This is a small and out of the way shop. I don’t think their stock moves very quickly(old and faded tags). The owner is friendly enough; but the shop has an overly perfumed/potpourri kind of odor and they don’t take credit cards.

As it has been stated there is a great selection of yarn, there is even buffalo yarn. But I enjoyed it b/c of the great owner. She is super friendly and easy to talk to.

It pains me to give a yarn store a three star review. Really, it does. Yarn stores, along with book stores, are my favorite places to buy things I don’t necessarily need and all I really ask is that the selection is better than Hobby Lobby, the staff isn’t snobby, and the yarn smells either neutral(like… yarn) or maybe like cedar or lavender(something moth-proof-y). Carol’s definitely has an impressive selection and the owner is helpful and friendly but the shop itself smells strongly of potpourri and so will your yarn. Weirdly, when I brought my yarn home and took it out of the sack, I sniffed it(I’d heard yarn from Carol’s smells like smoke– I don’t normally huff yarn) and was shocked by how strongly my Blue Sky Alpacas Bulky smelled like cigarettes. Great selection of sock yarn and lots of Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride and Lorna’s Laces in stock but the cigarette aroma is kind of hard for me to get over, especially since I don’t smoke. I’m wondering if maybe folks from the neighboring establishments smoke in the walkway and it wafts into the shop? +‘s = Friendly, knitting-savvy owner. Easy enough to locate southside shop. Big selection. Just be sure to stock up on Febreze.
