with their tasty meals. He got the all you can eat catfish which I recommend just getting the regular platter and then asking to upgrade if you are still hungry… it’s a lot of food lol. I had the sampler platter that had shrimp, catfish and chicken.

Took Robin and Heather, my daughter and granddaughter on our monthly lunch date to Bob’s Steak and Catfish. It’s a bit unusual because it is easy to mistake for a gas station as there are gas pumps out front, and a gas station adjacent. All with the same outside color motif. The place was surrounded by pickup trucks. Once inside sure enough there were plenty of denim and ball caps present…
I ordered Catfish, Fried Okra and Corn, Robin had Fish (Cod) & Chips and Salad. Heather has Salisbury Steak Fries and Salad. Now I know why it was crowded with working men. The food was very good and the portions extra generous. Six or seven pieces of Catfish on my plate, Same with Robins Cod.
The service was speedy and price was super reasonable. Our drinks never went dry. It may not be the place for your Prom Date, but if you want a hearty satisfying reasonably priced meal put this place on your list
