This is a place everyone in OKC should know about.
This review is for the Double D food truck, which is opening a restaurant in October. The truck is parked at Portland Ave. and NW 17^th on Fridays and Saturdays, which is where the restaurant will be.
The food speaks for itself. The best pulled pork I’ve had anywhere in Oklahoma, and tied with the best I’ve had in Georgia, Tennessee, Kansas… Hands down, far and away, the best collards I’ve had anywhere, ever. (Please don’t tell my grandfather I said that.) Seriously, the greens, I didn’t even know they could be that good.
Bonus that the two guys running it are super friendly, and clearly know their ‘q. The food truck (an old travel camper) is nothing fancy to look at, but they have all their health and business permits right on the window, and whatever they’re doing, it clearly more-​than-​works.
My husband and I stopped here a couple weekends ago while spending the Summer in OKC. We both got the pulled pork sandwiches (special for the day), potato salad, and collards. The prices were standard and the servings were generous. I only wish we went sooner and more often. For anyone who lives in OKC, consider yourself fortunate with great food like this. For anyone who travels for food, this is a place to go. We’ll definitely be back.
