Great hole in the wall burger place! It was like we went back in time-loved looking at the old family photos on the wall. We had a big group-13 people-no reservations-we just showed up and they promptly seated us in a back room. The service was top notch; our waiter was very attentive. I am not a fan of pickles, but my husband really raved about the fried pickles with ranch appetizer so I tried it and it was really good! For my meal I had the mushroom bacon swiss burger with fries. Not your healthiest meal, but so good! I was tempted to get a shake(they have malts and shakes) but didn’t. Maybe next time! I had iced tea and I liked how the drinks were served in «to go» cups and they gave us lids so we could take them with us for our drive back home to Tulsa. Great burger place, check it out!

It’s OK. Definitely not the best Borger in OKC but not the worst either. Good beer selection and I do dig the onion rings.

Irmas Burger shack is the best place for burgers in OKC. It’s a tiny little hole in the wall just across from Chesapeake Energy headquarters. My favorites are the chipotle ranch fries and the Wynewood Thunder. It’s a mouthful so make sure you’ve got the calories to burn. So tasty! There won’t be room for dessert, but that’s just fine. Definitely 5-star worthy!

A rainy Monday noontime lunch found me at Irma’s Burger Shack ordering a No Name Cheeseburger with grilled onions and Cheddar cheese. I asked for fries with no seasoning. I have been here before but 2 years ago. The No Name beef was fresh tasting but surprisingly had muted flavors The sensation was of wet beef as if freshl from the field No aging or muddy flavor here. The bun was an unremarkable but very fresh dome of bread. With a soft chewy texture it delivered the burger patty with a muted wheaty undertone. The fries were fresh and soft with plenty of potato punch. They were golden brown but no crisp exterior and that was fine with me this time. They tasted more homemade and not institutional. With no deficiencies I gave a perfect score and and definite return rating. Bring out of state family and friends for some good Oklahoma cuisine.

I was seated immediately upon arrival. My drink order was taken quickly as well. They have a great selection of burgers. The hard part is deciding which burger to order. I ordered the wynnewood burger that had chili and a fried egg. The chili was a great compliment to the burger and the egg was cooked perfectly so that the yolk could ooze down the side of the burger. My waitress was probably the best waitress that I have had at any restaurant anywhere. I wish I could remember her name so that I could list it here and give her some public praise. I tipped her about 30% of the tab. I honestly should have tipped her more than that, that is how good she was. You should try Irma’s if your looking to have a great burger.

The parking is meager, to start. It’s a good thing we went during the slow period or else we may not have been able to maneuver our truck into the parking spot. The menu is pretty typical which could be good if you’re not looking to try anything new. The lemonade we ordered was pretty much 90% crushed ice. It tasted pretty good but wasn’t likely anything but store bought which isn’t necessarily bad.(I Did take my cup home after all) We got the bacon cheese fries to start. Pretty okay. The bacon was sparce and the fries pretty limp and soggy. Could have used more salt. and bacon. I got the patty melt and he had the No Name Chopped Steak with ocra and coleslaw. He didn’t say anything about the slaw but he did point out that they fried the stem of one of the okra. This could have just been an honest mistake so I won’t really hold it against them. When our waitress brought his bottle of A-1, it was empty. The texas toast? Buttered white-bread. Didn’t hold up well against all the grease. The slice of tomato looked pretty fresh and ripe and so did the lettuce. The ‘steak’ my bf got? It was pretty much a burger patty. I guess they ground up a steak and made it into a patty? Not sure of the purpose of this or why they call it a steak. It wasn’t cooked to his specifications. When we got our check, we didn’t get a pen but luckily I had one in my bag. We might have left sooner if I hadn’t forgotten for about five minutes that the bill was on me. Not returning to this place. We both were pretty disappointed. He actually stated that from now on, we’re sticking to our usual lunch spot. The place pretty much turned him/us off of trying anything new.

We are from Wisconsin but come here every May for the women’s college world series softball tournament. This is one of our favorite stops every year. Burgers are to die for, raised down the road in OK. I tried the Frito pie this time and it was excellent! The buttermilk pie is the bomb! Excellent service and very helpful with the menu. The hole in the wall atmosphere makes the experience even better.

