We moved to Chula Vista a year ago from San Diego and have been looking for a casual comfort-food neighborhood Mexican restaurant and think we have found it. I was in the area doing errands around lunch time last weekend and decided to check it out. I was met at the door by a nice woman who said I could have any table in the place, even the large half-circle booth! She and 2 other women waited on me and stopped by several times to check on me. I got the Huevos Rancheros and a glass of bubbly, as you can see from the photo, it was a generous pour. Chips and salsa on the house were included. Everything was pretty solid. There are 3 large flat screens and they were playing a soccer game that some patrons were really glued to. There were a few families enjoying lunch too. I will be back.

I have been coming here for years. Good service and very nice to our family. The only thing is the food is always cold they do not heat the plates and by the time the food arrives to table it is almost cold. They started heating up plates for a while and I started coming more often, I stopped by again today and again cold plate chilaquiles cold. Hope the owner listens to this he would get more clientele. I’m looking forward to a change. 3 stars but will give 4 for now.

I have seen this place in the ad book that gets delivered to my house in Southbay San Diego. In the booklet all looks very well and yummy. Unfortunately the only reason I give this place two stars is the décor of the restaurant. The service was below average. We waited approximately 45 minutes just to order our food and another 30 minutes to get it. Dont get me wrong, if this was fresh food made to order it would be totally worth the wait, but it wasn’t. The beans are from cans, the order was wrong and for starters if a Mexican restaurant can’t properly cook huevos con chorizo then they may not be able to get anything else right. My food was not good tasting to say the least. Under cooked and flavorless. I will not be returning.

This place is terrible! And my waitress Maria was lousy! I dropped my car off at my mechanic and put the keys in the mail slot, big mistake! Cause I left my cell phone in the car and had no way to get it and needed to call for a ride. I saw Lomas Café and figured I’d stop in and have a few drinks and possibly use the phone. I’ve been to Lomas before but wasn’t impressed, the food was lousy and the restrooms were nasty! And we’re still nasty! But since I was only gonna drink a few Coronas and hopefully use the phone it didn’t matter that the food sucked! Maria was my waitress and she sucked worse then the food and that’s pretty bad. I ordered a couple beers and some chips and salsa. I eventually asked Maria if i could possibly use their phone assuming a bar/restaurant lets you phone someone for a ride if you drink to much or something but Maria flat out said no and was rude about it, ok what ever! Another customer was willing to let me use his cell phone but I needed a pen so I can write down a number, so I asked Maria if I could barrow a pen and again she rudely said no and offered no explanation WTF! A restaurant can’t be helpful to customers anymore? Whatever! So I asked Maria for the check and paid with a credit card and all of the sudden she brings me a pen, lol she brings me a pen. At this point I was livid and showed Maria the pen and asked her«Do you know what this is, it’s a pen!» Then I slammed the pen down on the table and left. Lousy food, lousy service, and Nasty restrooms. Don’t waste your time there’s way better taco shops around, consider Taco Bell

Why only 3 stars ? Cause we went for breakfast there and some fake blonde old lady gives attitude the whole time and didn’t even asked if we need anything or bring us the check ! Horrible customer service, FYI they’re only 2 tables with people so don’t be saying that it was busy! Overall the food was good ! (Dec-24−15)

Never once have I came here and been disappointed. For starters the salsa and chips are on point. I’ve had different plates here and always seems to impress. One tip any taco you get is really two because there so well served and comes with two tortillas. Great happy hour as well.

I would love to give it a 5 but this restaurant lacks a few things. We often wait a bit long for our food and there is usually one waitress who does do an amazing job, but sometimes she is stretched thin so we wait for drink refills too. I understand it’s probably cost effective in this economy. Still love the feel of the place and the music and tv’s and the nice option to eat outside. Food is good, prices okay and it’s clean and comfortable.

Thanks to a short wait at Hernandez tire, a couple weeks back, I gave the Lomas Café a try for breakfast. It was surprisingly good and I loved my breakfast burrito. Last night I tried it for happy hour and fish tacos. Both my wife and I were pleased. The queso fundido was great and the fish tacos were top notch. With a happy hour that runs from 4pm-8pm, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the specials. The only negative is that in my opinion, the place could use a thorough scrubbing with some sort of smell good product. Still…considering the value combined with the quality of the food and drink specials, you cant go wrong. Its an ideal place to catch a game without breaking the bank.

