You can smell the urinal cakes from the dance floor.

Went here for a friends birthday with a large group of people — I was very shocked at the $ 9 cover for a place of this quality but whatever. There was quite a large line waiting to get in so I figured it had to be a decent place. I was extremely turned off by the smoky atmosphere but the strong drinks eventually eased my suffering. It is a different kind of place — a wide mix of people/ages. There was a middle aged woman in a very tight red dress dancing with herself in the corner the whole night and nobody seemed to care. It doesn’t seem like something out of the norm for Groovys. The music is fun and easy to dance to(a wide range of 70s-90s mix). The night we went the dance floor was pretty much packed all night. I had an «A-ok» time but there are plenty of other bars in the area that I would much rather go to(especially with little to no cover charge).

These so-so reviews make me sad! I hadn’t been to Groovys until recently, and imagined it as a place that played ‘70s music with a middle-aged crowd. I’m 24, so that doesn’t sound like my kind of place. My friends assured me it’s not like that anymore, so I gave in and tagged along. I am so glad I did! I don’t know how many times I’ve said, «There needs to be a bar/club that plays ‘90s pop.» Well, Groovys is it. There was a good mix of ‘80s, ‘90s and today’s hits that just makes for a really fun atmosphere. And I will say Groovys had literally the most diverse crowd I have seen at any establishment in Oklahoma. Early 20s like myself, people in their 50s and 60s, and everywhere in between. I think it makes for a fun and interesting atmosphere because everyone just dances and dances and has a blast. It’s not very big, so we waited in line for about 30 minutes(it was around 11 on a Saturday night). Some reviewers mentioned the bouncer coming to get friends out of line, which was annoying, but I feel like that happens everywhere. $ 9 cover is no bueno, but it is what it is. I will definitely be back for a fun night of dancing!

I went here on a Friday night with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday. Things I liked: The music was SO fun to dance to! Ranged from 70’s to 90’s stuff. The bartenders were all very friendly. I only got domestic beer, but it was reasonable at $ 3. Things I didn’t like: $ 9 cover charge and smoking. Also, after every song, there was a gap of silence before the next song started(the songs didn’t fade into each other). Not a big deal, but it was kind of weird. Overall, I had a fun time. Will I go out of my way to go again? Probably not. But if a group wants to go, I’ll go and dance!

This place is horrible! Called a month ahead of the special night we were to go was told they don’t make reservations to call on the night of the event and they would accommodate our party of 16. We did this and arrive to be told that we couldn’t be seated together because they had other reservations!!! Really! The«owner» was extremely rude! We left and took our business elsewhere! This place and its management is a joke!!! STAYAWAY A 9 $ cover charge and no live music!

Pretty cool 80’s bar. Definitely would go back, but the $ 9 cover charge was dumb on a Friday night. Drinks are Really strong and worth it. Not a dancer but this place was fun to dance at. I would recommend it.

This place is a mix crowd of young and old. Plays a lot of 70’s and 80’s dance music and drinks are pretty strong. I agree that another reviewer said the $ 9 cover serves a purpose. My biggest gripe here is how smokey it gets where you can hardly breathe.

I’ve been once and I saw some crazy stuff! Had to wait in line to get in. In line two girls left but one at a time and exchanged a gum package. So obvious what they were doing, sniff sniff. Another group was drinking beer while in line. Bouncer taking money was not nice at all! I’ll never go back.

Blech. If you grew up in the 70’s then this is the place for you I guess. The crowd here is generally much older but it is funny to watch grammy groove. The dance floor is miniscule and gets packed to the point that you can’t even dance without swapping sweat with at least 3 other people. I honestly do not know how to dance to this kind of music but I fit right in because I don’t think anyone else does either. I got a little burnt out on the backstreet boys and nsync 5 songs in a row. I think the dj should do a better job of mixing things up. The mixed drinks are tiny and well overpriced. Also, the $ 9 cover charge seems absolutely unnecessary. I don’t go to clubs that take a cover charge unless there is a live band I want to see. I only came here because a friend wanted to go for her birthday so I had no choice. I really hate this place. Not my type of music, far to tiny and way overpriced.

I looked this place up on the internet last night, did not see too many positive reviews, but all the negative reviews were bogus! I went in last night about 9:30 pm, and had a blast! The place is filled with tons of energy, good service, and lots of people. The dance floor was full all night, definitely the right place to go. I am just over 50, and there was plenty of people in my age group, and also many younger people as well… ***** Great Age Mix, Great Music, Great dancing. Fun, Fun, Fun*****

It is what it is. Lots of people getting drunk and dancing to 70s music. FOr some reason both times I was there they played«Sympathy For The Devil» not sure how that fits in with the Bee Gees but at I least I enjoyed that song. The smoke will prevent me from returning. Its so thick at the end of the night and its just so 1980s to smoke in a club.

Ok so there is a $ 9 cover to get in and that is annoying but, it serves a purpose. I think it helps to keep the people out that are looking for trouble. The people that are inside are the best mixed bag of characters I have ever witnessed in one place. You have your cougars, your young guys who love cougars, older men looking for younger ladies, gold diggers, flash dancers, people in costume(not just on halloween) bachelorette parties, dude bros, and they all have one thing in common. They are looking to party and have a good time! I have read complaints that the drinks are bad but, I enjoyed my drinks. I didn’t spend a lot of time waiting to get a drink which is also nice. The hardest part was navigating through the crowd and dancing your way to the bar! The biggest complaint I have is the bathroom situation. The toilets overflowed with water and the floor was flooded. A guy came and mopped it up but he didn’t find the problem so guess what… It flooded again. It gets very busy and a couple of my friends had to wait in line to get in. It is pretty smokey but what bar in Okc isn’t? The music is all older stuff. It ranges from 70s to 90s music with a lot of boy band representation. All the music gets the ladies dancing so it is a good time kind of place!