Tried this place today, maybe since I am from Southern California and we have unreal hamburger places, I have a distorted sense of what a great burger is. Well this place is highly rated so I thought I would give it a try, and well not blown away at all. Fried pickles were extremely salty, the fries were just your average run of the mill over salted fries, and I got the fire burger, I think I make a better burger in my backyard. I am probably in the minority, but just my feelings on the place.

The perfect burger place with all american charm! Love this location more than the Midtown one. This original location is at the corner of 63rd and Western. It really is in a shack-like building, but that’s the best part. Burgers, black bean burgers, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs etc. Options are limited. Don’t pass up the fries or okra, but i suggest skipping their coleslaw(yuck). My last visit I was vegetarian at the time so went with the black bean burger with mushrooms and jalapenos. The mushrooms almost had a red wine taste to them-so good! Slathered with mustard and I was happy. Service was super quick and attentive! It’s super family friendly and just a good olé burger joint. It’s the kind of place the family rolls out to for Saturday lunch or where you celebrate after the kids soccer game!

The original Irma’s seems in need of some TLC. We met some friends here for dinner a couple of weeks ago, and it seemed to be on the decline. We chose Irma’s because we were hoping to sit on the patio. Now, I should point out that it was a touch early for patio season(mid-March), but the patio was closed. When we asked to be sure we couldn’t sit out there, they told us it was dirty and in disrepair. No worries, we got a table inside. I quickly realized they did not have enough people working, our waitress was stressed and it showed. I think they kept a really small staff on, thinking it would be slow, but it was an absolutely beautiful Sunday, and the whole city had been out playing all day — it shouldn’t have been surprising that it was a busy night. I ordered a bunch of sides, and they were all good. I loved my salad, the fried okra was good and the green beans were good too. Others at their table enjoyed their meals too, including a really good chocolate malt. But we waited a long time: a long time to order, to get our food, to get refills, etc. Then, we went a long time when we were basically finished eating, before we could get our server’s attention. She dropped the check, but we had been hoping to order dessert. She seemed a little put out about it. I think she was just stressed, but we’d been super patient. I’ll happily update if I return and it is a better experience.

I’m surprised that I’ve never written a review for Irma’s because I have eaten at Irma’s many times over the last five years. Unfortunately, I’ve never come to Irma’s expecting an outstanding meal. I love that they have a black bean burger and their sides are fried so of course they’re tasty, but I just always wish there was more to Irma’s. They offer a keep it local discount and the service is decent so it is a great local business to support. The last time I was here, however, the service was way slower than it should have been for 3 p.m. when there were only a few other people dining at the time. Of course, my goal of leaving with a full stomach was accomplished and you can’t ever go wrong with fried okra. I will undoubtedly eat at Irma’s again, but I would definitely not list it as one of my favorite burger joints in OKC.

How many times had I passed that little shack called Irma’s before finally stopping in? More than I can tell you, but when they say that appearances can be deceiving, this is a great example of that. While it doesn’t look like much from the outside, head on in, settle down at a table and get ready to realize just how much that first appearance deceived you! I LOVE that they use local Oklahoma grass fed beef for their burgers. Generally I opt for a bacon cheeseburger and the onion rings while hubby goes for a cheeseburger and fries… hey, we share well, and both the onion rings and fries are great! My daughter can’t/won’t eat anything but grass fed beef and this is one of the few places in town where she won’t argue about going out for a burger. Love the staff too, always friendly, fast and attentive service. When we’re out and about and over near Classen Curve and get hungry, our first thought is IRMA’S! Give them a try and change your whole perception!

Good burgers, fresh ingredients. We had a larger group of 8 and our server was very friendly, helpful and the food came out quickly. I had the California Burger and added an egg it was yummy & cooked perfectly. Parking is tricky because the lot is small, but its not that big of a place period.

