Ok, I eat here for the mariscos and its fine but the hidden gem is the great breakfasts they have from opening till 11 am. They are simply the best in the SOUTHBAY. Great choices and great presentation, give it a try, you won’t regret it.

This place is hands down the best Mexican food in the area… the chef is amazing… the Honolulu ceviche is the best ceviche I have ever encountered… the only negative side is the service. The service is hit or miss… I believe the management doesn’t forecast correctly as I have never had a server who was just horrible, most the time there is only one server working too many tables… the food food always makes up for the service!

Saw this place in the corner and thought i’d give it a try. So glad i did! It was perfect! They bring you chips and salsa but i asked for side of guac instead and the guac was made just the way i like it! Tastes just right! I saw in the reviews that the fish tacos were really good so i got the combo. The fish was cooked and portioned perfectly the rice and beans were delicious and i’m not even a big fan of refried beans. I also ordered a mango house margarita that was absolutely amazing! Just the way i like it too… sweet but does the job! I am so pleased with my experience here, the staff were great my server Chris was attentive and kind. I will be returning here with my family.

I’m a certified regular here. I’ve been having lunch here just about every Saturday for the past 5 years now. I’m actually pretty shocked they have a 3 star average rating. This is my favorite place in the South Bay for Mariscos and Mexican food. It’s located in the Eastlake area so it’s a newer restaurant. The wait staff is young but very polite. The menu is extensive which is great because you can find anything to suit your craving. To start, their chips and salsa are so good! The salsa is addicting so you’ll probably kill a couple of rounds of chips and salsa before you get your meal. They have a consomé de pescado which is like a fish broth/stock soup. It’s so simple but so flavorful and probably good for when you’re under the weather. I recommend this as a little appetizer IF it doesn’t already come with your meal. I think some of the larger plates include the consomé. My favorite thing to order is the Hector’s taco. It’s a crunchy taco with shrimp, melted cheese, green peppers inside and topped with shredded cabbage, crema and cotija cheese. It’s to die for. I usually squeeze some lime and add tapatio to it. Their shrimp cocktails and clam cocktails are so good. They have the flavors down for the cocktail juice. Their fish ceviche and shrimp ceviche are bomb too but be sure to say without mayo if you don’t like it on your tostada. I personally don’t like mayo on my ceviche tostadas but I know some people love it. Eventhough they are known for their mariscos, they still nail chicken enchiladas and carne asada tacos. The meat is reminiscent of TJ because of the smokiness. Other than that, anything you can order in their Culichi sauce will be a winner. That sauce is amazing and I’ve even requested it on the side to add to tacos. I’ve also requested enchiladas made in this sauce too. You can’t go wrong. In my humble opinion, Hector’s is the best place to eat in Eastlake and one of the best places to eat Mariscos and Mexican food in San Diego. The recipes, ingredients, flavors and quality of seafood are all on point. They’ve got great chefs!

Coming to this restaurant was very disappointing. My expectations for the food and the service were higher than what i experienced. As soon as we walked in the restaurant we were greeted by a nice guy who took us to our table. Soon after we sat down our server came with the Menus and took our order of drinks. By the time that he brought our drink we had decided on what to order. For our table to share we ordered Green Shrimp Agua Chile. My friend and his girlfriend ordered two small seafood Cocktails. I ordered a Fish tostada de ceviche. Our Food didn’t take that long to arrive starting first with the Agua Chile Plate for the table to share. The presentation was acceptable but i was not impress at all. Despite that my friend and i tried it and liked the spicy Green lime juice. We decided to wait a little to get the rest of the food to enjoy the spicy appetizer with our meal. It didn’t take long for the rest of the food to arrive. My friend and his girlfriend got their cocktails and the presentation of the cocktails was pretty good. I got my Fish Ceviche Tostada but i was disappointed at what i received. I took the first bite and realized that it was a bit dry and the fish was almost like a paste. For what is saw and tasted it seemed like fish was blended in blender and then they added the chopped tomatoes, onions, cucumber and cilantro. The flavor was ok and it seemed like it had enough condiments. My only concern was the texture of the fish. I ate it anyway and also started eating the appetizer. My friend noticed that there was not ketchup on the table and he like many others use to add ketchup to the cocktail mix along with hot salsa to make it taste better. It first took us some time to get the attention of the server. Once he came over my friend requested a bottle of ketchup and i requested another basket of chips to help us with the spiciness of the appetizer. We waited like 12 minutes for the ketchup and we had to reminded him again to bring it(4 more Minutes). We noticed that he was busy with other tables and at one point he jumped in to the bar to prepare some drinks. So basically this guy was taking orders, serving food and making drinks. By the time my friend got the ketchup his girlfriend had finished her cocktail and we had also finished the appetizer. He didn’t even remember about bringing the chips. At that point i didn’t even bother to complain about not getting chips since i had finished. After that our server disappear and i had to request our check from someone else. The food was Ok but I doubt i would come back to this restaurant after experiencing this horrible customer service.