This places hits the spot every time. By far the best chilaquiles verdes in town. I haven’t tried anything else to be honest with you becuase, I can’t get over their chilaquiles. Their micheladas are bomb. Nothing hits the spot than a good beer and good mexican food. Not to mention the service is amazing.

Authentic Mexican sit-down restaurant with reasonable prices. We came for Sunday brunch. My boyfriend has been dying to take me here because he has been craving their steak and eggs. Came with 2 eggs over easy, beans, and the best side of fried potatoes ever. They also give you the option of ordering enchiladas, tamales, etc. a la carte or as an entrée with rice and beans… so I ordered one chile relleno a la carte and their pozole. The chile relleno was nice and cheesy and just enough to satisfy my craving. The pozole was soo good and very comparable to the homemade pozole my coworker used to bring into work when I was younger; the broth was perfect and the meat just fell of the bone. The soup came with a side of fresh lime, cabbage, radish… as well as spices to add as you please. Oh and Sunday brunch isn’t complete without a little buzz. Their drinks are huge. I had the mango margarita($ 6) which wasn’t too sweet. My boyfriend had their margarita with two Coronas. Only $ 12. I usually don’t like Corona but it was pretty bomb. I’ll definitely want to come back when I’m craving pozole.

Here I am, about to ordered some shrimp plate but used the restroom and came out disgusted by the filthy place so I skipped the meal as well as my horchata water. Food is good according to my friends, a bit pricey though Only one waitress around the restaurant. Won’t come back, I don’t like a place that doesnt focus on cleaning the dust around the windows, walls, fans and most of all restrooms. Reminded me of TJ hills

Went here a couple weeks ago with the family. The food wasn’t too bad. Pretty standard«americanized mexican» fare. Tacos, burritos, platters. etc. It was a bit pricey considering, but we were looking for something that wasn’t just a taco bar(I KNOW tacos and burritos are awesome, but sometimes you want a fajita or enchiladas or something… c’mon San Diego…). SO we gave this place a shot. Like I said, decent food, service was good. Place had the atmosphere of a dive bar with some Mariachi music though. We were the only people actually inside. A couple tables were seated on the patio, but they were rowdy and we had our kiddos. One of the servers seemed to be friendly with one of the groups and appeared to be drinking with them? O. o We might come back without the kids. Seems a better bar than restaurant. The food probably goes great with the margaritas(which weren’t too bad, by the way)

I wasn’t craving a big meal but ended up eating here somehow anyways. It must have been from all the of the advertising this place does in the weekly pile of junk mail that gets delivered to me by the postal service. I would have loved to taste anything off of the mariscos menu but disliked the pricing and the fact that everything was around $ 15 or higher which is unreasonable compared to German’s or some of the other mariscos trucks that creep around the South Bay. Ended up ordering a single chile relleno with rice and beans for $ 6. Which seems fair but not worth the money really since the chile relleno was extremely skinny and barely had any cheese inside. The breaded coating was forgettable and so was the sauce on top, but the rice and beans tasted good. I am just glad they served me a freshly cooked chile I guess? As for their breakfast I didn’t care for for their potatoes. I would pass, they are dull and boring thinly chopped potato wedges and nothing more than that. Request hashbrowns instead, if possible. I am willing to forgive and forget that they served over-easy eggs instead of the requested scrammbled, but then again it wasn’t my plate of food LOL. This is actually the first place I learned what a coronita margarita is.

Stumbled upon this place while working in the immediate area and needed a quick lunch with coworkers. Inside interior is heavily laden with brightly painted walls and very busy decorations. It seems they may be a big Corona beer account as there was marketing decorations galore all around. The chips and salsa was very good. The corn tortillas are of the thicker yellow corn variety and the salsa is a deep red thick salsa with flavors of garlic and hot peppers. Had the carne asada burrito and was good enough. Coworkers had the Carnitas plate which looked better than my burrito. The carnitas were 1−2″ cubed size and had a roasted crust to them. Seems like a good local family-style Mex restaurant particularly if you’re in the area.
