Overpriced mediocre food is what you get when you come to Shorty Small’s. Almost everything on the menu is fried. The bread(if you choose to call it that) is like a rock dipped in cement, tasteless, hard, disgusting. I ordered the«all-you-can-eat» catfish, which is basically a plateful of greasy fries and three sad pieces of over-breaded catfish. If you ask for more, your server will explain to you that«it could be a while.» And it is… a long while… about 20 minutes. It becomes crystal clear that«all-you-can-eat» is more of a catch-phrase to lure you into the restaurant. To actually put the«all-you-can-eat» theory into practice is strongly discouraged.

1st off I am mortified that people rate the food here with more than one star. OKC must be a bastion of crappy restaurants. Ok to Shorty Smalls… Ambiance/décor — fine… nothing special, looks like the designer does this as a part time gig. Mostly a mish mash of mished mash. They do have a full bar… so I suggest drinking a lot prior to eating… the food will be MUCH better. The food… don’t even know where to start The cheese biscuit was dry and completely devoid of flavor. The baked beens absolutely were from a can… really? A can??? The cole slaw was ok… I believe that is made here, but the cooks, not chef… like there would be a chef, any ways the cooks need to learn the art of seasoning. Salt and pepper helped the slaw. The fries are the very BEST item on the menu… how freaking sad is that??? The bbq… one it’s not bbq… it’s not smoked… it’s cooked… and hugely over cooked at that. The ribs were slightly worse than burnt toast, The pulled pork was soggy, and flavorless. The sausage was ok… just ok. When I asked the server for more bbq sauce, I asked if they had a spicy sauce… the reply«we only have the one»… what bbq restaurant in the world only has ONE bbq sauce. I am so happy about 2 things. one I am only visiting, so I won’t be stuck with with this quality of food… two, OKC really needs to raise their food standards.

O greasy spoon café. Watch out for the members club. Seasoned fries are missing seasoning. Upside waitress extremely perky. The cook is a huge fan of dill pickles. So greasy in fact it hit me and I have use the restroom in the middle of my meal.

I read it on a comment before, the food here is «fair», but I could have made at home for less that 10 bucks. Main problem with this place PRICE, I saw online before we went that it was $$$$$ but I thought it’s because it was really exceptional tasting food. For the 40 bucks we spent there we could have had a great meal at a whole bunch of places in OKC, and one that I wouldn’t have had to sit on a broke booth cushion. Man pass this place by, it aint worth what they charge.

Overpriced bad attempt at anything. Wait staff was unsure of anything and had to check with management on anything. I just can ot say anything good about the food there.

Fried catfish was good not great. Chicken liver was better. Well seasoned. Unfortunately, Fox News was on the big screen TV. Why would management choose to ever have a TV on any type of TV show or channel that offends close to half the population? To management’s credit, they did change the channel after we asked to have the channel changed.

It’s hard to rate a place on one dish. But I’ve been to Shorty Smalls twice and had the Monte Cristos each time. Why, when there are so many delicious looking items on the menu you ask? Well because it’s the best Monte Cristo I’ve ever had. And the service both times has been the best I’ve had in Oklahoma City. The price may be a little steep but I simply don’t care. I’ll be back in very short order. My mom had the kitchen sink burger and said it the best she’s had in years.

Was in town for a couple of days and wanted to try some authentic BBQ. I don’t know if it was authentic but was highly recommended on Trip Advisor and it tasted pretty good and can’t complain I have made better pulled pork but would recommend it for the taste but not for the authenticity.

This was my first visited, it was just right next to our hotel. Food was great and service was amazing. I used promotion Groupon deal. Big portion of food. Me and my sister ended up getting to go box since we couldn’t finished a full rack of ribs and chicken liver entrée. Will definitely come back for it if I ever visit here.

I liked the food here. They had a good selection. And they had one of my favorites Chicken Livers. It was a really large portion. To many really. The burger and cat fish my companions got also looked good. Service was really good. If I return to Oklahoma City I would eat there again.

Came here for lunch with some work buddies, got the chicken fried steak and wowzers… this thing was huge and I even opted for the smaller size. Good country cooking and the service was great!

This is our second visit here as we are snowed in and stuck at the Wyndham hotel. We came here to catch the Sunday football game. We sat at the bar and had a great service at the bar. The bartender was attentive and quick with service. We had a taco salad that was verrrrrry delicious. I also had a cup of the baked potato soup. Let me tell ya, 1) it was a BIG cup of soup, and 2) it was thick, warm, creamy, full of real chunks of potatoes, and topped with cheese and bacon. The only way it could have been better was if they would have put a dollop of sour cream on top.