Hector’s was A-OK. I went there for brunch with my mom on Sunday. The food was pretty good, but not anything I’d rave about or go out of my way to go back for again. The service was friendly and quick. My mom loves the place, so I’m sure I’ll be back with her sometime, but I probably wouldn’t go there on my own.

I usually go to the Broadway location, but sometimes we end up at this location too! The chipotle sauce here is AMAZING! And they can put it on almost anything! I usually get the lobster burrito with chipotle sauce or the chipotle shrimp. Tonight I asked if I could get shrimp tacos but with the chipotle shrimp and they said YES! And they were delicious!!! Seriously not lying there chipotle sauce is BOMB! I guess the only thing stopping me from giving this location five stars is the shitty waiter we got(I forgot his name) but last time I came to this location he was our waiter as well and he takes FOREVER! Last time he even sat down to eat dinner with his friends while on the job claiming he had told someone to cover our table and sure enough tonight he was our waiter again tonight and of course he lagged on bringing drinks and the food came out at all different times and he’s just not a very good waiter and it wasn’t even that busy? But other than that ONE waiter everything else is great! I was in March 28 at around 7:00pm

If I could walk here, I’d eat here everyday. I’m giving it 5 stars because the service is always excellent when I eat here. The waiters are always well mannered and very professional, the food is great and inexpensive, and you can sit either inside or out. Definitely come here on a Tuesday, their fish tacos are 95 cents and they aren’t pint sized like you might be thinking. I always get 5 or more depending on how hungry I am, and not to mention, they serve you chips while you wait for your order.

Sadly, I am quite disappointed with the service my fiancé and I received here this past Monday. Having had great service at their other Chula Vista location, I figure we’d get the same great service here… man, were we wrong. We walked in here mid afternoon, and there were 3 or 4 tables with people, so it was pretty slow. We figured we’d be seated right away, however we ended up standing and waiting for almost 5 minutes. We watched the employees walk back and forth doing things, but not once coming to seat us. The woman who later helped us, Miriam, continued going up to some computer screen and tapping on things on it multiple times before finally motioning to a young man to seat us. Honestly, with that few people dining, i’m sure whatever she was doing on that screen could have waited. It only took a minute to seat us and ask what drinks we wanted. We were paying customers, not burdens. I’m going to be very short with the rest of this review. We ordered 2 soft drinks. 4 fish tacos, and a plate of ceviche. I finished my drink before we even finished our meal and we never received a refill. we put the empty glass at the very edge of the table and no one ever came to refill it. We had to flag down Miriam to bring us our check, and she never did. We watched her talking to a table and laughing, she even left to get them a beer and went back and continued talking. Mind you, we’re still waiting for our check while watching her. About 10 minutes later we finally got up and walked over to the front register hoping to get her or someone else’s attention. A few minutes later, she eventually walked over to us and asked if we were ready to pay. Um, yea we’re ready to pay, we were ready to pay when we first asked you to bring us our check about 15 something minutes ago. At no point did Miriam seem concerned about how we felt until the very moment I asked her for her name after she gave us our receipt. I wrote her name on the back of the receipt so I can leave a review of her service. The moment she witnessed this, then she suddenly became concerned. Why was she not concerned when we were clearly and visibly irritated when we were sitting down waiting for our check? or waiting for a refill? or waiting to be seated? That is beyond me. She then followed us out to my car, asking us what was wrong. What was wrong??? When we did tell her, she immediately said she did nothing wrong and that nothing was her fault. She said that the people she was chattering with were complaining, however they seemed quiet happy and laughing while we were watching. Even if that is somehow true, she should have brought us the check when she walked away to get them a beer, or she could have motioned/told another employee to bring us our check. There is no excuse for this. I feel like the only reason she ever became concerned was because I wrote down her name, and of course no one who works in customer service wants a customer to call and complain about them. I am so very disappointed in the service we experienced here. We spent 38 dollars and some change on our meal here, and I feel like we just got taken for our money. People pay for service at restaurants, yet we got horrible service here for a grand total of 38 bucks. I honestly wish we got a refund. To the business owner, you have a very nice location on Broadway with employees that exceed at great customer service. As a happy customer there, I expected this location to have consistency. I am quite sad that this was not the case.