The Burger was a 5, everything else I tried just a 2 – 3. I’ll start with the burger since, well, its a burger joint. This is my kind of burger. I have yet to review another OKC burger joint that is only open at certain hours and frequently has long lines(its coming, dont worry, Im in catch up mode), but I am going to compare the Irmas burger to that one. That other place has a really big burger, but its not really my type of burger. Irmas was fantastic burger to me. It wasnt so big it falls apart and it wasnt so thin you cant taste the meat. I appreciated they ask you what temp you want it cooked. I like my burgers medium rare to medium and they nailed the temp perfectly. The meat had a nice texture and didnt feel like processed meat. The condiments… well, who cares? The bun was soft and fit the burger perfectly. Now, the not so great. I tried the fried pickles. Meh. A 2 at best. While the batter was actually one of the better batters Ive had on a fried object, the pickles were cut so thin that they ended up dry and had none of the briny, vinegary flavor you want. If they just cut the pickles a little thicker so they maintained some of their pickle-i-ness, they would be great. The fires were soggy and limp. Honestly, I dont really mind a a little soggy fry, but these were pretty soggy and mushy. I will chalk it up to getting them to go. If youre a crisp fry type of person, you may not like these fries. I also tried the slaw dog… it has chili, slaw and a hotdog. It was ok. I have reviewed another burger joint that I wasnt thrilled with the burger but occasionally craved the chili dog… that is what I am comparing this one to. Te slaw was acyually pretty decent, but it overwhelmed. It has a strong spice and either mustard or vinegar flavor. As a side I would love the slaw, but it overwhelmed the mild hot dog and minimal chili. I would have liked to see a little less slaw and a little more chili. I htink the flavors would have been better balanced. So, yeah, I went with a 4 because this is a burger joint and the burger was outstanding. I did have to take off a star for the pickles especially and the fries a little too. The dog… hard to judge… it wasnt my style but maybe others really love it how I got it, so I wont judge harshly on that. Im sure Ill be back for a burger from time to time though.

This applies to the 63rd street location. I hadn’t been there since 2009. Seeing that they were still in business, in the same location for that matter, says a lot about how well they run their business and treat their customers. I ordered the Irma, well done, no tomatoes with bacon($ 1 extra for two slices… ouch). My best friend got the Frito chili pie and we split an appetizer of fried pickles. The total was just over $ 22 and we tipped $ 5. All in all it was worth it, but I wouldn’t go every day.

The layout of Irma’s is actually kind of cozy, and I enjoyed actually eating there. The service was great, as well, so that’s a plus. The food: Mushroom and Swiss burger 3⁄5: The burgers were good and juicy, and only mildly greasy which is fine with me(as long as it’s not dripping with grease). The size of my burger was just a tad over the manageable mark, so(for me) it required being cut in half. That part is more commentary than pro/con. The mushrooms were on the«meh» side, likely taken from a can and the bacon was alright. Fried okra 1⁄5: Nope, just not for me. I really enjoy great fried okra, but it’s a hard mark to reach because it’s so easy to be mediocre. Maybe if you’re a huge fan of okra it would be decent. Fried pickles 4⁄5: The breading is good. Though, the pickles were a bit on the thin side. They had a good flavor to them, though, so the size is negligible. Overall, I personally don’t think that the burgers and sides weigh equally in comparison to the pricing, but it’s an alright place to go if you’re already on that side of town.

This review applies to both locations.(I used to work downtown so that was the regular spot, but now it’s mostly the 63rd location because our office moved.) Me and my coworkers eat here for lunch at least once every few months, the food is good, casual atmosphere, usually crowded at lunch(more so downtown). I’m not much of a red meat eater so I usually get the cobb salad, which is always good, big and very filling. Their ranch dressing tastes homemade. I’ve had the chicken fingers and the chili dog with mustard slaw and fries, both were very good. I’ve never had their hamburgers which they are supposed to be known for. It’s not the cheapest place for lunch but not the most expensive either, middle of the road. Their chili is great too. This is one of only a few places whose chili I like, it’s homemade, not the canned stuff. It’s a good hearty chili(not to be confused with hot dog sauce) with great flavor. The staff ranges from disinterested to friendly. Service is usually adequate but not over the moon great, mostly college-aged.

Ah. Ok. A friend told me that if I liked burgers I needed to try this place. I am now trying to find a new friend… I do not recommend this place unless you like your burger on soggy bread. The first thing I noticed was the burger seemed to be a bit small, well at least the patty. The overall taste was ok, but not even close to being enough to overcome the fact the trying to eat the bun was like trying to eat a dumpling. Yep not a good combo when it comes to burgers. The chili cheese fries were tasty and the service was pretty good. Guess I must have missed what some many other seem to like about this place. Either that or some people just have really low expectations for spending 14.00 dollars on a burger and fries. I have had fast food burgers better than this. I don’t see myself coming back in unless my arm is twisted.
