I love this park. I used to play BV softball here as a kid. Now I walk through on my way to Rice Canyon Trails. Beautiful fields with green grass. Always tons of parking(except during the games.) The park is situated at the end of Rice Canyon. It is surrounded by trails that take you though Rancho del Rey. If you are looking for a place to run or take your dog for a walk, this is a great place to start. This park is very safe with many families here. It is a great place to relax on the weekend.

Came back this past week for a BV softball game, and looks like the park is kept up and pretty clean. Also the snack bar area was pretty clean, and there was a pretty awesome assortment of items.

Since I always drive by here at late night, I thought it was a creepy ghetto park. but this morning, I drove by & noticed that it was actually descent! So I biked around the park to explore for new things. Theres a big parking lot with a playground near the grass. Also, I found some trails where it can be a nice area to do some step up and uphill training. Oh, and this park doesn’t provide doggie poopie bags, only at the eastlake park.

I’ve experienced Discovery Park in 3 Stages. Stage One(High School Days): We use to hang out at this park from dusk to dawn doing absolutely nothing. The park is well lit at night and safe. Security comes by from time to time. Believe me, I would know. Back in the day, this park sat smack in the middle of 10 or so different friend’s homes. Location of this park was perfect to kick back. Stage Two(Early to Mid-Thirties): I use to take my daughter her for soccer practice. Man, those were the days before the teenage years. I spent plenty of hours on the park benches watching a bunch of kids trying to kick a soccer ball around. This park has a lot of green. Perfect for a friendly game of soccer, fly a kite, and maybe read a book. Okay… just fly a kite and play soccer. Stage Three(Now): About 7 months ago, I started training for my first half marathon. This park was my starting point. Plenty of parking and there’s even trails in and out of here in case running in the streets in not your thang. Started training for my 2nd half marathon. You know what that means… Duke status! Overall, it’s just a park and a decent one too. I’ve watched this park grow up over the years. And you know what, its watch me grow up too.
