This place and Coney Island in capital hill are awesome, I have heard they are related some how, But don’t quote me on that ! I have been coming to both places for over 30 years. And not going to stop, you just wake up one day and say I’m going to Coney Island for lunch today! this place is so good, I keep thinking they will raise there prices, but they don’t, it is almost like eating and someone picks up the tab and you leave the tip, Really cheap, but it is so great, try the spaghetti with the chili awesome, my son and I love it, and it is very large portions. Try this place, remember both places cash only! But who cares $ 20.00 will feed 3 – 4 people(LOL) good place! OH don’t use your cell phones

This place is a dump! We had tickets to the theatre nearby, so were looking for a place to get a quick bite, and this is all we could find. It was just before closing,(unfortunately not for good,) and the server let us know that we were inconveniencing him by coming in so late and so close to closing by his attitude. You have to go to the counter and order and if you choose to stay you sit at a formica topped table with retro tubular chairs, more old and decrepit than trendy. We got it to go so we could get out of there. We parked the car and ate in the car. I had the Greek spaghetti, which was tasteless, and my wife thought the Frito pie was better but not the best she had ever had. She accompanied her pie with a bag of Cheetos, which were not messed up. On top of having to eat in the car, we got out to go to the show(«Oklahoma!» in Oklahoma City – get it?) and learned on our way up the stairs that the performance that night had been cancelled due to the fact that an electrical transformer had blown and they could not present the show. Since we were only here for one night, we had to get a refund charged to our credit card. A disappointing night all around.

Awesome place, awesome food! Chili is something special, I was a little hesitant at first but it is amazing! Cash only though, and no cell phones in line. I had 2 chili cheese coney’s and a drink for $ 4.65!

I love this place, maybe it’s a nostalgia thing, or because I’m a Sooner and this place is chock full of Sooner memorabilia, but I think this place is good and the coneys here are delish. I usually get the #2(cheese, onions, chili, mustard) and I can get three for under five bucks, hard to eat anywhere for under five dollars today — especially local. PLUS they have RC cola. Say whaaaaat? As mentioned by other reviewers, bring some cash. But you really should stop in to check out the décor and get an earful from the old guy slinging the coneys, he’s a character.

First off, pretty good hotdogs. Secondly, the store itself probably hasn’t changed in years. I usually get three dogs and go for under $ 5

A few people mentioned this place to me, saying that I could get a great hot dog for a $ 1.55. I mistakenly went to Jakes Coney Island in Edmond, and was very pleased. I still wanted to try the original though. They were right about the price indeed, but the hot dog was disappointing. First off, the older woman who served me, prepared my 3 dogs with her bare hands. No gloves.(Isn’t that like, a food safety law or something?) The buns seemed fresh out of a plastic bag, the red hot dogs were cold, and the chili was quite bland. The dogs at Jakes were way better. Hot, fresh dogs, and jakes house made chili really stood out. The Original Coney Island must depend on their history for all that business. The hot dogs are awful!

The frito pie was delicious. I had it with both cheese and onion and don’t regret my decision! However, the small bowl that was nearly $ 4 alone was not filling and I left hungry); I used my cash to pay for parking out front and then planned to use my card inside. I was not aware they only took cash, but I already paid to park so I just stayed and spent the last little bit of cash I had on the tiny bowl. I probably won’t return just because it’s all been a hassle to park then dig out cash and having to go somewhere else to get more food with a credit card to get full. They should really get a square or credit card reader.

This place has been open since the 20’s and probably not updated since the 70’s. That’s the great part about it. It’s not fancy, it’s not new, but it is clean. It takes you back for a short while to a simpler time. The posters with every year of OU football scores since the 30’s make for great conversation topics. The food is really pretty good and the price can’t be beat. The area around it is actually improving considerably, so you should get down there and check it out before the developers offer him too much money to refuse.

This coney island is in a class of its own. I don’t know why their hot dogs are red, but they are better than any other dog in the world! I don’t know why their buns are so soft and delicious, but they ARE better than the same brand bun that you buy at the grocery store! The first time I saw the chili I was skeptical, but one taste and I was sold. We have never taken anyone there that didn’t fall in LOVE(except for one snobby person who doesn’t appreciate historic buildings and couldn’t see past the«oldness» of the building to enjoy the experience). There are very few places that I crave to the point that I will travel great distances to enjoy, but Coney island is one of those places! You can usually find the owner playing chess at the front table. He’s a friendly enough fellow, just interrupt his turn at your own risk. I agree with the other reviewer who said that Coney island is one of the last best places in okc!

Good people and good food. Their family is terrific and their coney’s are even more so! If you go for lunch, allocate some time for the line. By about noon, straight up, there’s a line almost out the door. There’s no reason to not like this place, unless you are dumb or stuck-up, when it comes to dining in historical establishments. One of the last best places in OKC.

In absolute love with this place. It’s efficient, economical, and very tasty, three elusive qualities that are almost never simultaneously present in a single restaurant. Sure, you have to abide by a few rules along the way, as the owners only take cash and refuse to serve those that use their cell phone in line. The clientele aren’t exactly rich people, but I’ve seen kids in the restaurant plenty of times. The downsides aren’t really downsides for me, and I’ve eaten here many times without getting remotely sick. At the end of the day, you’ll never wait more than 10 minutes for your food, you’ll never pay more than a few bucks, and the quality is a step above your typical fast food chain. I’m all for that!

Tried a Coney which had a red dog inside WAYYyyyyyy under the mound of tastless chili and handful of minced onions. The place is old & ontop of the wood panel walls are all of the OU football games. It’s cute in an old way, but I could do without cafeteria style and my food handled without gloves.

Stopped by here to eat lunch before visiting the bro-in-law at the Devon Tower. Had: –coneys w/chili, cheese, and onions(lots of them) They were hot dogs slathered with mustard, chili, cheese, and onions. Not much else to say. The coneys were good, just nothing to write home about, but at $ 1.50 each they were very economical.

Well here is the menu: Chili Cheese Dog, Bowl of Chili, or Spaghetti with Chili(instead of sauce). I watched a man try and order a hot dog without chili and the owner almost had a fit, lol. The chili is good but does not make up for the lack of meat in the actual hot dog. They only take cash and are not overly friendly.

Cash only Different than the other Coney Islands, in that it’s done like a cafeteria. You walk up and tell them what you want on them and go. My least favorite location.

Took the boys here and we got the chili cheese dogs, of course, and the Greek style spaghetti. My boys loved everything! It was okay for me, but they really enjoyed themselves. The food was really affordable.

I ate lunch here today and talk about an interesting adventure/experience. The hot dogs are good, but the location and décor are even better. Let me explain: Coney Island is located downtown on Main street(it’s always fun to be downtown). The weathered old sign out front says: Coney Island Hot Wieners Since 1924. The inside of Coney Island is like a set from the old Twilight Zone TV show(the one with Rod Serling). Very basic with booths and tables. Orders are placed at the counter. It appears a man and wife in their late 60’s run the place(as it turns out his brother runs the Coney Island on the southside). The hot dogs are smallish and inexpensive($ 1.40); quite tasty. If you’re looking for a food adventure, you need to go here. If you’re a timid soul, stay at home with your doors locked.