Really enjoyed our meal here. It was late and they were trying to close up, still took care of everything as if they had hours left. The stuffed shrimp is amazing, and the service exceptional. The location is ok, I don’t dig restaurants in strip malls but it’s near home and well appointed inside. I’m going to go back and put up a more detailed review.

So I come here from time to time with friends, most let because they have but one get one for $.99 margaritas and the girls like their fish tacos which are $ 1(at least on Tuesdays but maybe during happy hour too) but I’m really not a fan. Parking is easy and great location but I think I mostly like the location because they are next to Krispy Kreme. Anywho… is typical ok for a quick bite and they have alcohol but the last time we went(last Tuesday) it was super busy, which is totally fine but our server, while super nice, didn’t really make me want to come back again. We had to ask for utensils like a spoon for soup, a bowl for the large soup, the tortillas that came with the soup and the rice and beans that were ordered that never arrived. Again he was super nice but we went to grab a quick bite and it took so much longer than necessary. In addition, I order the michalda and asked if they had the one with tomato juice. He said yes then brought me one without. One of my friends was like was that what you ordered? I said no but after about 10 minutes I just drank it because I was tired of waiting for him to come back. The tacos are fine but nothing to write home about. The Seven Seas Soup that my friend Eden got was super yummers though. Needless to say I probably won’t go back for tacos but I might for the soup…

Yummm! We met some friends for dinner who live in Eastlake, and we were so happy they recommended this place! The Stuffed Shrimp(stuffed with crab, and wrapped with bacon — grilled) and the fish tacos were recommended by our friends, but when I saw the Steamed Clams & Mussles for $ 13.95, I succumbed. And was glad I did. Delicious! I ordered double beans instead of beans and rice — good beans! My husband had the fish filet and liked it. Our friend loved her stuffed shrimp, and her husband liked his beef dish. The soup that comes with dinners was deliciously seasoned, and had big chunks(though only a few chunks) of fish and seafood in it. The salad was just okay, but adequate. From the casual atmosphere, you wouldn’t expect such good food and such a varied menu — almost every kind of Mexican seafood dish you can imagine is on this menu! Since my Spanish vocabulary isn’t large, I had to ask what many things were — I wish they had more English explanations of what things were. But the server and our friends were helpful — as well as Google(who Googles menu items — we do!) — in figuring things out. The young man at our table recommended the«Taco Tuesdays», and our date night is Tuesday, so we’ll be back for that! They serve several kinds of Mexican beer, and other beers. I like Negro Modelo, and most of our table agreed. The service was good — it was easy to get the attention of the server. We were there for several hours on a Saturday night, and no one from the staff seemed concerned about us staying so long. The prices are a little high for Mexican food, but hey — it’s seafood — not just cheap cuts of pork and beef. We will definitely be back! This place made us want to further explore the charming community of Eastlake!
