I’m beyond angry.
I took my 32 year old daughter to Dr. Masters yesterday for an extraction and bone graph. Before she left his office he gave her a prescription for Hydrocondone-​Acetaminophen 5 – 325 with instructions to take 1 – 2 tablets every 4 – 6 hours as needed for pain. We filled the prescription and went home where she took 2 tablets at 1:00 p.m. as the deadening from the surgery was starting to wear off. The medication helped for about 45 minutes but the pain started right away after that. Still, my daughter took the meds every 4 hours through the night, with only about 45 minutes of relief with each dosage. This morning her cheek is swollen like she has a baseball in her mouth, and is hot to the touch. I called Dr. Masters to ask for something stronger for the pain, and he accused my daughter of abusing the pain meds and said by law he couldn’t prescribe additional medication without her coming to his office. His recommendation was to deaden her mouth again, which she didn’t want, so this led him to further insinuate that anyone in pain wouldn’t turn down having her mouth deadened again.
I counted out the pills, and she took them EXACTLY as prescribed. This is the sort of treatment of patients that give dentists a bad name. She has no choice but to go in to have him look at her mouth, but if you are having serious dental issues, I would NOT recommend this dentist. He had no sympathy for what my daughter had gone through and treated me like I was helping her to get party drugs.

I had to write this review before I procrastinate and eventually forget. After 10 years, my front crown finally crapped out on me after biting on a hard shell fish 2 weeks ago it eventually became loose and infected. The Navy dentists referred me to Dr. John Masters, who is a retired Navy Captain from I’ve been told by others at the Naval Hospital.
First impression of the facility was a little confusing to me because it’s in this residential area and I would’ve probably laughed if Dr. Masters came from a bedroom in the home in his pajamas ready to begin to work on his patients. The receptions were very pleasant, accommodating and respectful. They made the administrative process very simple.
Root Canal/​Re-​treatment procedure. Now, I dread going to the dentist because of the drills, explorers, numbing agents and etc. After the initial numbing of my gums, I couldn’t even feel any pressure when it came down to the actual procedure. At one point, I fell asleep for a solid 10 – 15 minutes because I had a dental block in my mouth to relax my jaw. What woke me up wasn’t the drill itself but Dr. Masters and his assistant started talking about Thanksgiving lol
Overall, I give these guys 5 stars for the professionalism, respectful and PAINLESS procedure.

so! I came here today for a root canal! (yay!) Dr. Masters was recommended to me by another endodontist… his office was very nice! So were his receptionists and assistant :) she was very pleasant… and so was he!
He was super professional and easy going and explained everything, he was really nice and the root canal was no big deal at all! It was over in an hour or an hour and a half Im not positive how long actually I didn’t look at the time when i left… and it wasn’t the nightmare I expected :) (I had 1 root canal about 10 years before at another dentist office and it was pretty much just absolute torture)
I don’t know much about root canals obviously since Im not a dentist but as far as my office visit and getting it done it was pretty much painless (even when he numbed my mouth it didn’t hurt!) My visit was as relaxing and stress free as a dentist visit can possibly be haha. I was in and out and it was not even an unpleasant experience. I was VERY relieved and pleasantly surprised and all my complete freaking out the week prior about having to have a root canal turned out to be for nothing.
Im totally going to him again if I ever need to (I hope I don’t need to… but if I do) He only does endodontics so I guess he’s just really good at what he does :). Really good experience. and Im super thankful for that!

I would not hesitate to recommend John Masters. He is extremely knowledgeable and I know I’m in good hands when he is working on me. I am going to go to him the next time I have the extensive dental work that his skill-​set provides. The office staff is great as well.