This place has good food. However, sometimes stuff just isn’t perfect. Service can sometimes be a letdown. Last time I was in, my water sat empty for a while. Still, it’s worth a try. Heck, the girlfriend and I are going back tonight. I’m getting the cheese sticks! ;) When this place isn’t on point, it’s a 2 – 3 star place. When it’s in-motion, it’s a 5-star. My only complaints other than consistency are that the«owner’s club» gives me a weird feeling. Would I be part of it if I lived closer? Absolutely! But it’s still odd. [take everything below here with a grain of salt, I’m basing it on experiences that include other Shorty Smalls] The cheese sticks are huge and amazing. I remember loving the burgers. The chicken fried steak will satisfy even the most munchiest men and women. The girlfriend loves the monte cristo. They tend to have good fries.

This place on Sunday night was a disaster! My margarita sat out for so long it was watered down and gross. The server who brought my food walked the room looking for me, as did several other servers. Now a third walking the room of 6 tables with random food. The one waitress, with dark hair working on Sunday at 9:15p — not my waitress was the only one who seemed to have any sense of what was going on. Food was returned multiple times for other guests. Took forever to get the check. Should have known by the poor attitude of the hostess when I arrived. Never again Shorty Small! They needed to get their life right! I question where the manager or supervisor was at while this train wreck occurred.

Really good ribs! You can believe the hype. My friends said the steak was very good as well. The staff is fun and friendly, but I have to mention that the manager walked right in front of us while we were eating at the bar and began describing a drainage problem they were having. Admittedly, they were bringing in a professional to fix the issue but I was a little put off that the manager didn’t take the time to ask us if we’d like to move while they fixed it. Instead we sat there listening to the appetizing sound of a drain being snaked while we enjoyed our very tasty meal. Immediately following our meal, the stench began and we asked if there was a discount for the smell. The bartender politely stated that they didn’t have a button on the POS for that. I imagine you’ll probably have a better experience than we did because the odds of this situation happening again aren’t very high. On the off chance it does, I hope the manager and the staff are more attentive after reading this review.

I live in the city but this is our first time here. We were dining with 2KIDS. It was a Saturday and not very busy … I don’t know why. The food itself was tasty. The management is NOT. We ordered the app«macho nachos with peppers on the side» when it was sat on the table, it had peppers all over it. The waitress automatically took nachos away without us asking. :) it was returned to us without jalapeños :(however, they were the same nachos! We knew this because there was a couple still hiding. We were offered a remedy but declined free dessert. So if your looking for good food but questionable management this is your place.

Husband and I both ordered Shorty’s world famous ribs. Very tender, his were sauced and prepared better than mine. Somehow mine head more char and had less sauce, but not bad. Best part was we went on a Tuesday and both plates were $ 4 off! The chips and queso appetizer hit the spot. My little one was disappointed with the kids menu options. She likes to enjoy the flavors of the restaurant we are at, and the basic cotn dog/chicken/burger/pizza options didn’t appeal much to her. She went ahead and ordered the pizza and was sad to find out that they only serve cheese pizza. Sorry kids. No pepperoni here! She actually ended up eating ribs with me and really enjoyed them. Best part for her was that kids can choose a popsicle with their meal, from the freezer. Our server was very attentive and entertained our talkative daughter very well. The manager made his way by during our meal to make sure all was well, so that was a nice touch too.

The word of the day for Shorty’s is: decent. Nothing was particularly memorable, but it was all ‘good’. The service was *decent*. There was a time where my water was very empty when I wasn’t drinking it particularly fast, and when you’re food is taking a while to get to you, you notice things like that a little more. Cheese dip and chips 3⁄5: *Decent*. That’s disregarding the intense price tag of $ 7.99. Ouch! The chips were sturdy, and that’s totally something to point out, because brittle chips suck and you know it. For the first time in my restaurant experience, there was more queso than there were chips. So that was a pleasant surprise. The queso was thick, but thin enough to make sipping easy. The unfortunate part was that the taste was run of the mill and slightly bland. Smothered chicken(grilled chicken tenders topped with sauteed mushrooms, onions, red and green bell peppers, covered with swiss cheese. served with rice pilaf, green beans and a cheese biscuit) 3⁄5: All in all, this dish was *decent*. The portion of it was filling(and a bit much if you spring for an appetizer), but I’m not sure I agree with the $ 13.49 stamp when it comes to quality. The chicken was fairly juicy, but the melted Swiss had that ‘plastic’y’ quality you get from cheap and/or improperly melted cheese. The green beans were surprisingly good. I was expecting them to taste like out of a can or cooked in a way that left them too firm, but they might have been the better part of the dish. The rice ran about the same as any pilaf you’d get at a *decent* restaurant. Decadent chocolate cake(old fashioned chocolate cake topped with chocolate and more chocolate and more chocolate and more.) 4⁄5: What an apt description. I ACTUALLY ordered cheesecake, but… whateveeeer. I am not a big chocolate fan, to be honest. This cake was –intense-, guys. Chocolate with chocolate icing on top and between layers with chocolate drizzle and chocolate sprinkles. And it was –dense-. It wasn’t very moist, though, and that sort of topples the density of the cake, making it difficult to masticate and enjoy properly. But if you looove chocolate, this is your jam. I don’t think I’d return unless I was on this side of town during lunch(they have decent lunch specials).