Use to be a pretty kewl little spot to go too but not so more… crowd is 50 plus yr olds with 10 bouncers acting like He-Man. This place isn’t worth $ 9.00 cover fee and it’s pretty lame now.

This place really deserves one star. I am tempted to give it two because my friends and I had a great time in spite of it(of course we would have fun anywhere). The drinks were so bad that you couldn’t drink them. $ 9 cash only cover charge – WTH??? It was hot. The music was fun but there was literally a 20 second pause between EVERYSONG – it’s a dance club that’s not supposed to happen! The music was weird some disco then Backstreet Boys? The 80’s selections were decent. The crowd was the strangest I have ever seen. There were a ton of 50+ year old men dressed in affliction gear trying to hit on the girls the whole time – they were relentless and it was very annoying. Then moms and daughters and people dressed as unicorns. I can’t believe this plays stays in business. It was just, bad, bad, bad. Good things my friends are a blast :-)

Yuk. Horrible bar with an outrageous cover charge(who does this now days anyway) and over priced drinks. Don’t bother trying to select your favorite music from the jukebox. The manager has already chosen what songs will play for the rest of the night. Décor and atmosphere are atrocious as well. Go to one of the newer bars in bricktown if you feel like spending some money but avoid this place at all costs.

Surprisingly, I had a great time at Groovy’s! I say that because I’m not a huge 80’s music fan. But the crowd here was awesome! Everyone was there to have a great time. Nobody cared if you can’t dance, they’re not there to judge you, just come and have a good time! It got real crowded around 11pm. The dance floor was small and everyone was bumping into each other in every direction. Drinks weren’t too expensive. I did run into some trouble when I went to close my tab. The bartender could not find my card even though I wrote my name on a napkin with the bank name and my picture is on my card! Said he couldn’t find it and that was it. He started taking drink orders from people standing next to me. Can we say a$$hole?! He didn’t offer any solutions. He asked me if I remembered which bartender took my card. What difference would that make? They had everyone’s cards laying out on the same table! I was fraustrated so I went to the other side of the bar and gave another bartender the napkin with my info. Thirty seconds later, I was signing my credit card receipt. I guess the first idiot didn’t know how to read and wasn’t the most observant person in the world. At 1am, they turned on all the lights and started kicking people out by 1:30am. They literally yell at you to get the heck out. Service is definitely hit or miss. Some of the guys were very kind and others were just plain rude.

I just don’t get it. Is it retro? Is it 90s? Is it supposed to e Studio 54? I don’t think it does any of these well. They charge a cover for you to go into a tiny building with way too many people and wish there was a way of getting a drink in a reasonable amount of time. Power to those who can battle through it all and carve out enough space to actually dance. I think the most entertaining part of the entire experience was watching where people would find a couple square feet to shake it a little.

They 80s are back and they want to dance! I’m surprised that there are not more reviews of this OKC dance instutituion, if there is such a thing in OKC? Is there? And I’m not talking about doing the ‘Gator at Sherlocks. All the cool kids will know what I’m talking about. Groovy’s is a tiny little nondescript bar located just off of Northwest Expressway that from the outside belies the good times to be had within. It is clean and dare I say it, even classy — or much classier than most other«dance» joints in OKC. Enjoy listening and or dancing to the greatest sappy top 40 hits from the 70s, 80s and beyond? Then this is your place! There is outstanding people watching as the very small dance floor is located within view of all of the booths and tables. So, should you enjoy getting your swerve on occasion, by all means take a gambol on Groovy’s hallowed ground. Where else can you hear Gloria Gaynor’s «I Will Surivive,» Journey’s «Don’t Stop Believing,» Madonna’s «Into The Groove» and then that old dance staple«Rump Shaker» by Wreckx-N-Effect all in one night? I certainly wouldn’t have known but now I do –its at Groovy’s! All you’ll wanna do is zoom a zoom zoom and a boom boom while sweat hogging the night away. As a stereotypical white boy I’m not much of a hoofer, but compared to a few people I’ve seen I’m practically Travolta(the good Travolta, not the old, bloated male masseuse groping Barbarino of today) when(albeit after a few bouts of liquid courage) I step onto that dance floor. And that’s the best part — nobody cares as everyone of all stripes, ages, and sexual predilection is too busy having fun to care that you have two left feet. Or if you can get your Hustle on with the best of them, strut your stuff baby! The crowd here is a sundry group of dancers and watchers alike ranging in age from 20s to some folks pushing their 60s and thankfully there is not too much boot scootin’ and you won’t see any annoying line dancers. They will however occasionally throw a bone to those few belt buckles as big as your forehead wearing folk, but a casual country song here and there doesn’t destroy the fun. Drinks are relatively inexpensive and they have a great selection of imported beer as well. If you come before 9 be sure and have your flannels on — they keep that thermostat on sub zero until later in the night when it is so packed and crowded it feels like the Sahara in there. Stop in and check it out and you’ll be shaking like a poodle passing a peach pit in no time! The beats are sweeter than candy! Guaranteed!

This is one of the better dance clubs in OKC. It attracts a more older and laid-back crowd, people who are there just to have a good time. They play a variety of music: top 40, 80s, etc. The only downfall is that it’s super small, with a super small dance floor.
